James Marsden Taking A Walk of Shame With Elizabeth Banks

December 7, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A couple of days ago we had news that James Marsden may be returning as cyclops in X-Men: Days Of Future Past, and now he’s got another movie up his sleeve, as Variety reports that he’s signed up to star alongside Elizabeth Banks in Walk Of Shame, for director Steven Brill (Mr. Deeds).

The movie is about an uptight news anchor (Elizabeth Banks) wannabe, who goes on a bit of a binge and ends up having a one night stand after an interview for her dream job goes badly. The next morning she discovers that perhaps her dreams haven’t been dashed after all and she could still get the job, as long as she can get to the station in time. However she’s on the wrong side of town, with no money, phone, or ID. No details are known about James Marsden’s character.

It isn’t known when production will begin.

Azul Y No Tan Rosa (Blue And Not So Pink) Trailer – Take a look at the Venezuelan gay-themed flick

December 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Azul Y No Tan Rosa was released to acclaim in Venezuela last week (November 30th) and is now rolling out across Latin America. We’ve just come across the trailer for Miguel Ferrari’s film, but unfortunately unless you can speak Spanish you’ll just have to guess what they’re saying as there are no subtitles. However you can still get a great feel for the film, which will hopefully hit English-speaking territories sometime soon.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The story of Diego, a young and successful photographer that lives in the glamorous world of fashion, shallowness and excess. A tragic accident turns his world around; his partner is now in a coma. Unexpectedly, and right at this terrible time, Diego must take care of his son, Armando. Now, both of them have to adapt to each other; Armando to the unknown, homosexual world of his father, and Diego to the closed attitude of his teenage son.’

Chris Evans’ Gay Brother Scott Arrested In LA On Drug Charges

December 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When most people have a ‘ridiculous’ night, it doesn’t involve being arrested by undercover cops on drug charges, but that’s what happened to US soap star Scott Evans, brother of Captain America himself, Chris Evans.

TMZ reports the 29-year-old was caught during a sting operation and arrested for allegedly trying to buy narcotics from an LAPD officer who was posing as a drug dealer. He was  booked on felony charges of attempting to possess a controlled substance and released on bail after more than five hours in custody. It’s not known what type of drug he’s said to have tried to buy.

However Scott seems to be taking it all in his stride, writing on Facebook, ‘Most ridiculous night of my life in LA so far. At least I made it a year before getting arrested.’

Evans is best known in the US for playing gay police Officer Oliver Fish on the US soap opera, One Life to Live. He was on the show from 2008 through early 2010, coming out in 2009. His storyline culminated in a symbolic group gay wedding. He is also openly gay in real life.

Ben Whishaw Takes An Intriguing Gay Role In Lilting

December 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While there’s been a bit of speculation as to Ben Whishaw’s sexuality, he hasn’t had much to say about it. However that hasn’t stopped him playing the full range of possible proclivities, even recently turning Shakespeare’s Richard II rather gay in The Hollow Crown. He’s also, of course, been having huge success recently as the new Q in Skyfall.

Now he’s taken a gay role in the microbudget movie Lilting, from writer/director Hong Khaou (helmer of the excellent British gay shorts Summer and Spring), according to THR. The plot is slightly similar to Xavier Dolan’s upcoming Tom a la ferme, although whereas that film’s French Canadian, this one focussing on a Chinese mother (Cheng Pei Pei) who is grieving for her son (Andre Leung) after his untimely death. While they both lived in the UK, the Chinese born mother used her son as her conduit to living in Britain and is lost without him.

Feeling stranded in her adopted country, the only person she has left is her son’s friend (Ben Whishaw). However while she believes the young Brit was her son’s roommate, he was actually his lover. They come together, trying to overcome their differences – both culturally and through a difficult language barrier.

Peter Bowles and Morven Christie are also set to star in the film. Backing comes from FilmLondon’s ultra-low budget filmmaking fund, Microwave, which previously helped get iLL Manors made.

Khaou comments, “This film is very close to my heart. The support I’ve had through the mentors has been intelligent, insightful and imaginative. There was a genuine, considered care towards helping me anchor my voice and ideas.”

Star Trek Into Darkness Announcement Teaser Trailer – Has the villain been revealed?

December 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Star Trek fans prepare to get excited, as your first look at the upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness is here, with a brief announcement trailer. You can watch that above, along with a Japanese version below, which slightly different footage.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

‘With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.’

From the trailer we discover that Benedict Cumberbatch is one angry man, wanting plenty of revenge and causing all sorts of trouble. However we still don’t have a name for his character, which has led to plenty of speculation that he’ll be a JJ Abrams version of one of the classic Trek baddies. There are some people already suggesting that the Japanese version, with its 15 seconds of extra footage, gives a major hint as to exactly which villain it will be, [SPOILER ALERT] due to a shot of Kirk and Spock touching through a pane of glass, which is reminiscent of Star Trek II. And that could mean that as long speculated, Cumberbatch is Khan Noonien Singh. That’s still not confirmed but it’s seeming increasingly likely. [SPOILERS END]

Tron: Legacy Sequel Gets A New Writer, Jesse Wigutow

December 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Garrett Hedlund in Tron Legacy

When Disney was putting together Tron: Legacy they had grand plans for the franchise, but things faltered when the film didn’t turn into a massive hit. While it grossed $400 million on a $170 million budget, it wasn’t as profitable a venture as the studio has hoped.

For the last couple of years, it seemed Disney has given up on a planned third Tron film, but now it appears it’s back on the cards, with THR reporting that Jesse Wigutow has been hired to write the script. He’ll take over from David DiGilio (Eight Below) who’d been working on it some time ago, before the whole thing seemed to drop off the radar.

It’s not clear is Wigutow is rewriting the earlier script or if he’s starting over, perhaps planning something less costly than Tron: Legacy. When that movie was made, director Joseph Kosinski already had firm plans in place for where things should go next, saying that the next part would have a major role for the son of Quorra (Olivia Wilde) and Dillinger (Cillian Murphy).

Jesse Wigutow has only one screenplay credit to his name and it’s a very different one to Tron. he wrote 2003′s It Runs in the Family. However he has worked on a lot of upcoming projects, including a remake of The Crow, a do-over of The Osterman Weekend, a Steve McQueen biopic, as well as Disney’s Peter And The Starcatchers and a movie called Parallel.

It isn’t known when Disney hopes to get Tron 3 in cinemas.

Dennis Haysbert Joins Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Replacing Michael Clarke Duncan

December 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While many of the stars of 2005’s Sin City are set to reprise their roles in the sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, sadly one who cannot is Michael Clarke Duncan. He had been set to return as Manute, but tragically passed away in September at the age of 54.

Now THR reports that Dennis Haysbert is in talks to step into the role. Director Robert Rodriguez commented, “Manute is a character that has been part of the heart of the Sin City tales, and the late Michael Clarke Duncan beautifully established that role onscreen. We could not tell the story of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For without Manute and are thrilled to welcome Dennis Haysbert to the cast.”

In the original Sin City, Manute kidnaps Gail (Rosario Dawson), prompting Dwight (Clive Owen) to trade Gail for the head of Jackie Boy (Benicio Del Toro). The cinematic sequel is based on the first of Frank Miller’s graphic novels, where the hulking bodyguard/chauffeur works for the femme fatale Ava Lord’s husband, Damien Lord.

Mickey Rourke (Marv), Jessica Alba (Nancy), Rosario Dawson (Gail), and Jaime King (Goldie) are all returning for the sequel, with Jamie Chung replacing Devon Aoki as Miho. Production is currently on a break in Austin before resuming full-time in January.

Casey Affleck Takes On Boston Strangler Movie

December 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Warner Bros. has snapped up a pitch from Casey Affleck and screenwriter Chuck Maclean, entitled Boston Strangler, which, as you may have guessed, is based on the true story of the serial killer who terrorised the US city in the 1960s.

Deadline reports that Affleck is set to executive produce and also plans on playing one of the detectives in the Strangler Squad, who were tasked with finding the killer. Boston native Chuck Maclean will write the screenplay (his script ‘Bridges on the Fort Point Channel’ made the Black List last year). The film’s take of muderous tale is to follow an ambitious detective who is willing to risk it all to bring the mysterious murderer to justice, while battling a corrupt political system eager to save face and put the case behind them.

The Boston Strangler’s first victims were older women who lived by themselves. However, when a 21-year-old woman was found dead, a public frenzy ensued, putting even more pressure on the Boston justice system to close the case. Albert de Salvo was eventually charged and convicted with crimes unrelated to the killing spree, although the public was made to believe he was the man behind the 13 murders that spanned from 1962 to 1964. Some still believe that there was more than one killer involved in the crimes, and the authorities blamed Albert de Salvo simply to assuage the public’s fears.

Kristen Wiig Sought For Anchorman: The Legend Continues

December 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The seemingly endless saga of getting Anchorman 2 onto our screens continues, with TheWrap reporting that Kristen Wiig is being eyed for a role in the movie. If a deal is reached, she’d play the love interest of Steve Carell’s Brick Tamland.

Anchorman: The Continues already has Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner, and Christina Applegate set to return, with Adam McKay and Will Ferrell currently working on the script. All that is known about the story is that it will be set in the late 1970s and focusses on how the Action 4 News team tries to adapt to the changes in broadcast news.

Not too long ago is was revealed that director Adam McKay hopes to begin shooting in either January or February, but as it seems the script isn’t ready yet, things may get delayed.
