David Beckham’s Wet Bulge Stars In A Guy Ritchie Directed H&M Short

February 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

David Beckham must be making an awful lot of money from his deal with with H&M, but as well as cash it also lets him indulge in his favourite hobby – being photographed in underwear.

For the spring campaign H&M have teamed him with filmmaker Guy Ritchie to make a short film where he quickly gets stripped to his undies and even decides to jump into a pool so that it’s even more difficult to ignore his bulge.

Even if (or indeed because) its more about Beckhams’s man bits that ever before, it’s still quite fun, with David get locked out of his house and then running after his robe, which has gotten trapped in a car door. As you’d expect a lot of people are surprised to see him running through the streets of LA in his undies.

Take a look at the short above, while a couple of new pics of Beckham are below (click for larger versions).

Oz The Great And Powerful Superbowl Spot – James Franco heads for a fantastical world

February 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s just about a month until Disney release Oz The Great And Powerful on the world, and they’ll be hoping for Alice In Wonderland style returns on their hefty investment. Now a short Superbowl spot has emerged, giving us another quick glimpse into Sam Raimi’s take on L. Frank Baum’s classic fantastical world.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting.

‘Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.’

The Lone Ranger Extended Superbowl Spot – Hi ho Johnny Depp

February 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Although some of the special effects shots in this extended TV spot look a little dodgy (hopefully that’ll be sorted out before the film is released), The Lone Ranger certainly seems like it’ll be spectacular and fun – which is what you’d hope considering the $200+ million budget.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, the filmmaking team behind the blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, comes Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ “The Lone Ranger,” a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes.Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.’

The film will be released on August 9th, 2013.

Star Trek Into Darkness Superbowl Spot – Fresh look at JJ Abrams’ much anticipated sequel

February 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

What we’ve seen of Star Trek Into Darkness so far suggests a more Earth-based tale than we’re used to, and that’s certainly true of this Superbowl spot, although it’s tough to tell whether that’s because we’re just being shown our world coming under destruction or if there really will be less trekking to stars in this adventure.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

‘With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.’

The film hits cinemas May 17th, 2013, with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg and Anton Yelchin all returning, and Benedict Cumberbatch as the villainous John Harrison (who many think is actually Khan).

Benedict Cumberbatch Taking On Gay Scientist Alan Turing In Imitation Game

February 2, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Benedict-CumberbatchAlthough everyone seems to agree that making a movie about Alan Turing is a good idea, it’s been tough to bring The Imitation Game to the big screen. Leo DiCaprio flirted with the lead role and the likes of J Blakeson have come and gone from the directing chair.

Most recently Headhunters helmer Morten Tyldum stepped up to helm and now he may have found his Turing in the form of Benedict Cumberbatch.

Turing is famed for helping the Allies defeat the Germans in World War II by breaking codes and building machines that were the forerunners of modern computers (which were based on his theories). However, in the 1950s he was prosecuted by the British government for being gay.

Turing made the extreme decision to undergo chemical castration instead of going to prison. In 1954 he died from cyanide poisoning, with many believing he killed himself by dosing an apple with the substance (although there are still come who believe it was accidental).

Graham Moore wrote the screenplay, which landed atop the Black List in 2011. There’s no studio attached yet, but the hope is they’ll get all the financing sorted once Cumberbatch officially signs on. (Source: Deadline)

Zachary Quinto Wants To Adopt In Dog Eat Dog Short Film

January 31, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Zachary Quinto has adopted – a dog, that is. Now he wants us all to see his experience getting a doggy, in exaggerated short film form. The money for Dog Eat Dog was raised through Kickstarter, with a portion of the budget donated to the LA Shelter System.

Quinto says, “This story is very close to all of us, as we have all rescued or fostered dogs over the years. The story of the film is an exaggerated account of how I eventually found my rescue dog Noah, but it still reflects a bit of the reality I faced when I was looking to adopt a shelter dog.”

Take a look at the 13-minute short above, all about how one man can get very attached to a rescue dog before he’s even been allowed to take it home, and tries to beat out Philip Baker Hall to be the adoptive doggy daddy.

Dave Franco Talks Gay – ‘If you Google my name, the first thing that comes up is ‘Dave Franco Gay”

January 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

dave-franco-f-yourselfFor a few years Dave Franco was only ever thought of as James’ little brother, but thanks to the likes of Fright Night and 21 Jump Street he’s really started coming into his own (and many have suggested he’s beginning to beat his older bro in the hotness stakes). Other people know him best for his Funny Or Die vids, which tend to have a very homoerotic air, such as ‘You’re So Hot’, which he did with Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and ‘Go F*ck Yourself’, which he takes very literally (you can watch both below).

Now the actor has given what’s being billed as his first gay interview, conducted by Chris Azzopardi for Pridesource, ahead of the release of his new movie, Warm Bodies. And like brother James, he really does embrace the gays, even if Dave is more about comedy while James is a bit more political.

When asked when he was first aware of his gay following, he says, “My friend I grew up with started calling me out and saying, “Dude, I can’t even imagine what people who don’t know you think of you.” It’s not like I’m doing these videos because I’m trying to shock or confuse people. I’m generally drawn toward material that’s just different and unique and is gonna maybe surprise people a bit. So I was first aware that there was maybe some awareness of me from the gay community when all my friends were telling me there’s all this stuff online and if you Google my name, the first thing that comes up is ‘Dave Franco Gay.’ (Laughs)”

So are his videos a way of showing support for the gay community? “Yeah, sure – definitely! I have gay friends and of course I’m comfortable enough with my sexuality that I’m open to doing videos like that,” he says. “I know a huge audience is going to think that I am gay. I’m just trying to blur the lines, I guess. I’m not consciously trying to do that, but it’s not something I think about. Like with my friends who are gay, it’s not like that’s the first thing I associate with them. They’re just another friend, and they just happen to like guys.”

But why are so many of his videos so gay? “There are a lot of very overtly gay things in these videos, but for some reason while I was making them, or while I was even initially thinking of the ideas, I swear to god I didn’t think, ‘OK, we’re gonna make another gay video that’s gonna shock people’,” he says. “The way ‘You’re So Hot’ came about: I worked with Chris on a movie called ‘Fright Night’ and in between takes we would play this game. It was a game that he and his buddies played growing up and it just made me laugh my ass off, so when the movie was done and we were back in L.A. I thought to myself, ‘This would make a really funny short.”’

He’s also asked about the fact both he and his brother embrace the gay world, and whether there’s any overlap in the way they do it. “That’s a good question,” he says. “The main overlap is just how hard we dive into it. There’s nothing subtle, I guess, about how we embrace gay culture – and there basically are no boundaries. We both push the envelope.

“I don’t know why a lot of what we create deals with that subject matter. I get asked that all the time, and I’m not consciously thinking to myself, ‘I’m gonna make these sexually explicit gay videos.’ It just comes through us for some reason.”

Alfred Molina & Michael Gambon Getting Married For Keep The Lights On Director Ira Sachs

January 20, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

michael-gambon-alfred-molina-ira-sachsFor many people, Ira Sachs’ Keep The Lights On was the gay movie of 2012, earning huge critical plaudits and several awards. Now the helmer is plotting his follow up and thanks to the success of Keep The Lights On, he’s getting some better known names to help him.

Deadline reports it’s emerged at Sundance that Michael Gambon and Alfred Molina are attached to play a married couple in Love Is Strange, which like Sachs’ earlier film, will look at the ups and downs of a gay relationship.

The film will see Gambon and Molina as a couple who’ve been together a long time and decide to get married in New York (where gay marriage is legal). However following their nuptials, they’re forced to live apart.

The plan is to shoot the movie this summer in NYC.

It’s fitting that news of the movie has been revealed at Sundance, as Keep The Lights On got its world premiere at the festival last year.

Daniel Radcliffe Talks About His Gay Sex Scenes In Kill Your Darlings

January 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

kill-your-darlings-daniel-radcliffe-dane-dehaanDaniel Radcliffe is in Utah for the premiere of Kill Your Darlings at the Sundance Film Festival, in which he plays gay poet Allan Ginsberg. TheImproper was at last night’s screening and managed to catch what the former Harry Potter had to say about his gay sex scenes in the film, which includes ‘oral sex, making out and getting naked for sex, all with men.’

“It was something new,” Radcliffe said. “But you know what, we shot that whole scene in maybe an hour and a half so it was incredibly fast-paced. I didn’t really have time to stop to think and worry about it.”

He also thinks getting to know his scene-mate helped. “We were able to hang out a little bit on set and get to know each other a little bit, which I think is important when you’re doing a scene so intimate. “You have to feel like you’re both in it together.”

The movie charts how a murder helped shape the lives of a group of young men who went on to become the beat generation. Chronicle star DeHaan plays Lucien Carr, the man who introduced Howl writer Allen Ginsberg to the likes of William S. Burroughs (Ben Foster) and Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston). Indeed, Ginsberg later said that “Lou was the glue” that brought the beat poets and writers together.

During these early, hedonistic days, a man called David Kammerer (Michael C. Hall) fell for Carr, with his infatuation becoming increasingly obsessive and unhinged – Ginsberg once discovered Kammerer trying to murder Jack Kerouac’s cat. It eventually resulted in Carr stabbing Kammerer to death him and going to prison for his murder. The violent event is said to have indelibly changed all the people involved and etched its way into the published works of the Beat writers.

Although Carr said the killing took place after he rejected Kammerer’s sexual advances and was assaulted as a result, many have suggested that Lucien wasn’t as heterosexual as he made out, and that he and Ginsberg had been lovers. The full truth of what happened may never be known. Whatever happened, it was a pivotal moment for Ginsberg, who had been exceptionally close to Carr whether they’d been lovers or not.

The film is said to look at all this, with many giving it good notices from its Sundance premiere.
