New A Million Ways To Die In The West Red Band Trailer – Liam Neeson has shadow sex with Seth MacFarlane

May 7, 2014 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

When Seth MacFarlane called his new movie A Million Ways To Die In The West, this trailer suggests he wasn’t joking. Indeed on this evidence it’s difficult to see how anyone survived more than a few minutes back then.

It’s also just a juvenile and silly as you’d expect from the creator of Family Guy (and we don’t mean juvenile in a pejorative sense).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Seth MacFarlane directs, produces, co-writes and plays the role of the cowardly sheep farmer Albert in A Million Ways to Die in the West. After Albert backs out of a gunfight, his fickle girlfriend leaves him for another man. When a mysterious and beautiful woman rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin to fall in love. But when her husband, a notorious outlaw, arrives seeking revenge, the farmer must put his newfound courage to the test.

‘Starring alongside MacFarlane are Oscar® winner Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Silverman and Neil Patrick Harris. MacFarlane reunites many of the filmmakers behind Universal and MRC’s hit film Ted including Scott Stuber (Bluegrass Films) and Jason Clark who produce, and Wellesley Wild and Alec Sulkin who co-wrote the script.’

The films due out on May 30th. [Read more…]

New 22 Jump Street Trailer – Don’t ask Channing Tatum to improvise!

May 7, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

21 Jump Street was a far bigger success than anyone had expected, so that it’s not much of a surprise that a sequel is coming – unsurprisingly called 22 Jump Street. Now we’ve got a new trailer that suggests it could be a lot of fun.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership.

‘Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.’

The film’s due out in June. [Read more…]

Rebel Wilson Up For Private Benjamin Remake

May 7, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

rebel-wilsonIt’s not the first time we’ve heard the idea of remaking the 1980 hit comedy Private Benjamin, but this time it’s got a star, as Variety reports that Rebel Wilson has signed up for the movie.

The original starred Goldie Hawn as a ‘woman who joins the U.S. Army after her new husband, played by Albert Brooks, dies on their wedding night during sex.

‘Wilson will portray a redneck who enlists in the Marines to get out of a tough situation.’

The 1980s was a major hit at the time, cementing Hawn’s status on the a-list, and this could do the same for Wilson, especially as it would appear to be the perfect star vehicle for her.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Is Getting A New Live-Action Movie

May 7, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

mighty-morphinMighty Morphin Power Rangers might have been very popular and quite a lot of fun, but let’s face it, looked at objectively it was a bit naff.

However now it might be getting a bit of an upgrade from shiny lycra and people in monster and mecha suits running around obviously fake sets. Lionsgate has announced that they’re planning a new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers live action movie.

The Power Rangers started as a television series more than 20 years ago, and the series has been in continuous production ever since. It has subsequently grown into one of the world’s most popular and recognisable brands, with toys, apparel, costumes, video games, DVD’s, comic books and other merchandise.

Creator Haim Saban commented, “Lionsgate is the perfect home for elevating our Power Rangers brand to the next level. They have the vision, marketing prowess and incredible track record in launching breakthrough hits from The Hunger Games to Twilight and Divergent. In partnership with the Lionsgate team, we’re confident that we will capture the world of the Power Rangers and translate it into a unique and memorable motion picture phenomenon with a legacy all its own.”

There’s no news on exactly how they’ll tackle it on-screen, but the basics of young people in suits fighting bad guys and with the ability to join together to become a giant robot is bound to be the same.

The Office’s Andy Buckley Joins Jurassic World

May 7, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Andy-BuckleyShooting has already started on Jurassic World, but it’s not too late to add another cast member as The Office star Andy Buckley has joined the ensemble.

As with the other cast members, no details have been given about the character he’s playing. However he’ll join Chris Pratt, Jake Johnson, and Judy Greer, Ty Simpkins, Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, B.D. Wong and Omar Sy.

No official plot details have been confirmed, but it’s believed it’ll be set in a working dino theme park on Isla Nublar, where the dream of John Hammond has finally come true. However there will inevitably be problems with those prehistoric beasties (or otherwise it’d be a pretty boring movie)

Colin Trevorrow is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Derek Connolly. The movie is due out summer 2015.

The Cast Is Announced For Russell T Davies’ New Gay-Themed TV Series

May 6, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

russell-t-daviesIt’s 14 years since Russell T Davies shook up TV with the in-your-face Queer As Folk. Since then he’s taken us to the world of new Doctor Who and Torchwood, but it’s been a while since he made anything specifically gay.

However a few months ago it was announced he was returning with two gay-themed TV shows & an online series. Now Channel 4 – which of course was also the network behind Queer As Folk, has announced the casts and that filming has begun.

Here’s the press release: ‘Star of The Thick of It and Twenty Twelve, VINCENT FRANKLIN will join Coronation Street’s JULIE HESMONDHALGH in the cast of new Channel 4 drama series Cucumber, from the multi BAFTA award-winning writer of Queer As Folk and Doctor Who, Russell T Davies.

‘Filming in Manchester has begun on Cucumber (8 x 60’) for broadcast on Channel 4 in 2015, with E4 series Banana (8 x 30’) to start production next month.  The cast also includes; CYRIL NRI (The Bill), FREDDIE FOX (Parade’s End), FISAYO AKINADE (Fresh Meat), CON O`NEILL (Uncle), JAMES MURRAY (Primeval) and CEALLACH SPELLMAN (Waterloo Road).

‘Life for 46 year old Henry (Vincent Franklin) and his boyfriend Lance (Cyril Nri) is comfortable and settled.  But after the most disastrous date night in history – involving a threesome, two police cars, and Boney M – Henry’s old life shatters, and his new life begins.

‘While Lance gets to know the mysterious Daniel (James Murray), Henry soon finds himself with unexpected companions.  24 year old Freddie (Freddie Fox) and 19 year old Dean (Fisayo Akinade) have only been passing strangers, until now.  But when they all find themselves under the same roof, they need to work out; are they friends or enemies?  Can men from such different generations ever get on?

‘Henry’s sister Cleo (Julie Hesmondhalgh) is busy, professional, and a little chaotic.  But coping with her three kids is easy compared to helping her brother.  And as Henry’s life heads in extraordinary new directions, helped by his nephew Adam (Ceallach Spellman), it becomes clear that Cleo’s hiding one or two secrets of her own…

‘With the same ferocious wit, startling honesty and heartfelt warmth that made Queer As Folk a landmark Channel 4 series, Cucumber will explore the passions and pitfalls of 21st century gay life for Henry, Lance and co, while on E4, Banana will follow the individual lives of characters orbiting around Henry’s world.  On 4oD, Tofu will be an anarchic and entertaining factual series about sex – from gay to straight, and anything in between – inspired by the dramas each week.

‘Cucumber, Banana and Tofu were commissioned by Channel 4 Head of Drama Piers Wenger and will be made by RED Production Company with Executive Producers Nicola Shindler, Julie Gardner and Russell T Davies. Tofu will be made by Benjamin Cook (Becoming YouTube).

‘Cucumber is written by Russell T Davies and produced by Matt Strevens, with directors; David Evans, Alice Troughton and Euros Lyn.’

Channing Tatum in Dear John

Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum is a busy boy. He’s already got plenty of movies lined up, but now he’s slotting in one more, as THR reports that he’s set to star in and produce a true crime thriller for Sony.

The movie is set in the late 1970s, and ‘is described as the inspiring true story of an ordinary family man who decides to risk everything by going undercover to take down the biggest mob boss in the country.’

Unfortunately there’s no much more info that that and there’s no title yet either.

Kristin Gore, will write the script, while Oscars ceremony head honchos Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will produce.

This Is Maleficent Featurette – Angelina Jolie explores the bad fairy

May 6, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Disney has a lot of money riding on Maleficent, so they’ll be hoping it’ll follow in the footsteps of their fairy tale film Frozen, rather than their live action reinventions Lone Ranger and John Carter. To help get us interested they’ve now released a ‘This Is Maleficent’ featurette, which sees Angelina Jolie discussing her character.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Disney comes “Maleficent”—the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land.

‘Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.’

It’s due in cinemas at the end of the month. [Read more…]

New Tammy Trailer – Melissa McCarthy goes on a road trip with Susan Sarandon

May 6, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Melissa McCarthy is spreading her wings on film, co-writing the script for Tammy and producing, while her hubby, Ben Falcone, directs and wrote the script with McCarthy. Now a new trailer for the film has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Tammy (McCarthy) is having a bad day. She’s totaled her clunker car, gotten fired from her thankless job at a greasy burger joint, and instead of finding comfort at home, finds her husband getting comfortable with the neighbor in her own house.

‘It’s time to take her boom box and book it. The bad news is she’s broke and without wheels. The worse news is her grandma, Pearl (Sarandon), is her only option—with a car, cash, and an itch to see Niagara Falls. Not exactly the escape Tammy had in mind. But on the road, with grandma riding shot gun, it may be just what Tammy needs.’

Tammy is due in cinemas at the beginning of July. [Read more…]

First Poster For Christopher Nolan’s Insterstellar Gets Released

May 6, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

interstellar-teaser-poster1A few months ago we got a brief, enigmatic teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. However this being Nolan, he’s been keeping his cards pretty close to his chest. But now comes the first poster.

Here’s the film’s synopsis: ‘INTERSTELLAR chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.’

Add that to the poster’s tagline – Mankind was born on Earth. It was never meant to die here – and it’s all pretty intriguing.

Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Michael Caine all star.

A new full trailer (which reports say is still pretty enigmatic) is expected to be released next week.
