All Good Things (DVD)

February 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Kirsten Dunst, Frank Langella, Philip Baker Hall, Lily Rabe, Ryan Gosling
Director: Andrew Jarecki
Running Time: 100 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: February 18th 2013

We’ve had to wait a while for All Good Things. Shot in 2008 it was slated for US release in 2009, but various issues with the distribution meant it didn’t actually hit American cinemas until late 2010 (and even then it only got a small release). It’s take another two full years for it to arrive in the UK, despite the presence of Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst.

Based on a true story, Gosling plays David Marks, who in the early 1980s is the heir to a mega-rich empire. However he massively dislikes his father (Frank Langella) and would prefer to have little to do with the family business. He meets and marries the lower-middle class Katie (Kirsten Dunst), fleeing the city to a place in rural Vermont. However they’re lured back to New York by David’s father. [Read more…]

New Pics Of Ryan Gosling & Bradley Cooper In The Place Beyond The Pines

February 2, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Place-Beyond-the-Pines-pic3A slew of new images have arrived from Place Beyond The Pines, the movie that reunites Ryan Gosling with Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance. The film had a critically-acclaimed debut at the Toronto Film Festival and will reach the US in March, and should be released in the UK on April 12th.

The movie tells the story of Luke (Gosling), a professional motorcycle rider who turns to bank robberies to support his newborn son. However, when he crosses paths with a rookie police officer (Bradley Cooper), their violent confrontation spirals into a tense generational feud. Rose Byrne, Eva Mendes, Ray Liotta and Dane DeHaan also star.

Only God Forgives Teaser Clip – Ryan Gosling gets punched in the face

January 7, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Drive got a lot of fans thanks to its andrenaline packed mix of tension and violence, so many will be glad to hear Ryan Gosling has reunited with director Nicolas Winding Refn for Only God Forgives. Most of what we’ve seen on the film so far have been images of Ryan Gosling with a pummelled face, and now a brief teaser has shown up online, which gives us a look at how Gosling gets batters and bruised.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Julian (Gosling) lives in exile in Bangkok where he runs a Thai boxing club as a front for the family’s drugs smuggling operation. When Julian’s brother Billy is killed their mother, Jenna (Scott Thomas), arrives in the city. She wants revenge and forces Julian to find the killer. Julian’s contacts in the criminal underworld lead him directly to The Angel of Vengeance, a retired police officer who knows everything and who is both Judge and Punisher. Jenna demands that Julian kill The Angel of Vengeance, an act that will cost him dearly.’

It looks likely the movie will premiere at Cannes, and hopefully a release will come shortly afterwards.

The Place Beyond The Pines Trailer – Ryan Gosling turns to crime to raise his kid

December 22, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Place Beyond The Pine reunites Ryan Gosling with Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance, to tell the tale of Luke (Gosling), a professional motorcycle rider who turns to bank robberies to support his newborn son. However, when he crosses paths with a rookie police officer (Bradley Cooper), their violent confrontation spirals into a tense generational feud. Rose Byrne, Eva Mendes, Ray Liotta and Dane DeHaan also star.

Now the trailer for the movie has arrived, which to be honest make the film look more like Drive than Blue Valentine, taking a genre pic in an unusual direction. The movie premiered recently at the Toronto International Film Festival to good although not rapturous reviews.

It arrives in the UK on April 12th. Take a look at the trailer below [Read more…]

See A 12-Year-Old Ryan Gosling Getting Excited About Being A Mouseketeer

November 20, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Now that he’s one of the prettiest and coolest people on the planet, it seem rather strange to remember that once upon a time in the early 90s, Ryan Gosling was a Mouseketeer on The Mickey Mouse Club, singing and prancing around alongside the likes of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.

We came across the video above, which sees Gosling as a 12-year-old, shortly after he scored the role. He talks to Canadian TV all about how he got the part of what he’s going to be doing on The MMC. Aw, isn’t he sweet – although it is slightly perturbing that he’s barely changed in the past 20 years, he’s just a lot taller now (although judging from the bagginess of his clothes in the bottom clip, he probably wears the same sizes as he did back then).

And if the video above isn’t enough mini Gosling for you, we’ve included a couple of vids of him in The Mickey Mouse Club below. However you should be warned – watching their cheesiness may make you lose some respect for him, even if he was only a nipper when he made the series.

The real question is when is he going to make a musical so we can see what he’s like as a singer now?

Ryan Gosling’s Face Gets Bashed In (But Luckily Only In A Promo Image)

November 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Beating Ryan Gosling’s pretty face to a pulp would essentially be an act of blasphemy, but he’s not looking too pretty in this promo image from Only God Forgives. It suggests that after the blood-soaked Drive, Gosling and director Nicolas Winding Refn aren’t going for sugar plums and fairies in their latest collaboration.

The film stars Gosling and Kristin Scott Thomas, with word coming through that it’s likely to be finished by December, ready for release at some point next year.

I’m not sure how Gosling does it, but he’s one of the few people who can make being bloodied and half-blinded look sexy. If it’s half as good as Drive we’re in for a treat.

Five Gangster Squad Character Posters Emerge

October 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

With a new poster and trailer out this week, the hype campaign for Gangster Squad has continued with the release of five characters posters for the movie, which you can see above and below. We have a suspicion they may have been hanging around for a while, as they still have the old September release date on them, before it was shifted back to January, so they could film a new ending that wouldn’t remind people of the Dark Knight Rises shootings in Colorado. They’re new to use though, and pretty cool, so enjoy!

And if you want to know more about the film, check out the latest trailer here.

New Gangster Squad Trailer – Ryan Gosling and co. take on the mobsters

October 12, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The release of Gangster Squad was thrown into disarray after the Aurora Dark Knight Rises shootings, as one of the main scenes towards the end saw gangsters opening fire in a cinema. The result was the release got pushed back to January and major reshoots were needed to add a new ending. Now the promotion of the movie is gearing up again, with a new poster and a great new trailer. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and – if he has his way – every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. Gangster Squad is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.’ The movie hits cinemas January 11th.

Ryan Gosling Turns Director For How to Catch a Monster

August 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Ryan Gosling isn’t content with being a respected actor and generally thought to be the sexiest man around, he now wants to turns writer and director with How to Catch a Monster, and he’s set Driver co-star Christina Hendricks to play the lead role. Shooting is scheduled to begins next spring.

How to Catch a Monster weaves elements of fantasy noir, and suspense into a modern day fairytale. Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, Billy, a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive. It all sounds a bit weird, but hopefully Gosling’s script will make sense when we see the movie.

The movie is looking for buyers at the Toronto International Film Festival. Indeed Gosling will be busy at TIFF as he also stars alongside Bradley Cooper and Eva Mendes in Derek Cianfrance’s The Place Beyond the Pines, which will premiere at the upcoming festival. (Source: Deadline)
