New Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them Trailer – A familiar & yet new take on the world of Harry Potter

April 11, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

fantastic-beasts-slideIn case there was anyone who wasn’t aware that the upcoming Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them is a Harry Potter spin-off, this new trailer absolutely underlines the fact, as well as letting us know it’s a brand new story. There’s mention of Albus Dumbledore, muggles and Hogwarts, as well as the iconic Potter musical theme, but also a setting that’s clearly the America of the past.

Those who’ve been missing Potter will certainly find a few things to get excited about.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne (“The Theory of Everything”) stars in the central role of wizarding world magizoologist Newt Scamander, under the direction of David Yates, who helmed the last four “Harry Potter” blockbusters.

‘“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.’

It’ll be in cinemas in November. [Read more…]

The Lobster Trailer – Colin Farrell & Rachel Weisz get involved in an unusual love story

September 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

lobster-slideThe Lobster is the highly anticipated English language debut of internationally acclaimed Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, who thrilled and shocked audiences worldwide with Dogtooth (2009) and Alps (2011), and is set for release across the UK and Ireland on 16th October 2015.

The Lobster is a love story set in the near future, when single people, according to the rules of The City, are arrested and transferred to The Hotel. There they are obliged to find a matching mate in 45 days. If they fail, they are transformed into an animal of their choosing and released into The Woods. A desperate Man escapes from The Hotel to The Woods where The Loners live, and he falls in love, although it is against The Loner’s rules.

Starring Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, Léa Seydoux, John C Reilly, Ben Whishaw, Olivia Colman and Michael Smiley, THE LOBSTER is a blackly funny love story set in a near future where finding love is a matter of life or death. [Read more…]

Colin Farrell Is Impressed With Ewan McGregor’s Humility About His Large Penis

January 28, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ewan-mcgregor-colin-farrellIt turns out that Colin Farrell doesn’t just like Ewan McGregor’s penis, he’s a big fan of the Scottish actor’s whole attitude towards what he has between his legs. Who knows, perhaps Farrell will start a fan club.

Okay, we’re exaggerating, but it’s Colin’s fault as in the latest issue of Nylon Guys he’s quoted as saying, “I don’t think Ewan is as proud of his penis as most men who are as well hung would—or should—or could be. I think that’s the greatest demonstration of his innate humility, that he doesn’t wear it like a badge of honor.”

While some are asking how Farrell know so much about McGregor’s man bits, it’s not like Ewan has exactly kept them hidden in movies ranging from The Pillow Book and Velvet Goldmine to Trainspotting and Young Adam. Colin may also have been been able to catch a glimpse when they worked together on Woody Allen’s Cassandra’s Dream.

And of course many also know what Farrell is packing from the sex tape which circulated a few years ago.

Colin Farrell Calls Out Ireland For The Fact His Gay Brother Had To Go Overseas To Marry

November 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

colin-farrell-eamon-farrellWhile an increasing number of European Countries have given full marriage equality to gay people, there’s no doubt that the change is coming slower in many of the nations where the Catholic Church still exerts a major influence (for example Italy still has no legal recognition of same sex couples at all).

Ireland has made massive steps forward in the last couple of decades (almost incredibly, homosexuality was only decriminalised there in 1993) and for the last couple of years it’s had civil partnerships (although these fall short of offering the same protections married couples gets). Marriage Equality is a very much as live issue in Ireland, and while polls suggest most of the population are in favour of the, the politicians are still nervous about enacting it so they’ve called a referendum on the issue for Spring 2015.

Colin Farrell has stepped up to show his support both for gay marriage and for his brother Eamon in an open letter he wrote for the Sunday World newspaper. Here’s what he had to say:

‘I think I found out my brother wasn’t grovelling in heterosexual mud like most boys our age when I was around 12. I remember feeling surprised. Intrigued. Curious. Not bi-curious before you start getting ideas.

‘I was curious because it was different from anything I’d known or heard of and yet it didn’t seem unnatural to me. I had no reference for the existence of homosexuality. I had seen, by that age, no gay couples together. I just knew my brother liked men and, I repeat, it didn’t seem unnatural to me. My brother Eamon didn’t choose to be gay. Yes, he chose to wear eyeliner to school and that probably wasn’t the most pragmatic response to the daily torture he experienced at the hands of school bullies.

‘But he was always proud of who he was. Proud and defiant and, of course, provocative. Even when others were casting him out with fists and ridicule and the laughter of pure loathsome derision, he maintained an integrity and dignity that flew in the face of the cruelty that befell him.

‘I don’t know where those bullies are now, the ones who beat him regularly. Maybe some of them have found peace and would rather forget their own part of a painful past. Maybe they’re sitting on bar stools and talking about “birds and faggots” and why one’s the cure and the other the disease.

‘But I do know where my brother is. He’s at home in Dublin living in peace and love with his husband of some years, Steven. They are about the healthiest and happiest couple I know. They had to travel a little farther than down the aisle to make their vows, though, to Canada, where their marriage was celebrated.

‘That’s why this is personal to me. The fact that my brother had to leave Ireland to have his dream of being married become real is insane. INSANE.

‘It’s time to right the scales of justice here. To sign up and register to vote next year so that each individual’s voice can be heard

‘How often do we get to make history in our lives? Not just personal history. Familial. Social. Communal. Global. The world will be watching. We will lead by example. Let’s lead toward light.’

Miss Julie Trailer – Jessica Chastain & Colin Farrell have some bad romance

August 9, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

miss-julie-slideThe period drama Miss Julie premieres next month at TIFF. Ahead of that comes our first look at the film with a trailer, which may have French subtitles but still gives us a good taste and suggests we’re going to get a great performance from Jessica Chastain.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Taking place at a large country estate in Britain over the course of one 1880s midsummer night, Miss Julie explores the brutal, flirtatious power struggle between Julie and John – a young aristocratic woman and her father’s valet.

‘She is all hauteur longing for abasement; he, polished but coarse. The two of them held together by mutual loathing and attraction. At turns seductive and tender, savage and bullying, their story builds inevitably to a mad, impulsive tryst. Plans are made in desperation, a vision of a life together – unsure if the morning light then brings hope or hopelessness, Julie and John find their escape in an act that is as sublime and horrific as anything in Greek tragedy.

‘Liv Ullman’s Miss Julie will skillfully weave this great original story of the battle between the sexes and the classes.’ [Read more…]

Cor blimey Mary Poppins! It’s 50 years since the Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke starrer arrived in cinemas, won the Best Picture Oscar and became one of the greatest family classics ever. A New York Winter’s Tale Trailer – Colin Farrell & Russell Crowe blend fantasy & reality

February 1, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While in the US this film will reach cinemas simply a Winter’s Tale on February 14th, for some reason in the UK it’s be A New York Winter’s Tale when it arrives here on February 21st.

Now a lengthy new trailer has arrived for the movie, which stars Colin Farrell, Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly and Downton Abbey‘s Jessica Brown Findlay.

Here’s the rather cryptic synopsis: ‘Set in a mythic New York City and spanning more than a century, “Winter’s Tale” is a story of miracles, crossed destinies, and the age-old battle between good and evil. The film stars Colin Farrell (“Total Recall”), Jessica Brown Findlay (TV’s “Downton Abbey”), and Oscar® winners Jennifer Connelly (“A Beautiful Mind”), William Hurt (“Kiss of the Spider Woman”), Eva Marie Saint (“On the Waterfront”) and Russell Crowe (“Gladiator”). “Winter’s Tale” also introduces young newcomers Ripley Sobo and Mckayla Twiggs (both from Broadway’s “Once”). The film marks the directorial debut of Academy Award-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (“A Beautiful Mind”), who also wrote the screenplay, based on the acclaimed novel by Mark Helprin.’ [Read more…]

Winter’s Tale – Colin Farrell & Russell Crowe blend fantasy & reality

November 8, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Akiva Goldsman has an Oscar for writing A Beautiful Mind and also penned the script for the likes of The Da Vinci Code, I Am Legend and I Robot. Now he’s turned director with Winter’s Tale, which stars Colin Farrell, Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly and Downton Abbey‘s Jessica Brown Findlay.

Epic (Blu-ray)

October 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Amanda Seyfried, Josh Hutcherson, Colin Farrell, Beyonce Knowles, Chris O'Dowd
Director: Chris Wedge
Running Time: 98 mins
Certificate: U
Release Date: October 7th 2013

I have to admit that the trailers for Epic left me cold. The title seemed random, the story silly and the whole thing felt like an attempt to cash in on Avatar for the family audience. Well, there is a little of the eco theme and visual style of Avatar in there, but I have to say how surprised I was by the film, which is far more entertaining than I’d expected (even if it is a bit silly).

In the film the forests are full of two-inch tall creatures, split between the good, peace loving Treemen and their allies, and the evil Boggans, who want to destroy everything and turn the forest into rot. An eccentric human scientist believes in these creatures, but his singular obsession has left him without a wife and estranged from his daughter, M.K. (Amanda Seyfried). [Read more…]

Colin Farrell & Paula Patton May Go To World of Warcraft

September 23, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Colin-FarrellRecent reports have suggested that Duncan Jones wants to start shooting his planned adaptation of World Of Warcraft in January, so he doesn’t have too long to fill out the cast. Now Deadline reports that actress Paula Patton has entered negotiations for a lead role in Legendary Entertainment’s film, with an offer also going out to Colin Farrell for another starring role.

Farrell apparently isn’t sure whether or not he will accept the offer, with sources claiming there is a 50/50 chance he will star. It’s not known who either actor will play.

The World of Warcraft video game debuted on PC formats in 1994, where players from around the world take part in the epic conflict between the Horde and the Alliance. Charles Leavitt (Seventh Son) wrote the screenplay, although there’s been no news about the plot of the movie version,

Sam Raimi (who was previously set to direct) will produce alongside Charles Roven and Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni.
