Tomcat Trailer – A happy gay relationship is brought to the edge by inexplicable violence

May 9, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We’re hoping to bring you a review of Tomcat as soon as we can, but as the film opened in the UK today exclusively at the ICA in London, we thought it would be well worth posting the trailer. It’s certainly a challenging film that starts off sweet and very sexy (and pretty explicit), before heading in some unexpected and rather dark places.

Indeed, there’s a scene some people will find it difficult to get past.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Andreas and Stefan lead a happy life: Together with their beloved tomcat Moses, they live in a beautiful old house in Vienna’s vineyards. They work as a musician and as a scheduler in the same orchestra and they love their large circle of friends. An unexpected and inexplicable outburst of violence suddenly shakes up the relationship and calls everything into question – the blind spot that resides in all of us.’

The movie won the Teddy Award for Best LGBT at the Berlin Film Festival in 2016. Take a look at the UK trailer below. [Read more…]

Rough Night Red Band Trailer – Scarlett Johansson & Kate McKinnon get bachelorette weekend crazy

May 9, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Will this be the female Hangover? It’s certainly got that vibe, with a group of friends having a raunchy, foul-mouthed night out ahead of a wedding. It’s also got a great cast, including Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer, and Zoë Kravitz.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In Rough Night, an edgy R-rated comedy, five best friends from college (played by Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer, and Zoë Kravitz) reunite 10 years later for a wild bachelorette weekend in Miami. Their hard partying takes a hilariously dark turn when they accidentally kill a male stripper. Amidst the craziness of trying to cover it up, they’re ultimately brought closer together when it matters most.’

The film will be in cinemas in June. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Hellboy Getting Rebooted With Stranger Things’ David Harbour Starring

May 9, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s nine years since Guillermo Del Toro and Ron Perlman last brought us a Hellboy movie, with The Golden Army. Since then they’ve both talked about the possibility of a third outing. While it always seemed like an outside bet, it was only a few months ago they Perlman seemed to extinguish all hope.

However, it turns out it’s not Hellboy’s film adventures that are over, just Del Toro and Perlman’s connection to it. The character’s creator, Mike Mignola, revealed on Facebook that the franchise is getting rebooted, with Stranger Things’ sheriff, David Harbour, in talks for the central role, and Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers) in talks to direct.

He’s also promised that the new Hellboy will be an r-rated adventure for the demon who ended up on earth as an infant during World War 2 and was raised by paranormal research scientist. Millennium Films is backing the movie, which may hit cinemas next year.

Although many will be said that Del Toro and Perlman won’t be back, many will pleased that’s not the end of the character’s adventures on the big screen. [Read more…]

The Freedom To Marry Trailer – A documentary look at how gay marriage came to the US

May 8, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Synopsis: ‘THE FREEDOM TO MARRY traces the marriage equality movement’s historic progress through the four decades of work by Evan Wolfson, the architect of the movement (who is the founder and president of Freedom to Marry), and pioneering civil rights attorney Mary Bonauto, who argued many of the key cases, including the landmark Obergefell v. Hodges decision.

‘This doc follows the team’s audacious battle over decades, starting in the 80s when gays and lesbians were a despised minority, through their final case before the United States Supreme Court seeking the right for all Americans to marry the person of their own choice. With fascinating depth, this film profiles the LGBT heroes who worked tirelessly for decades to make the dream of marriage equality a reality.’

The documentary will be released in the U.S. and Canada via Ro*Co Films on June 6th on VoD and across digital platforms including iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Ashton Sanders & Jharrel Jerome Win Best Kiss For Moonlight At The MTV Movie Awards

May 8, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Moonlight hasn’t doesn’t winning awards yet, as last night at the MTV Movie Awards, it picked up Best Kiss for the smooch between Ashton Sanders and Jharrel Jerome as the teenage versions of Chiron and Kevin. Of course the scene in question on the beach involved a bit more than just a kiss, but it was for the lip locking that they got their gong.

The two actors also had a powerful message, with Jerome saying, “On a real note, I think it is safe to say that it is OK for us young performers, especially us minority performers, to step out of the box. It’s OK for us to step out of the box and do whatever it takes to tell the story and whatever it takes to make the change. This award is for that. It’s for us artists who are out there, who need to do whatever it takes to get people to wake up.”

Sanders added, “This award is bigger than Jharrel and I. This represents more than a kiss. This is for those who feel like the others, the misfits – this represents us.”

You can take a look at their speech below. [Read more…]

Blade Runner 2049 Trailer – The future is full of mystery for Harrison Ford & Ryan Gosling

May 8, 2017 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Returning to the world of Blade Runner makes for an interesting trailer challenge for the studio’s marketing department. For many the film is one of the true classic of sci-fi, with a unique style and a tone that’s far more contemplative than most. However, there are also a lot of people out there who’ve never seen it and have grown up on a diet of bloated sci-fi excess. So how do you appeal to bother crowds.

Well, this trailer gives it a go, doing a good job of showing the effort that’s gone into recreating the grimy, holo-ad covered future, as well as that it will further explore how the likes of replicants work (with the help of a blind Jared Leto). It also shows that the scale has grown for those who demand non-stop action.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

‘The film also stars Ana de Armas, Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Barkhad Abdi, Lennie James, Mackenzie Davis, and Sylvia Hoeks.’

Blade Runner 2049 will be in cinemas in September. [Read more…]

Wonder Woman Final Trailer – Gal Gadot & Chris Pine bring superheroes to WWI

May 8, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Next month Warner/DC will be hoping that they’ll be getting better reviews for Wonder Woman than they did for their last few films, and that critics and fanboys will finally be getting a bit more excited about their filmic universe. The latest trailer certainly make it look like it’ll be fun.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

‘Patty Jenkins directs the film from a screenplay by Allan Heinberg, story by Zack Snyder & Allan Heinberg and Jason Fuchs, based on characters from DC. Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston.’

The movie will be in cinemas on June 1st. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

You Can’t Escape Lithuania Trailer – On the road after a murder in the gay-themed film

May 7, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I’ve never been to Lithuania, so I can’t attest how easy or not it is to escape from, but the title of this movie suggests you’ll have a few problems. A few of you may remember the film causing a bit of interest during its crowdfunding stage when director Romas Zabarauskas promised naked pics of himself to people who gave enough, and one of his actors also released some nude shots to increase interest in the film.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘After his star actress, Indre, murders her mother, rich-kid filmmaker Romas plans her escape from Lithuania. His sexy Mexican boyfriend Carlos helps them reluctantly. On the road, Romas begins shooting an improvised experimental film of the trip with his smartphone. As events take an unexpected turn, their secrets, memories and emotions make this journey wilder than any film Romas could have imagined.’

TLA Releasing is bringing out the film on DVD on the UK on July 10th. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Will & Grace’s Return Teased In A New Poster

May 7, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Less than 12 months ago, the Will & Grace team reunited for a pro-Hillary, anti-Trump 10-minute mini-episode. That’s now led to what few people expected – the show’s return to network TV for 12 brand new episode, which are due to start airing on NBC this autumn.

There are plenty of people excited to see what’s happened to Will, Grace, Jack and Karen (okay, mainly Jack and Karen) in the 11 years since the show went off air. There’s not been too much news on exactly what they’ll be up to or how their lives might have changed, but it’ll certainly be good to have them back.

You can take a look at the poster, which was posted by NBC, below. [Read more…]

New Dunkirk Trailer – Christopher Nolan takes us into the intensity of a massive World War II rescue

May 7, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Having spent years in the world of sci-fi and comic books with the Dark Knight films, Inception and Interstellar, Christopher Nolan is doing something a little different. However, as this trailer shows, it’s still going to be on a massive scale, as he attempts to take us deep into events in Dunkirk during the Second World War.

The ensemble cast also includes Harry Styles (One Direction) making his feature film debut.

‘Christopher Nolan (“Interstellar,” “Inception,” “The Dark Knight” Trilogy) is directing “Dunkirk” from his own original screenplay, utilizing a mixture of IMAX® and 65mm film to bring the story to the screen.

“Dunkirk” opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.’
