Triple Crossed Trailer – Sean Paul Lockhart turns director for a gay-themed flick

September 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Sean Paul Lockhart is known to many gay men as porn star Brent Corrigan, but in the last few years he’s been turning legit, both as an actors in the likes of Milk (yes, he was in it very briefly), The Big Gay Musical and Judas Kiss, and now as a director.

He’s made Triple Crossed (and also stars in the movie), which TLA Releasing has picked up to release. And now they’ve released a trailer, which is both dramatic and deliberately rather sexy.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘With a tour in Afghanistan behind him, war-torn Chris Jensen (introducing Jack Brockett) struggles to assimilate back to life in California. Drifting and living out of his car, he soon discovers that few are willing to deal with the remnants of a damaged career military man. Chris is self medicating; desperate to silence the echos from the front lines. When an opportunity finally presents itself, he makes the hard decision to employ his most coveted talents honed in special ops. A job is a job and Chris knows civilian life can be just as cut-throat as time on active duty. But just how close does he have to get to Andrew Warner (Sean Paul Lockhart) to secure the kill?’ [Read more…]

Black Nativity Trailer – A slightly different kind of musical with Jennifer Hudson & more

September 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Black Nativity has sounded interested even since it was announced that the Langston Hughes’s classic 1961 musical was finally going to be made. Now the first trailer has been released and it looks even more intriguing.

It’s about a Baltimore teenage boy who is sent to Harlem to spend Christmas with the grandparents he never met. Through his grandfather’s Christmas Eve sermon and a stylised, dream-sequence retelling of the classic Nativity story, he learns about the importance of faith and family.

Forest Whitaker, Angela Bassett, Jennifer Hudson, Tyrese Gibson and Mary J. Blige star, with Kasi Lemmons directing. Unsurprisingly the film will be out at Christmas. [Read more…]

One Chance Trailer – James Corden takes on Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts

September 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s Paul Potts: The Movie! James Corden plays the man who went from Welsh mobile phone salesman to Britain’s Got Talent winner thanks to his incredible voice. And if this trailer is anything to go by, it’s not going to let up on any sentimentality it can wring from the tale.

David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada, Marley & Me) directs, with Corden joined by the likes of Julie Walters, Colm Meaney and Mackenzie Crook. Simon Cowell is also going to appear as himself (he’s got his producer hat on for the movie too.

Expect it in cinemas this October. [Read more…]

September 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

After winning an Oscar for Argo, and now becoming Batman, Ben Affleck is pretty much the toast of Hollywood. His next movie is something a little different as he’s starring in Runner Runner, opposite Justin Timberlake. Not the new trailer for the movie has popped up online.

Ben Affleck’s Batman May Get A Love Interest For Man Of Steel 2

September 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

batman-superman-comic-con-logoEver since it was officially announced Superman and Batman would team up (or at least share screen time) in the follow-up to Man Of Steel, there have been endless rumours flying around. Now there’s another one, this time from Latino Review, which suggests Zack Snyder is on the love interest for Batman in the movie.

A casting breakdown has apparently been circulated to talent agencies, which says, ‘They’re looking for someone in their late 20s and are open to all ethnicities…. They’re being very specific and looking for an actress who is both tall and possesses physicality.’

As with always in Hollywood, a guy in his 40s is getting a much younger love interest (it would be nice if Tinsel Town could at least pretend they cared about sexism). There’s no news on who the character will be, such as whether it’ll somebody like Vicky Vale, or a brand new character.

The film is due out in 2015.

Kevin MacDonald Boards Elvis Biopic Last Train To Memphis

September 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

kevin-macdonaldKevin MacDonald is one of the more interesting directors, having made Last King Of Scotland, State Of Play and The Eagle, with the apocalyptic World War III drama How I Live Now due out soon. Now he’s eyeing his next move and Variety reports he way well board the Elvis biopic, Last Train To Memphis.

Mick Jagger is producing, with Fox backing the movie, based on Peter Guralnick’s 1995 biography on the legendary singer. The film will chronicle ‘Presley’s early years and his transformation from a high school kid to an overnight sensation credited with ushering in a radical new era in music.’ John Fusco is writing the script.

Although Elvis is legend and has been a theme or a side-character in an awful lot of movies, there have been surprisingly few movie actually about him. The producers are currently looking for someone to play young Presley, even launching a website called Young Elvis Presley in look at unknowns.

Transformers 4 Will Be Age Of Extinction, And There’s A Poster To Prove It

September 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

transformers-4-poster1
While the logo for Transformers 4 was released a few months ago, one thing it was lacking was a subtitle. We’ve already had Revenge Of The Fallen and Dark Of The Moon, so it was a good bet the fourth outing wouldn’t just be Transformers 4.

Now we now it’s going to be called Transformers: Age of Extinction, as revealed on the first teaser poster, which includes the Decepticon insignia merged with a four, set against a desert landscape. There are still few specifics about the plot, although it will feature an all-new human cast. The new title has many thinking it’s a reference to the dinobots, who it’s been confirmed will be in the movie.

Grimlock (Tyrannosaurus rex), Slag (Triceratops), Sludge (Apatosaurus), Snarl (Stegosaurus), Swoop (Pteranodon) and Paddles (Elasmosaurus) will appear, alongside human franchise newcomers Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Nicola Peltz, T.J. Miller and Sophia Myles.

The film is already shooting, with a June 2014 release set.

Bill Murray Will Rock the Kasbah For Director Barry Levinson

September 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Bill-MurrayAs he’s aged, Bill Murray has gotten very particular about the movies he decides to appear in, but Rock The Kasbah seems to have ticked his fancy as Variety reports that he’s set to star with Barry Levinson directing.

The movie ‘follows a burned-out music manager who goes to Afghanistan on the USO tour with his last remaining client. When he finds himself abandoned, penniless and without his passport, he discovers a young girl with an extraordinary voice, whom he sneaks back to Kabul to compete on the popular television show, “The Afghan Star,” Afghanistan’s equivalent of “American Idol.”’

The Variety report doesn’t mention is, but Murray will presumably play the manager. There’s no mention of when it might shoot either.

September 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The first trailer for 47 Ronin focussed on the action and the visual, but this new international promo gives us a better look at the supernatural side of Carl Rinsch’s movie.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Keanu Reeves makes an explosive return to action-adventure in 47 Ronin. After a treacherous warlord kills their master and banishes their kind, 47 leaderless samurai vow to seek vengeance and restore honor to their people. Driven from their homes and dispersed across the land, this band of Ronin must seek the help of Kai (Reeves)—a half-breed they once rejected—as they fight their way across a savage world of mythic beasts, shape-shifting witchcraft and wondrous terrors.
