Just a few days ago director James Mangold revealed that after 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse, they’re already working on another standalone Wolverine movie. Since then Fox has moved fast to fill in the blanks, announcing that it’ll be in cinemas March 3rd, 2017 and Deadline adds that the studio has hired screenwriter David James Kelly to write the script.
What wasn’t clear when Mangold first mentioned Wolverine 3 was whether Hugh Jackman would be returning for this new movie. The actor has suggested several times that he planned to step away from his mutant character (at least for a while) following this year’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past – which marks the seventh film he’s played the role in (and it’s not known if he’ll also be in Apocalypse).
However Deadline claims that Jackman will be back, although it’s not clear if this is just a strong possibility or whether a contract is actually in the works.
