Russell Crowe Is Looking Gruff In A New Noah Poster

January 29, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Noah-poster2Noah is certainly one of the most intriguing films of the early part of 2014, with Darren Aronofsky directing his take on the Biblical story of the flood, complete with tweaked animals, unusual angels and plenty more.

Now a new poster for the movie has been released.

The film follows Noah (Russell Crowe), who lives on a vast plain of volcanic ash in the lee of a volcanic glacier (the movie was largely shot in Iceland) and has to trek up a mountain every day to get to work. He is told by God to build an enormous vessel to house both his family and the animals of the world to preserve them from a flood that promises to wipe out a sin-filled world.

It’s currently due for release on March 28th, 2014.

Nick Nolte Is A Late Addition To Darren Aronofsky’s Noah

January 14, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

nick-nolteYou’d think that with only two and a half months until the release, it would be a little late for Darren Aronofsky to be adding new actors to Noah. However he’s tweeted, ‘just added the legend nick nolte as the watcher samyaza in #noah . long live the nephilim! it was an honor.’

The reason he can come in so late is that Samyaza will be a largely CGI creation, so Nolte will presumably be providing the voice.

The ‘nephilim’ are mentioned in The Bible in Genesis 6:4 where they are described as “sons of God” and “daughters of men.” This has led some to say that they were the offspring of angels/demons and people, although Aronofky’s film takes the other interpretation of them, with Samyaza the leader of the Grigori, a.k.a. Watchers, angels who fell from grace after they were consumed by lust for mortal women.

The film will apparently also follow the legend that the nephilim are giants, and it’s believed Samyaza will have six arms. The nephilim/grigori are an interesting part of Jewish/Christian mysticism that has a long, rich history, but is rarely mentioned today. Mark Margolis was previously linked to the role, although it may be he did the motion capture while Nolte will be the voice. The film is out in March.

Noah International Trailer – Fresh look at the Russell Crowe, Douglas Booth & Logan Lerman film

December 2, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A couple of weeks ago we had the first trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah, now a new international one has arrived, showing off some fresh footage from the big biblical, and rather unusual looking movie.

Here’s the brief official synopsis: ‘Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe stars as Noah, a man chosen by God for a great task before an apocalyptic flood destroys the world.’

Emma Watson, Jennifer Connolly, Ray Winstone and Anthony Hopkins co-star. And who knew Noah had such hot sons, with Logan Lerman and Douglas Booth as Shem and Ham. Darren Aronofsky’s film is due out March 28th 2014. [Read more…]

Noah Trailer – Russell Crowe, Douglas Booth & Logan Lerman are gonna need a bigger boat

November 14, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Yesterday we had the first poster for Noah, and now it’s time for the trailer, which starts off looking a bit weird, before it gets a whole lot more epic with giant boats, loads of CGI animals and a massive, is slightly backwards flood (where the water comes up from the ground rather than falling from the sky).

Here’s the brief official synopsis: ‘Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe stars as Noah, a man chosen by God for a great task before an apocalyptic flood destroys the world.’

Russell Crowe Watches The World Flood In The First Poster For Darren Aronofsky’s Noah

November 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Noah-poster1The first trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah is expected in the next day or so, but ahead of that comes the poster, which suggests the world is not going to do very well in the movie. But then, a Noah movie without a devastating kill-everybody-in-the-world flood wouldn’t be much of a Noah movie.

The film follows Noah (Russell Crowe), who lives on a vast plain of volcanic ash in the lee of a volcanic glacier (the movie’s being shot in Iceland) and has to trek up a mountain every day to get to work. He is told by God to build an enormous vessel to house both his family and the animals of the world to preserve them from a flood that promises to wipe out a sin-filled world.

Although the plot remains the same, Aronofsky has promised a unique vision, which we’ll hopefully get a look at in the trailer, including the fact Noah’s animals will be tweaked versions that aren’t immediately recognisable. It’s currently due for release on March 28th, 2014.

New Pics From Darren Aronofsky’s Noah Suggest A Different Type Of Biblical Epic

August 20, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

noah-pic4
It would have been a surprise if Darren Aronofsky made a biblical epic and it turned out to be generic Hollywood action. And if these new pics are any indication, this will be a rather different type of movie, taking the story of Noah and giving it a more naturalistic feel than most Biblical movies (if we ignore that the film thinks everyone living in the Middle East thousands of years ago was white).

It’s currently due for release on March 28th, 2014.

While the film hasn’t had much mainstream marketing yet, Paramount is already courting faith organisations in the US, hoping they will turn out in droves for the movie. It’s currently due for release on March 28th, 2014.

Darren Aronofsky May Take On Spy Drama Red Sparrow

August 14, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Darren-AronofskyDirector Darren Aronofsky is still putting the final touches on his biblical epic Noah, but he’s already looking towards his next project, as Deadline reports that he is circling Red Sparrow for 20th Century Fox.

He’s in early talks to develop and direct the adaptation of Jason Matthews’ novel, which is set in modern-day Russia. The story follows Dominika Egorova, a spy forced into becoming a ‘sparrow’, who is trained to seduce rival agents. Her first assignment is a CIA operative tasked with handling Russian intelligence, but they soon fall for one another, threatening both their careers and the identities of moles in both the American and Russian governments.

20th Century Fox bought the rights back in April, winning a bidding war that involved multiple studios. There’s no news on when it might shoot.

Noah Image Gives Us Our First Look Inside The Ark

September 26, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Darren Aronofsky has been busy shooting his long-gestating biblical epic Noah for the past few weeks, and he’s even built much of the exterior of an ark to help to the story. However we haven’t had any idea what things might look like inside the giant boat. Now Director of Photography Matthew Libatique has tweeted a concept image giving us a glimpse into the ark, and shows that with limited space and a whole world of animals to save, things like snakes are just going to have to go into piles.

Noah stars Russell Crowe as the title character, with Jennifer Connelly, Saoirse Ronan, Douglas Booth, Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, Kevin Durand and Mark Margolis also set to star. The film is currently set for release on March 28th, 2014

XOXO Gets Adjustment Bureau Director George Nolfi

August 28, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

George Nolfi turned out to be a pretty proficient director with The Adjustment Bureau, and now he’s lining up a new project, as Variety reports he has signed on to direct XOXO, Lionsgate’s social networking cyber thriller.

News of the project first emerged last October, when the studio acquired the spec screenplay from Mark Heyman (Black Swan), which Darren Aronofsky has been overseeing. The story is about a man engaged to be married, who also enjoys a little online flirting on the side. He strikes up a virtual romance with a woman he meets on Facebook, although he begins to realise that this cyber romance is affecting his real life, in dangerous ways. The project is being described as “Fatal Attraction for the digital age.”

Aronofsky will produce, although it isn’t known when production will begin.

First Pic Of Russell Crowe In Noah Revealed

August 12, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The first image from Darren Arnofsky’s Noah has been revealed over at USA Today. As you can see above, it’s not particularly revelatory, although does suggest Russell Crowe’s Noah isn’t going to be the serene Biblical patriarch he’s often painted as.

The film follows Noah, who lives on a vast plain of volcanic ash in the lee of a volcanic glacier (the movie’s being shot in Iceland) and has to trek up a mountain every day to get to work. He is told by God to build an enormous vessel to house both his family and the animals of the world to preserve them from a flood that promises to wipe out a sin-filled world. It’s currently due for released on March 28th, 2014.
