There’s been a bit of a movement online recently that in the sequel to Frozen, Disney should give Elsa a girlfriend, following many years os people pointing at that while animation has gotten slowly more diverse, Disney’s output has remained pretty heterosexual (although there was a brief hint in Frozen that sauna owner Oaken was gay). However, now a Reddit thread suggests that there’s decent evidence that the House Of Mouse may have included a married gay couple in the recently released Zootropolis (known as Zootopia in the US).
In the movie, the young rabbit hero, Judy Hopps, moves to a city full of animals in the hope of becoming the first bunny to become a police officer. In her new apartment, she has two noisy antelope neighbours called Bucky and Pronk. While the movie is far from explicit – and the characters could have just been roommates – there is one strong hint they are actually married.
While there has previously been suggestions that they are gay, there hasn’t been a huge amount of evidence, but a viewer spotted that in the credits they are listed as Bucky Oryx-Antlerson and Pronk Oryx-Antlerson. That could mean they are brothers, but the double-barelling of the surname is suggestive that they’ve actually a couple. It is all pretty subtle and far from the more open LGBT characters in the likes of Paranorman, but it is perhaps at least a small step in the right direction.
There’s a lot of concern about what young people get up to online, and that seems to be something Catfish’s Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost’s Nerve, about an online game of truth or dare. However, as it’s a movie things soon get out of hand.
It’s certainly a bold (if short) synopsis to say a movie is ‘One of the scariest movies in decades, THE WOODS reinvents horror with a completely fresh and terrifying take on the genre.’ However, that’s the claim being made for Adam Wingard’s latest.
In November 2014 many were surprised to hear that
After spending the last episode trying to decide whether to do gay porn or not, Danny is now on the set and getting ready for his big scene. However, he’s having a few issues, not with his equipment but with the dialogue before he gets to down to business. It’s not the traditional issues with bad acting, it’s more than Danny can’t quite work out what sort of improvisation is needed.
Perhaps more than any other series, Orange Is The New Black that proved streaming services could not just compete with the major TV networks but better many of them. The show is heading into Season 4, and the trailer has now arrived.
Swiss Army Man is a film first, as it’s almost certainly the only movie in history that almost immediately become knows as the ‘farting corpse movie’. It’s also resulted in the most unlikely headline for a post I think I’ve ever written. The first trailer gave us a taste of just how bizarre and Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano movie was, and now that’s been amplified with a Red Band trailer.
While Ridley Scott signing on to direct a movie doesn’t always mean he’ll actually end up behind the camera – he likes to have a lot of film in development, only some of which he ends up making –
Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers debuted to mixed reviews at Sundance, and now we get to see why, as it looks absolutely crazy. The first trailer has arrived, which show this is Smith at his most nuts.
Back in 2012 Gael Garcia Bernal was attached to the title role in Zorro Reborn, a futuristic take on the classic sword-swishing character, which had Ricardo de Monteuil loosely set to direct. However, the movie never happened and got trapped in development hell. However, the producers didn’t give up on the idea.
