Deadpool 2 Trailer – The merc with a mouth is back & ready to give it to us again

March 22, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While there was a lot of trepidation over whether Hollywood was capable of making a Deadpool movie that captured the sardonic spirit of a character that lives in the X-Men world but is very different to the others. However, the resulting film was a critical and commercial hit, ensuring a sequel was put into the works.

The first trailer for Deadpool 2 is now here, and you can take a look at it below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfil his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavour – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

‘Deadpool 2 arrives in UK cinemas & IMAX May 15.’ [Read more…]

Under the Silver Lake Trailer – Andrew Garfield gets into a neo-noir mystery

March 21, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The supernatural horror It Follows got writer/director David Robert Mitchell plenty of attention, and also ensured his next movie was going to be bigger budget with a better known cast. That follow-up is Under The Silver Lake, which stars Andrew Garfield, Riley Keough and Topher Grace.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From the dazzling imagination that brought you It Follows comes a delirious neonoir fever dream about one man’s search for the truth behind the mysterious crimes, murders and disappearances in his East L.A. neighborhood. Sam (Andrew Garfield) is a disenchanted 33-year-old who discovers a mysterious woman, Sarah (Riley Keough), frolicking in his apartment’s swimming pool. When she vanishes, Sam embarks on a surreal quest across Los Angeles to decode the secret behind her disappearance, leading him into the murkiest depths of mystery, scandal and conspiracy in the City of Angels.’

The film will be out in the US in June, but no UK date is currently set. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Can You Ever Forgive Me? Trailer – Melissa McCarthy goes dramatic & turns to forgery

March 21, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Melissa McCarthy has had tremendous success as a comedy actress, but it appears she wants to show there’s more to her than that. Can You Ever Forgive Me? sees her showing off her dramatic chops (which also seems to involved wearing less makeup – a trick everyone from Charlize Theron and Renee Zellweger has used when they were trying to get people to see them differently).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Melissa McCarthy stars in the adaptation of the memoir CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME?, the true story of best-selling celebrity biographer (and friend to cats) Lee Israel (Melissa McCarthy) who made her living in the 1970’s and 80’s profiling the likes of Katharine Hepburn, Tallulah Bankhead, Estee Lauder and journalist Dorothy Kilgallen. When Lee is no longer able to get published because she has fallen out of step with current tastes, she turns her art form to deception, abetted by her loyal friend Jack (Richard E. Grant).’

The movie is due in cinemas towards the end of the year. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

New Hotel Transylvania 3 Trailer – Adam Sandler’s vampire family are going on vacation

March 21, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Quite often when filmmakers don’t know what to do with a sequel, they send the characters of vacation. Unfortunately that’s accompanied by a lack of ideas in the finished movie and a sense of desperation. Hopefully though, that won’t be the case with Hotel Transylvania 3.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation, join our favorite monster family as they embark on a vacation on a luxury monster cruise ship so Drac can take a summer vacation from providing everyone else’s vacation at the hotel. It’s smooth sailing for Drac’s Pack as the monsters indulge in all of the shipboard fun the cruise has to offer, from monster volleyball to exotic excursions, and catching up on their moon tans. But the dream vacation turns into a nightmare when Mavis realizes Drac has fallen for the mysterious captain of the ship, Ericka, who hides a dangerous secret that could destroy all of monsterkind.’

Hotel Transylvania 3 is due out in July. Take a look at the new trailer below.  [Read more…]

Hurricane Bianca: From Russia With Hate Teaser Trailer – Roy Haylock’s drag creation is getting a sequel

March 20, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When it was first announced that Rupaul’s Drag Race alum Bianca Del Rio (aka Roy Haylock) was going to star in a movie – Hurricane Bianca – a lot of people assumed it was going to be a vanity project disaster. However the film turned out to be surprisingly fun and was successful enough that it’s getting a sequel.

A brief preview for the movie has been released, showing the return of the foul-mouthed Bianca, as well as Rachel Dratch’s power-hungry Deborah Ward.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘After winning over the staff and students of Milford High School, chemistry teacher Richard Martinez aka Bianca Del Rio (Roy Haylock) sent her nemesis Vice Principal Deborah “Debbie” Ward (Rachel Dratch) to jail in a flawlessly executed plan. When Debbie is released from jail, she conjures up a scheme to do away with Bianca Del Rio once and for all, by luring her on a dangerous journey to Russia to accept a teaching award and cash prize. Filled with laughs, celebrity cameos and America’s drag superstars, HURRICANE BIANCA: FROM RUSSIA WITH HATE is packed with surprises and unlikely partnerships that spark friendship and acceptance.’

The film will be out in the US on May 18th. In the UK Hurricane Bianca went straight to Netflix, so hopefully the sequel will too. [Read more…]

Tag Trailer – Ed Helms, Jon Hamm & Jeremy Renner don’t want to be ‘it’

March 20, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Synopsis: ‘For one month every year, five highly competitive friends hit the ground running in a no-holds-barred game of tag they’ve been playing since the first grade — risking their necks, their jobs and their relationships to take each other down with the battle cry: “You’re It!”

‘This year, the game coincides with the wedding of their only undefeated player, which should finally make him an easy target. But he knows they’re coming… and he’s ready.

‘Based on a true story, the New Line Cinema comedy “Tag” shows how far some guys will go to be the last man standing.

‘“Tag” is directed by Jeff Tomsic (Comedy Central’s “Broad City”), with a starring ensemble cast led by Ed Helms (The “Hangover” movies, “We’re the Millers”), Jake Johnson (TV’s “New Girl”), Annabelle Wallis (“The Mummy”), Rashida Jones (TV’s “Parks and Recreation”), Isla Fisher (“Now You See Me”), Leslie Bibb (“Iron Man 2”), Hannibal Buress (“Neighbors”), with Jon Hamm (“Baby Driver,” TV’s “Mad Men”) and Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner (“The Hurt Locker, “The Town”).’

New Sicario: Day Of The Soldado Trailer – Josh Brolin & Benicio del Toro head back to the drug war

March 20, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Sicario perhaps isn’t the most obvious candidate for a sequel, especially as director Denis Villeneuve has since moved onto the likes of Arrival and Blade Runner 2049. However, screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (Hell Or High Water) has returned to pen the screenplay, with Stefano Sollima (Gomorrah) stepping into the director’s chair.

Here’s the brief synopsis: ‘In Sicario 2: Soldado, the drug war on the US – Mexico border has escalated as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the US border. To fight the war, federal agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) reteams with the mercurial Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro).’

The movie is due in cinemas next summer. Take a look at the new trailer for the film below. [Read more…]

Take Your First Look At Renee Zellweger Playing The Iconic Judy Garland

March 19, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When Renee Zellweger returned to the public eye after a short career break, there were loads of (rather sexist) articles about how different she looked. Well, get ready not to recognise her again – but this time it’s deliberate, as she’s playing Judy Garland.

The image was released to mark the start of principal photography of Judy, which focuses on Garland’s legendary London concert series which took place shortly before she died.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Winter 1968 and showbiz legend Judy Garland arrives in Swinging London to perform in a sell-out run at The Talk of the Town.

‘It is 30 years since she shot to global stardom in THE WIZARD OF OZ, but if her voice has weakened, its dramatic intensity has only grown.

‘As she prepares for the show, battles with management, charms musicians, and reminisces with friends and adoring fans, her wit and warmth shine through. Even her dreams of romance seem undimmed as she embarks on a courtship with Mickey Deans, her soon-to-be fifth husband. And yet Judy is fragile. After working for 45 of her 47 years, she is exhausted; haunted by memories of a childhood lost to Hollywood; gripped by a desire to be back home with her kids. Will she have the strength to go on?

‘Featuring some of her best-known songs, including the timeless classic ‘Over the Rainbow’, JUDY celebrates the voice, the capacity for love and the sheer pizzazz of “the world’s greatest entertainer”.’

The movie also stars Jessie Buckley (War and Peace), Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story) and Michael Gambon (Harry Potter), with Rupert Goold (King Charles III) directing from a script by Tom Edge (The Crown). Take a look at the full image below.

Final Portrait Trailer – Armie Hammer is going gay again & a little bit arty

March 18, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Not too many years ago straight actors were being praised for being ‘brave’ for playing a single gay role, but then never playing an LGBT part ever again – partly because agents thought two gay roles would harm someone’s career. Now though we have people like Armie Hammer, who’s played several gay roles and is currently has two of them back to back, with the acclaimed Cale Me By Your Name and the Stanley Tucci written and directed biopic Final Portrait.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘FINAL PORTRAIT is the story of the touching and offbeat friendship between American writer and art-lover James Lord and Alberto Giacometti, as seen through Lord’s eyes and revealing unique insight into the beauty, frustration, profundity and sometimes the chaos of the artistic process. Set in 1964, while on a short trip to Paris, Lord is asked by his friend, Giacometti, to sit for a portrait. The process, promises Giacometti, will take only a few days and so Lord agrees — ultimately wondering “how much longer can it go on like this?”’

Lord was gay, although this was only revealed publicly in his obituary after he died in 2009. The film is already out on DVD in the UK, and will be released in US cinemas on March 23rd. [Read more…]
