The First Han Solo Star Wars Story Cast Photo Arrives As Principal Photography Begins

In case anyone was wondering whether Alden Ehrenreich has the right look to be Han Solo, the first cast photo has arrived, which actually shows him to be a better ringer for a young Harrison Ford than you might expect. The pic has arrived to mark the start on principal photography on the currently untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story on February 20th at Pinewood Studios.

According to the press release, ‘The movie will explore the duo¹s adventures before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are directors co-piloting the movie, with a cast that includes Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Thandie Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, with Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca.

“Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous,” Lord and Miller said. “We can’t think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.”‘

The untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story is set for release in May, 2018.

Woody Harrelson Circling Han Solo Spin-off Movie

The planned Han Solo spin-off film is really coming together with Alden Ehrenreich as the younger version of the character made famous by Harrison Ford, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, and Emilia Clarke as the female lead (the character’s name is yet to be released). Now another name may be close to signing, as Variety says that Woody Harrelson is in early talks for the movie.

If he does end up in the movie, he will play a character described as a mentor to the young Han. As Harrelson has made a career out of playing laid back dudes, and more recently unlikely mentors in the likes of The Hunger Games and The Edge Of Seventeen, he seems a good choice to play someone who helped make Han Solo the man he was across four wildly popular movies.

Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street helmers Phil Lord and Chris Miller are set to direct the movie. It’ll be in cinemas May 2018.

War For The Planet Of The Apes Trailer – Caesar goes into battle for survival

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes surprised many when it turned out to be a pretty good origin story. Then the franchise really upped the game with the excellent Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. That means the next instalment, War Of The Planet Of The Apes, has a lot to live up to.

Now we can get our first taste with a trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn and Toby Kebbell and is directed by Matt Reeves.

‘In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. 2013’s Now You See Me proved a far bigger hit than most people expected, which has ensured we’ve now got a follow-up. After their Robin Hood exploits in the first movie, illusionists The Horsemen have been in hiding, waiting for ‘The Eye’ to tell them what they should do next. They also have a new member, with Lizzy Caplan’s Lula joining Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Jack (Dave Franco) and Merritt (Woody Harrelson), along with their leader, FBI Agent Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo).

They get an assignment to take down someone who’s destroying personal privacy, but their comeback goes wrong when they’re hacked, kidnapped and taken to Macau, China. There they meet Walter Mabry (Daniel Radcliffe), who tells them that it was largely his money they stole in the first movie, and that they now have to do his bidding if they want to live. After the surprise success of Now You See Me, it didn’t take long for them to put a sequel into development. It has taken a little longer to arrive that originally planned, but now it’s on its way and the main trailer has arrived.

Now You See Me 2 Teaser Trailer – Daniel Radcliffe tries a different kind of magic

Oh the hilarity, Daniel Radcliffe is rubbish at magic! Let’s not hope that’s the whole joke with Now You See Me 2 (I presume it’s not), but this teaser trailer seems to love the idea of it.

Here’s the sequel’s synopsis: ‘THE FOUR HORSEMEN [Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Lizzy Caplan] return for a second mind-bending adventure, elevating the limits of stage illusion to new heights and taking them around the globe.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘When a crew of dirty cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist, they realise the only way to pull it off is to manufacture a 999, police code for “officer down”. The chaos that ensues when a police officer is shot in the line of duty is just the diversion they’ll need to do the job, but whether they have the will to kill one of their own is an entirely different matter, triggering a breakneck, action packed finale tangled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.’

Woody Harrelson Joins War of the Planet of the Apes

Before they came out, many thought the idea of rebooting the Planet Of The Apes franchise with a series of prequels was a bad idea. However both Rise and Dawn turned out to be great films and big successes at the box office.

Now a third is on its way, in the form of War Of The Planet Of The Apes, which has just recruited Woody Harrelson to be its human villain, according to THR.

Not a huge amount is known about the plot, although it is known that Matt Reeves will return to direct, Andy Serkis will once more be ape leader Caesar, and Gabriel Chavarria will be one of two human leads.

Of the new film, Reeves has previously said, “As this story continues, we know that war is not avoided by the end of DAWN. That is going to take us into the world of what he is grappling with. Where he is going to be thrust into circumstances that he never, ever wanted to deal with, and was hoping he could avoid. And now he is right in the middle of it. The things that happen in that story test him in huge ways, in the ways in which his relationship with Koba haunts him deeply. It’s going to be an epic story. I think you’ve probably read that I sort of described it where in the first film was very much about his rise from humble beginnings to being a revolutionary. The second movie was about having to rise to the challenge of being a great leader in the most difficult of times. This is going to be the story that is going to cement his status as a seminal figure in ape history, and sort of leads to an almost biblical status. He is going to become like a mythic ape figure, like Moses.”

It’s due out July 2017.

Final The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 Trailer – Back into the world of Katniss and the Capitol

In less than a month The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is due to hit cinemas and there’s little doubt it’ll be a big hit. However as it marks a change for the franchise, so Lionsgate are keen to ensure fans are kept excited.

Now the final trailer has arrived, which may be fairly short but does a great job of setting up the drama and suggesting that now the whole of Panem is the arena.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The worldwide phenomenon of The Hunger Games continues to set the world on fire with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, which finds Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in District 13 after she literally shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin (Julianne Moore) and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and a nation moved by her courage. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Danny Strong and Peter Craig and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the third in a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins that has over 65 million copies in print in the U.S. alone.’

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is due out in the UK on November 20th, 2014, with the final film (until an inevitable further sequel or spin-off is announced), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, out the same time the following year. [Read more…]
