Closet Monster Trailer – Things get edgy for a teen unsure of his sexuality

August 6, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

closet-monster-slideIt’s slightly difficult to know what Closet Monster is all about from this trailer, although it certainly make if look adgy and intriguing.

So what’s it all about, well, IMDB just says, ‘A creative and driven teenager is desperate to escape his hometown and the haunting memories of his turbulent childhood.’ Variety has previously offered a tiny bit more, and certainly says it might be an odd one, saying the film, ‘follows an imaginative teenager with dysfunctional parents who is unsure of his sexuality. He creates an unusual universe to help him confront his demons; Isabella Rossellini voices a talking hamster in the film.’

The movie, which is the feature debut of Canadian director Stephen Dunn, is set to screen at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. [Read more…]

New Hitman: Agent 47 Trailer – Zachary Quinto gets subdermal titanium body armor!

August 6, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

HITMAN_UK_POSTER_LARGEIt’s only a few years since we had a Hitman movie starring Timothy Olyphant, but as it didn’t leave much of an impression, Fox has decided it’s time for another movie version of the popular video game, this time with Rupert Friend in the title role, joined by Zachary Quinto in villainous mode.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘HITMAN: AGENT 47 centers on an elite assassin who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. He is the culmination of decades of research – and forty-six earlier Agent clones — endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence. His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe.’

The movie hits cinemas on August 27th. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

Aaron Taylor-Johnson & Michael Shannon Will Be Nocturnal Animals Alongside Jake Gyllenhaal

August 6, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

avengers-age-of-ultron-aaron-taylor-johnsonTom Ford had great success going from fashion designed to film director with A Single Man, and now he’s planning his second movie, Nocturnal Animals, and is lining up a great cash to cast. Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal are already attached to star, and now they’re being joined by Michael Shannon and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, according to Variety.

Adapted from Austin Wright’s 1993 novel Tony And Susan, Nocturnal Animals sees, ‘The first of the two-part story follows a woman (Adams) who receives a book manuscript from her ex-husband, who she left 20 years earlier, asking for her opinion. The second part revolves around a man (Gyllenhaal) whose family vacation turns violent.

‘Shannon will play a detective investigating the violent incident Gyllenhaal’s family is involved with and Taylor-Johnson plays a mysterious figure who may pose a threat to Gyllenhaal’s family.’

The movie should shoot later this year.

Taron Egerton Sought For Robin Hood: Origins

August 6, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

taron-egertonThere are quite a few films based around Robin Hood in development at various studios in Hollywood, all of which are hoping to be the first to reach cinemas. Robin Hood: Origins may have started to move ahead of the pack, as Deadline reports that Taron Egerton is now in talks to play the title role.

As the title suggests the movie will be about the legendary character’s early days. However it’s not going back too far, as here Robin ‘returns from fighting in The Crusades and finds that Sherwood Forest is rife with corruption and evil. He forms a band of outlaws and they take matters into their own hands.’

Egerton’s involvement isn’t guaranteed as he may have scheduling issues with the planned Kingsman sequel. Joby Harold wrote the script, with Otto Bathurst set to direct.

Fantastic Four (Cinema Review)

August 6, 2015 By Mike Martin Leave a Comment

Starring: Miles Teller, Toby Kebbell, Jamie Bell, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan
Director: Josh Trank
Running Time: 110 mins
Certificate: 12A
Release Date: August 6th 2015

When even a film’s own cast start mumbling about how they haven’t seen it, that it’s probably a bit rubbish, and that it’s not a critics’ film, you know you’re in trouble. Sure enough, this latest version of a story which had a perfectly decent outing all of 10 years ago turns out to be a dud. It’s the usual reasons to blame too – a dog of a script, wooden half-hearted acting and a boring story about saving the world. To be fair, the special effects are actually pretty good, and some minor characters put in a shift, but in the preview screening people started walking out after 10 minutes.

Do we really have to go through the whole set-up of how they become the Four? Apparently we do, so we get a full hour of Teller’s Reed Richards inventing a teleportal machine which sends sand, chimps and then humans to an undiscovered planet that turns out to have an inexhaustible supply of power. He teams up with Johnny Storm (Jordan, ok), Sue Storm (Mara, half-asleep), Victor von Doom (Kebbell, chewing scenery) and his old pal Ben Grimm (Jamie Bell, adequate) to complete the work, but an accident sees Doom stranded on the planet alone while the other four return to Earth with strange powers. Apropos Of Nothing: Stag Gay Condoms Want To Ensure You Don’t Leave Your Back Door Unprotected (Video)

August 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

stag-condoms-promoThere’s a bit of a mixed message in the sexy new video from gay condom specialists, Stag, as the promo suggests it’s about making sure you don’t let your back door be unprotected, but quite frankly if the result is a house full of full, buff guys wearing only the skimpest of underwear and massaging one another, you can kind of see the attraction of not protecting you back door at all.

However it’s probably best not to worry to much about the metaphor and just stick with the idea that condom=good, not-condom=bad.

I’m also not entirely sure how Stag manages to get the moniker, ‘The Original Gay Condoms’, partly because condoms don’t actually have a sexuality and partly because it’s not clear what actually makes them gay (maybe we need to experiment with some straight boys by giving them some and seeing what happens). Anyway, take a look at the hot vid below. [Read more…]

In The Grayscale Trailer – A man leaves his wife and starts to fall for a guy

August 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

in-the-greyscale-slideIn the last few years South America has become the brithplace of some of the most interesting gay-themed cinema around. Hopefully that will continue with In The Grayscale, from Chile, which Wolfe Video will release in the US this November.

It’s certainly got a good pedigree, as it won Outstanding First Feature award at the Frameline LGBT film festival in San Francisco.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘When we first encounter successful 35-year-old Bruno (Celhay), he has just made the difficult decision to separate from his loving wife in order to sort through his feelings. His concerned family calls it a selfish choice, and the couple’s young son is understandably confused and hurt by his doting dad’s decision to leave, but their familial bond appears strong. After Bruno is approached to design a new architectural landmark, he is introduced to Fer (Edwards), a local tour guide with unique access to the soul of Santiago’s gorgeous cityscape, both ancient and modern. This professional hookup quickly turns to flirtation and much more, complicated by the undeniable chemistry—intellectual and physical—between the handsome leads.’

August 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Deadpool Trailer – The Merc With A Mouth is here and he’s Red Band

August 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Deadpool-logo-posterOver the years a Deadpool movie was in the works many fans were worried that the notoriously sarcastic, rude and violent character would get toned down and made family friendly, much as he was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

However the first trailer is very keen to show while Deadpool may have come from the X-Men universe, this is going to be an R-rated movie with plenty of blood, bad language and humour – complete with the character’s trademark breaking of the fourth wall.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, T.J. Miller and Ed Skrein’.

The movie’s out February 2016. [Read more…]

August 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

everest-poster1-slideThere’s no doubt that things are dangerous when you go mountaineering, and that’s certainly true in Everest, which follows the events of what was the biggest tragedy on the mountain until the recent Nepal earthquake.

August 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

will-smithWill Smith is the new Hugh Jackman, or at least he is in Collateral Beauty, as Deadline reports that Smith is in talks to replace the Aussie star, who dropped out of the lead role a few weeks ago.

Johnny Depp was previously rumoured to be in the frame, but it’s now gone to Will.
