July 28, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Maze-Runner-Poster2People around the world have probably been wondering what The Maze Runner is all about, so 20th Century Fox has come up with a poster to make things clear – in the movie there will be a maze, and people will do some running. Who would have thought?

It’s actually not a bad image though, even if it does seem a little to literal for our tastes.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Based on the best-selling young adult thriller, THE MAZE RUNNER is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where Thomas is deposited in a community of young men after his memory is erased. After learning they’re all trapped in a maze, Thomas joins forces with fellow “runners” to not only escape the maze, but solve its riddle and reveal the chilling secret of who brought them there, and why.’

Dylan O’Brien, Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelaria, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Patricia Clarkson star. It’ll be out in cinemas in October.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 Teaser Trailer – Revolution is brewing for Katniss and co.

July 28, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hunger-games-mockingjay-poster-slideIt’s here! After some smart marketing where The Capitol has been calling for unity in a very iron fist in a velvet glove way, the teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is here, and you can watch it below.

Revolution seems inevitable, but Katniss still isn’t sure if she wants to be the poster child for it, even if the Districts do need someone to rally around. The teaser also gives us a look at Julianne Moore as Alma Coin, whose feeling about Katniss may not be entirely altruistic.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is due out November 21st, 2014, with the final film (until an inevitable further sequel or spin-off is announced), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, out the same time the following year.

Take a look at the teaser trailer below. [Read more…]

Mad Max: Fury Road Comic Con Trailer – Tom Hardy gets apocalyptic in the awesome first footage

July 27, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

mad-max-fury-road-character-poster1-slideThis year there have been fewer trailer than usual that first screened at Comic Con and were shortly afterwards available online. However now we have a doozy, as the Comic Con trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road has been released, and it looks pretty awesome.

We still have to wait until May next year to see it, but it’s starting to seem like the ridiculously long wait we’ve had for the movie (it shot in 2012) will be worth it. Take a look at the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.

‘Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order… There’s Max, a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos.

‘And… Furiosa, a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.’

And if the trailer isn’t enough, take a look at the character posters we posted earlier today. [Read more…]

Win The Gay-Themed Rom-Com Love Or Whatever On DVD!

July 27, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Love-Or-Whatever-Cover-UK-DVD-coverThe rom-com Love Or Whatever arrives on DVD in the UK on July 28th, courtesy of TLA Releasing. We’ve teamed up with them to give away three copies in this comp.

By and large, things are going well for Corey (Tyler Poelle). He’s a successful young therapist who recently purchased a gorgeous pair of engagement rings. Corey plans to propose to his long-term boyfriend Jon (David Wilson Page). Jon, however, might not be ready for such an important life-long commitment. In an effort to sew his wild oats, Jon begins having an affair with a woman (Jenica Bergere). Worse yet, it turns out that she’s one of Corey’s patients!

The formerly happy couple is soon broken apart and Corey is devastated—that is, until his brassy, lesbian sister Kelsey (Jennifer Elise Cox) introduces him to the wonders of social media and how easy it is for gay men to get laid these days. Faster than you can log into Grindr, Corey begins seeing a hunky guy named Pete (Joel Rush).

Pete seems to have everything a young, successful gay guy could ask for, but when Jon comes crawling back for forgiveness, Corey finds himself with a very difficult decision to make. Love or Whatever is packed with hysterically funny dialogue, a stellar cast (which includes plenty of beefy eye candy) and a perfect balance between wild humor and heart-warming romance.

If you’d like to try and win one of the three copies of Love Or Whatever on DVD that we’ve got to give away, answer the question below and fill in your details, then press submit! The competition closes on August 9th 2014, so get answering and good luck! [Read more…]

Charges Dropped Against Bryan Singer In One Of His Sex Abuse Lawsuits

July 27, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bryan-singerBryan Singer will probably be breathing a little easier today, as the charges in one of the two sex abuse lawsuits he’s facing have been dropped. His accuser dropped the suit and the charges have now been ‘dismissed with prejudice’ by the courts (meaning no other case can be filed against Singer based around these accusations)), according to THR.

The suit revolved around writer/producer Gary Goddard’s interactions with an anonymous young British man. Goddard is said to have first got to know the accuser via social media in 2003 when he was 14. Singer was brought into the suit as it’s alleged that thanks to Goddard, he ‘had sex with the plaintiff at a Superman after afterparty in a London hotel room when the plaintiff was 17… The boy resisted, the suit continues, but Goddard brought in a “large, musclebound man” who smacked the teenager around, holding him while Singer grabbed him and Goddard, naked on the bed, watched. Singer then allegedly attempted to rape the plaintiff.’

The X-Men director always strenuously denied the claims, and also argued that it shouldn’t be heard in a US court anyway, as all the events alleged against him are said to have taken place in the UK. However the lawsuit says that ‘the California age of consent, 18, should apply because Singer and Goddard allegedly formulated their sexual plans regarding the teen while in California. In addition, the federal age, also 18, assertedly applies to travel from the U.S. for sexual purposes.’

Singer still faces another lawsuit brought by Michael Egan, who alleges Singer tried to rape him in Hawaii in the late 90s, amongst other underage sexual abuse accusation. However while Egan originally sued three other men – including Goddard – he has since dropped the suits against the others. The Singer suit remains, although many feel it has little chance of success.

Studebrity Trailer – Looking at the social media guys who are famous solely for being hot

July 27, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

studlebrity-slideIf you use social media sites such as Tumblr or Instagram, you’ll probably be familiar with random pictures of the same guy coming across your dashboard. Often you have no idea who they are, but every new image or video of them seems to get passed around just so that we can admire the prettiness.

A new documentary, Studlebrity, has decided to take a look at this phenomenon, and features such noted shirtless folk as Mark & Ethan, Topher DiMaggio, Pablo Hernandez and Murray Swanby.

Here’s the synopsis:  ‘We are inundated with guys famous for… well we don’t really know what. But they have over 10,000 followers on Twitter and when they post a carefully posed shirtless shot on Instagram they have an army of followers giving it an enthusiastic thumbs-up.

‘His handsome face and sculpted physique have helped pave the way to a charmed life — or at least that’s the only part he’ll ever reveal on his social network.

‘He’s pretty. He knows it. And he wants to share every moment of his pretty life with you.

‘STUD-LEBRITY is sun soaked, saturated with color and sweat, and filmed in a high paced, glossy magazine style.

‘Using a combination of archival video and photos from our studs in conjunction with new original interview and photo-shoot style footage we’ve created a layered look at this unique male mayhem.’

Dear White People Trailer – Being black (and gay) in a traditionally white space in the culture war comedy

July 27, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

dear-white-peopleWinner of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival’s Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent, Dear White People is a sly, provocative satire of race relations in the age of Obama. Openly gay writer/director Justin Simien follows a group of African American students as they navigate campus life and racial politics at a predominantly white college in a sharp and funny feature film debut that earned him a spot on Variety’s annual “10 Directors to Watch.” When Dear White People screened at MOMA’s prestigious New Directors/New Films, the New York Times’ A.O. Scott wrote, “Seeming to draw equal measures of inspiration from Whit Stillman and Spike Lee, but with his own tart, elegant sensibility very much in control, Mr. Simien evokes familiar campus stereotypes only to smash them and rearrange the pieces.”

The unexpected election of activist Samantha White (Tessa Thompson) as head of a traditionally black residence hall sets up a college campus culture war that challenges conventional notions of what it means to be black. While Sam leverages her notoriety as host of the provocative and polarizing radio show “Dear White People” to try to prevent the college from diversifying Armstrong Parker House, outgoing head-of-house Troy Fairbanks (Brandon P. Bell), son of the university’s dean (Dennis Haysbert), defies his father’s lofty expectations by applying to join the staff of Pastiche, the college’s influential humor magazine. Lionel Higgins (Tyler James Williams), an Afro-sporting sci-fi geek – who is also gay – is recruited by the otherwise all-white student newspaper to go undercover and write about black culture—a subject he knows little about—while the aggressively assimilated Coco Conners (Teyonah Parris) tries to use the controversy on campus to carve out a career in reality TV.

But no one at Winchester University is prepared for Pastiche’s outrageous, ill-conceived annual Halloween party, with its “unleash your inner Negro” theme throwing oil on an already smoldering fire of resentment and misunderstanding. When the party descends into riotous mayhem, everyone must choose a side. [Read more…]
