Ever since the cast for Gangster Squad started coming together – Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Emma Stone – it appeared it could be something special. Now we’ve got the trailer and it suggests the film will be extremely cool. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and – if he has his way – every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. Gangster Squad is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.’
New Amazing Spider-man Trailer – Meet The Lizard
Sony has been promising it all week and now it’s here, the rather groovy brand new international trailer for The Amazing Spider-man, which gives us out best look at the movie yet, including the villainous Lizard. Earlier today the first official in-movie shots of the character were released (taken from the trailer) and you can see those below.
Here’s the latest synopsis: ‘One of the world’s most popular characters is back on the big screen as a new chapter in the Spider-Man legacy is revealed in The Amazing Spider-Man™. Focusing on an untold story that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story, the new film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, with Martin Sheen and Sally Field. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt, based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach are producing the film in association with Marvel Entertainment for Columbia Pictures, which will open in theatres everywhere in 3D.
‘The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.’
Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone May Reteam For Focus
I wondered when watching Crazy Stupid Love whether during the editing of the movie, it had become more about Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone than it had been in the original script, in order to make the most of their chemistry. Now it seems the film’s directors, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, want to continue that chemistry, as they’re trying to get the duo to team up again for their new film, Focus.
Deadline reports that Warner Bros. picked up the directors’ script, which is about a con artist who teaches a new grifter the tricks of the trade, before they become romantically involved. Their paths then cross again in the future, which complicates both their lives.
No offers have been issued to either actor yet, but the hope is they will indeed agree to make the film and they have shown interest.
New The Amazing Spider-man International Trailer
Although early reports suggested Sony wanted a lower budget Spider-man with their Marc Webb directed reboot, the latest round of trailers certainly suggest it won’t be any less spectacular and also injects some of the humour of Spidey that was lacking from Sam Raimi’s film. In the film, Peter Parker finds a clue that might help him understand why his parents disappeared when he was young. His path puts him on a collision course with Dr. Curt Connors, his father’s former partner, who is also the villainous Lizard. The movie’s out July 4th.
The Amazing Spider-man International Trailer
Anticipation for The Amazing Spider-man jumped considerably when a new, rather spectacular trailer was launched a couple of weeks ago. Now a new international version of that trailer has been released, which features some new footage from the big summer movie. Billed as ‘untold stories’ from Spider-man rather than a remake of Sam Raimi’s movies, Andrew Garfield takes over the web-slinging and goes back to high school. It’ll hit cinemas July 3rd.
First Croods Poster Surfaces
During March 2013, Dreamworks Animation will be launching the caveman comedy The Croods on the world. Now the first poster for the movie has arrived, giving us a look at the main characters from the film, who are voiced by the likes of Ryan Reynolds, Nicolas Cage, Catherine Keener, and Emma Stone.
New Amazing Spider-man Trailer Arrives
Director Marc Webb is keen to sell The Amazing Spider-man as ‘untold stories’ about the superhero rather than a remake of the Sam Raimi series, but the more we see, the more it looks like a very different beast to when Tobey Maguire was behind the mask. For a start it’s getting back to the wisecracking Peter Parker rather than the po-faced one of Raimi. Now a new trailer is letting us have our best look yet at the film, introducing us more to the story and action, as well as giving us our first look at the villainous Lizard. It certainly looks like it’s gonna be spectacular! The movie hits cinemas July 3rd.
Emma Stone Wants A Little White Corvette
Emma Stone is one of the few actresses to come along in recent years who looks like she could have a long and illustrious career at the top of the movie game. She’s currently got her pick of projects and it appear she’s settled on one called Little White Corvette, as Deadline reports she’s signed up for the movie.
Michael Diliberti (30 Minutes or Less, Stop Loss) wrote the screenplay, which landed on the 2001 Black List of the best unproduced screenplays. It centres on a nerd and his older sister as they head to Miami to try and sell $1 million worth of cocaine that they found in their late father’s sports car. It is said that Emma Stone has been interested in the project since last summer.
Production is said to begin in late summer, although they’ll need to find a director before then.

First Image From The Gangster Squad
There’s been a huge amount of interest in Hollywood in Gangster Squad ever since the script first started doing the rounds. It had a few problems securing a director, but then Ruben Fleishcher came onboard and a great cast was secured including Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Anthony Mackie, Nick Nolte, Michael Pena, and Giovanni Ribisi.
Now the first image from the movie has arrived via EW. Here’s what Fleischer had to say about the movie, “We’ve taken some creative license but tried to stay true to the original story and characters as much as possible. O’Mara (Josh Brolin), our lead character, has just come back from fighting the Nazis with all these ideals after seeing America at its greatest. And he’s come home and there’s a gangster running his city. While he was gone, Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) took over and he turned the streets of L.A. into a battle zone. In our story, O’ Mara takes the lead of the Gangster Squad, a vigilante police force that fights the gangsters on their own terms, and the battle between them is for the future of Los Angeles: whether it’s going to become corrupt and run by this bunch of gangsters or these guys who fought for these values and want L.A. to be the shining beacon on the west coast that it was always intended to be.
“Ryan’s character also went to war, but when he came back, he was a little disillusioned. So he’s more on the fence, hanging out in nightclubs and hanging out with guys who might be gangsters. He’s less clear on where he stands in terms of standing up against Mickey Cohen.”
