Bryan Singer Is Having A Child With Queer As Folk’s Michelle Clunie

October 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Bryan-SingerBisexual director Bryan Singer has decided he wants to become a family man, as E! News reports he’s set to become a dad. The mother is actress Michelle Clunie, and while she and Singer aren’t a couple they do intend to raise the child together.

Singer’s rep comments, “Best friends for 25 years, mother and father are both very excited about the upcoming birth and look forward to co-parenting the child together. The pair have been planning this baby for years and have been trying for the last two.”

Clunie isn’t acting as a surrogate, but it’s now known whether she conceived via artificial insemination or whether Singer allowed his bisexual side out for the occasion.

It’s also being reported that Singer has bought a house for Clunie so that the two can be closer together and make it easier for them to raise the baby.

The child is due sometime in early 2015.

It’s certainly better news than Singer’s been having for the last few months, where he’s been mired in legal woes stemming from allegations of sex abuse and rape of an underage boy. However the cases filed against him have since been dropped due to issues over the reliability of his main accuser, Michael F. Egan (who’s getting into trouble himself now, with cases taken against him for malicious prosecution, and in the last week he was admonished by a judge over lying about whether lawyers had been helping him with his defence or not).

And if you’re wondering why we’re referring to Singer as bisexual when most have always referred to him as gay, earlier this year he told Out, “I’m quite bisexual. In the last five years, I’ve had two girlfriends—one for two years, one for eight months…In the end, it’s probably going to be a guy. I emotionally lean towards male relationships, so I’m happy to say I’m gay, too, if it’s a one-syllable, easy answer.”

Sebastian Stan Goes Into Ricki And The Flash Opposite Meryl Streep

October 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sebastian-stanSebastian Stan is going to be a busy boy. He still got loads of movies to go in his Marvel contract (he’s made two Captain Americas and it’s believed he’s contracted for seven more Marvel flicks), he recently signed to appear in Ridley Scott’s The Martian and now Deadline reports he’s going to appear opposite Meryl Streep in Ricki And The Flash.

In the movie Stan will play Joshua, the estranged son of Streep’s fading rock chick. Her dreams of stardom resulted in her losing her family, however as one of her children goes through an ugly divorce, she has a chance of reconnecting with them, and perhaps also living out her rock fantasies.

Kevin Kline and Rick Springfield are also set to star, with Jonathan Demme directing from a screenplay by Diablo Cody (Young Adult). It’s believed Stan will shoot the movie between his duties on The Martian and when he’s due on the set for Captain America 3.

Sam Claflin & Lily James Up For Their Finest Hour and a Half

October 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sam-claflinHunger Games star Sam Claflin is teaming up with Lily James – who’s soon to become a much bigger name thanks to playing the title role in Disney’s upcoming Cinderella – for Their Finest Hour And A Half, based on Lissa Evans’s novel, according to Deadline.

The novel ‘follows the misadventures of a British movie crew trying to make a patriotic film to boost morale after the Blitz during World War II.’ It was very well received on its release, with Evans winning the Orange Prize for best book written by a female author.

Lone Scherfig (One Day, An Education) is set to direct the movie, which will reteam her with Claflin following The Riot Club. Their Finest Hour And A Half will look for buyers at next month’s AFM with the hope of filming in 2015.

Director Paul Greengrass Is Going Into The Tunnels

October 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Paul-GreengrassWhile Paul Greengrass signing up for a movie is far different from him actually directing it (he has a tendency to pick up and leave movies behind), he’s recently agreed to helm The Tunnels, based on an upcoming book by Greg Mitchell.

It will tell the true story of a covert escape mission, where West Germans tried to get their friends and family out of East Berlin during the Cold War. Their group received surprising support from an American news organization, who funded their efforts.

It’s very early days as currently the book has moved beyond the proposal stage, so it will be a while before it’s ready to be turned into a script. That may give Greengrass time to shoot another Bourne movie before he moves into The Tunnels, as he’s currently in talks to reteam with Matt Damon for another adventure.

Suite Francaise Trailer – Michelle Williams deals with the German invasion of France

October 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Suite-Francaise-slideMany of the films hoping for Oscar nominations are already busy jostling for position, but now we get one that may be up for BAFTAs next year, but without a confirmed 2014 US release set, may not be up for the Oscars. The film is Suite Francaise, which has just released its first trailer.

Based on the best-selling book by Irene Nemirovsky and set during the German occupation of France in the 1940’s, Suite Française tells the story of Lucille Angellier (Michelle Williams) as she awaits news from her husband, a prisoner of war.

As Parisian refugees pour into their small town, soon followed by a regiment of German soldiers who take up residence in the villagers’ homes, Lucile’s life is turned upside down – further complicated by the arrival of refined German officer, Bruno (Matthias Schoenaerts).

The movie is due out January 23rd 2015 in the UK. [Read more…]

Into The Woods Featurette – First chance to hear Anna Kendrick, Meryl Streep & co. sing

October 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Anna Kendrick in Into The Woods

Anna Kendrick in Into The Woods

While the Into The Woods trailer we got a few weeks ago was pretty cool, it did have one major element missing – singing. In fact if you didn’t know anything about the movie you wouldn’t have even known it was a musical.

However now we get our first chance to hear the cast sing in a new featurette about the film’s story, which includes Anna Kendrick, James Corden, Emily Blunt, and Meryl Streep singing I Wish and Streep adding a bit of Stay With Me too.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Into the Woods is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy)—all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife (James Corden & Emily Blunt), their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch (Meryl Streep) who has put a curse on them.

‘Rob Marshall, the talented filmmaker behind the Academy Award®-winning musical “Chicago” and Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” helms the film, which is based on the Tony®-winning original musical by James Lapine, who also penned the screenplay, and legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, who provides the music and lyrics. Produced by Marshall, John DeLuca, “Wicked” producer Marc Platt and Callum McDougall, “Into the Woods” hits UK cinemas Jan, 9 2015.’ [Read more…]

Margot Robbie Up To join Tina Fey In The Taliban Shuffle

October 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Margot-RobbieMargot Robbie must have made an impression on directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa on the set of the upcoming Focus, as Variety reports that she’s set to re-team with them for The Taliban Shuffle, which already has Tina Fey set to star.

Based on Kim Barker’s memoir, which follows her after she first arrived in Kabul as a journalist in 2002. At the time she barely owned a passport, spoke only English and had little idea how to do the ‘Taliban Shuffle’ between Afghanistan and Pakistan. However, her stories about Islamic militants and shaky reconstruction were soon overshadowed by the bigger news in Iraq. But as she delved deeper into Pakistan and Afghanistan, her love for the hapless countries grew, along with her fear for their future stability.

Tina Fey is set to be Barker, with Margot Robbie as a ‘hard-core on-air news anchor’ who will do anything it takes to get the story, including putting others in danger.

Ficara and Requa are directing from a script by Robert Carlock.

Avengers: Age Of Utron Teaser Trailer – Heroes old and new unite

October 23, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

avengers-age-of-ultron-poster1We weren’t meant to get the Avengers: Age Of Utron teaser until next week, but after the trailer leaked Marvel quickly decided that rather than trying to put the genie back in the bottle they’d go with it and release official versions.

It’s certainly a big one, offering a great look at the movie, including new heroes such as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, along with plenty of creepily robotic bad guys and an Iron Man who looks like tank. It also suggests things won’t go well for everyone, and that even an adamantium shield may not protect you.

And and keep an eye out for this shot:
