Channing Tatum In Talks To Be Evel Knievel

July 11, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

He’s heating up UK cinemas today with the release of Magic Mike, but Channing Tatum is busy looking to the future, as THR reports that he’s in talks to play Evel Knievel in a new biopic. Tatum will also produce the films with his Iron Horse Entertainment partner Reid Carolin, who will write the screenplay.

Born Robert Craig Knievel, the stuntman became a household name in the 1970s for his nationally televised motorcycle jumps. Ever the showman, Knievel became recognizable for his use of a Stars-and-Stripes getup and the fact he broke 433 bones. He died in 2007 at the age of 69.

Tatum isn’t the first actor to assume the famed thrill-seeker. George Hamilton starred in the 1971 film titled Evel Knievel, while Knievel himself toplined the 1977 film Viva Knievel! The new movie will be based on Stuart Barker’s 2008 book, Life of Evel.

James Woods Circles White House Down

July 10, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We haven’t seen James Woods too much on the big screen lately, but now he has entered into early negotiations for a role in Sony’s White House Down for director Roland Emmerich, according to Variety.

The movie is about a young Secret Service agent (Channing Tatum) who gets put to the ultimate test when a paramilitary group invades the White House and takes everyone hostage. If a deal is finalised, Woods will play the head of the President’s protection detail. But as this is James Woods, what’s the betting he’s secretly a bad guy? Jamie Foxx and Maggie Gyllenhaal also star.

Roland Emmerich is directing from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt, which was acquired by Sony for a whopping $3 million back in March. Shooting is scheduled to begin next month.

Channing Tatum & co. in Magic Mike

Channing Tatum & co. in Magic Mike

Magic Mike hit US cinemas last Friday and is out in the UK on July 11th. As you probably know by now, it’s partially based on Channing Tatum’s real-life experiences as a young stripper. We’ve come across a bit of evidence of this former life, where in the 90s Tatum put on the baggiest trousers in the world, just so he could teasingly take them off again!

Take a look at Tatum’s stripping days above and decide whether he’s sexier now or then. [Read more…]

Magic Mike (Cinema)

Starring: Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello, Olivia Munn, Channing Tatum
Running Time: 110 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: July 11th, 2012

When I first saw the advert I thought, ‘Oh no, it’s Showgirls meets The Full Monty’, however I was perplexed somewhat that Oscar winning director Stephen Soderbegh was at the helm. He’s delivered some brilliant films over the years, including Traffic, Erin Brockovich and Solaris, although his work of recent has not been as impressive, namely Haywire and Contagion.

However, with Magic Mike, he has given us is a crowd pleasing, energetic, realistic behind-the-scenes look at the glamorous but shady lives of the stripping community, in a tight, well scripted gem of a movie. [Read more…]

New Magic Mike Strip Clip – Channing Tatum takes his clothes off

June 20, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The first clip from Magic Mike arrived a few days ago, and now Channing Tatum is taking off his money for cash in another short promo from the movie. Unfortunately it puts the tease in striptease as it’s only the beginning of Tatum’s routine – but that’s presumably the point, as the hope if you’ll go and see the rest when it hits UK cinemas on July 11th. Partly based on Tatum’s experiences as a young male stripper, the film sees him mentoring a newbie (Alex Pettyfer) as well as having romantic problems when his job causes friction in his personal life.

Second Magic Mike Poster – More shirtlessness from Tatum & co.

June 5, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It seems you liked the first Magic Mike poster we put up a few days ago as it’s had many admirers, and even more of you swooned at the It’s Raining Men stripping clip we posted on Saturday. Now a new poster has arrived, with Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Joe Manganiello, Matthew McConaughey and Matt Bomer once more being allergic to shirts!

Magic Mike – It’s Raining Men strip!

June 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Our over-excitement about Magic Mike continues as just a day after we posted the new poster for the movie comes a new clip/trailer, which sees the likes of Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer and Matthew McConaughey stripping to the rather camp tune of It’s Raining Men.

It is great that they’re advertising this to gay men and straight women in the same way they usually market films full of scantily clad women to straight men. Normally with this sort of film they play down the men as sex objects angle, but here they’re going full bore with it!
