Over the weekend a superb new trailer for Prometheus debuted, and while it’s difficult not to feel Fox is slightly going for overkill on its marketing for the movie, they’ve also released a slightly extended UK version of the trailer featuring quite a lot of different footage. It all looks great, and if nothing else it proves that visually nobody does sci-fi like Ridley Scott. The film sees people heading off into the stars looking for the origins of mankind that have been hinted at in civilisations across the ages, but getting more than they bargained for. The sort-of Alien prequel is out June 1st.
Prometheus Trailer – It’s looking epic!
After an almost farcical amount of hype, the full trailer for Prometheus has arrived, and it’s epic! While Ridley Scott has been keen to say it’s not an Alien movie, the trailer makes it clear that this is a full-on prequel to the famed series, even if it doesn’t feature the creatures themselves. It also gives us a better hint at the plot, with clues in ancient Earth civilisations hinting at the existence of an alien species the spaceship Prometheus sets off to find, only to discover things are more dangerous than they expected. Take a look at the trailer below and prepare to be impressed! We’ve also includes a new viral below, about growing your own Michael Fassbender!
Awesome New Prometheus Image Online
As part of the viral campaign for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, a Twitter user going under the handle @MOVIELORD1 managed to decode a new image from the just launched website www.weylandindustries.com. It’s a rather awesome, ethereal pic, and you can get a better look by clicking on the pic above and expanding it.
And if you look right in the centre of the vision of the cosmos, you can see a figure standing there. But who is it?
Fox has also just promised that a new trailer, along with a Ridley Scott Q&A, will arrive on March 17th, which is certainly something to look forward to. The film’s out June 1st, and just to remind you, here’s the enigmatic synopsis for the movie that will be shot through with Alien DNA: ‘Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.’
Prometheus Viral – Peter Weyland Tells Us The Future
Ridley Scott has been incredibly tight-lipped about Prometheus, revealing as little about the movie a humanly possible. A couple of days ago he did say the only link to Alien was Peter Weyland, creator of the cybernetic beings that would eventually lead to Ash and Bishop, even though the trailers we’ve had have shown there are far more links to Alien than that.
Now a viral has shown up online, which features Guy Pearce as Peter Weyland, giving a very interesting talk. He gives us our first proper clues as to why the film is called Prometheus and suggests that the idea of technology making man be like a god will be at the heart of the movie. Does it mean that by the end of the film, it will be people who’ve created the aliens? We’ll have to wait and see when the film is released on June 1st, but for now watch the viral and start to speculate!
Prometheus International Trailer
The first trailer for Prometheus really played on it links to Alien (even if it’s still not clear exactly how the movie is linked to Alien, as all Ridley Scott will say is that it has ‘Alien DNA’), but this new teaser suggests it’ll be a movie on a somewhat grander scale than the claustrophobic sci-fi horror. It looks all kinds of cool, with grand vistas and a look like both feels like Alien, but which is also its own creation. The movie arrives in UK cinemas on June 1st.
Prometheus Plot Spoilers Revealed By Actress Kate Dickie?
Ridley Scott has done a great job of keeping everything about Prometheus secret. The film has mainly played on whether it’s a prequel to Alien or not, with Scott saying it has Alien DNA, and the teaser trailer mirroring Ridley Scott’s 1970s horror. What we haven’t known is much about the plot, with the synopsis deliberately fudging things.
Now Game Of Thrones actress Kate Dickie may have let things slip (although nothing’s been confirmed so feel free to take it with a pinch of salt until something firmer arrives), so if you want to keep the surpise, stop reading now! SPOILERS from now on: In an interview with Scottish paper The Star (via AlienPrequelNews) Dickie said she plays Mudow, a crew member of the spaceship Prometheus responsible for waking the others out of their cryogenic sleep at the beginning of the movie, a scene pulled directly from both Alien and Aliens.
Soon after the crew wakes up, they “meet a terrifying host of vicious, skeletal alien monstrosities which chase the crew through the halls of their spaceship.” Dickie apparently only makes it through 28 minutes of the film before being “eaten” by one of these monsters, presumed to be the Space Jockeys. Mudow is set to serve as a fitness trainer, who gets the Prometheus crew in shape after so many months of cryo-sleep. “With their muscles wasted from five years without use, she helps them to get fit – only for them to fall victims to horrible creatures that begin stalking them for food.”
If all this is true, it’s almost disappointing, as you’d have hoped the space jockeys would be something more interesting than Predator-like killers, but perhaps there’s more to it than revealed here. Prometheus is out in June.
Prometheus Trailer – Get excited about Ridley’s return to sci-fi
After 20th Century Fox spent the last few days bigging up the release of a trailer for Prometheus (by releasing trailers for the trailer), they needed to deliver something worthwhile. Now that trailer is here and while it’s only a minute long it’s difficult not to get excited. Although in interviews Ridley has tried to distance the movie from Alien, suggesting it’s not a prequel in the way you’d normally think (there’ll be no xenomorph, for example), this trailer puts it smack bang in the same world, with a nod to Alien in both the production design and the way the title is revealed. It’s undoubtedly very cool and sets Prometheus up as one of the must watch flicks of 2012. Let’s just cross out finger Ridley can pull it off. Prometheus hits cinemas June 1st, 2012.
Prometheus Trailer Preview – Get a taste of the alien DNA
The trailer for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is due to hit on Thursday, but today on Apple trailers a 30 second preview has dropped has dropped, so you can get a miniature taste of Ridley’s return to sci-fi. The director has also been talking to Filmophilia about the movie, and has cleared up whether we’d see the infamous xenomorph in this movie, which we’ve been promised will be shot through with Alien DNA (many had assumed the HR Giger creatures would pop up right at the end). However Ridley says, “No. Absolutely not. They squeezed it dry. He (the xenomorph) did very well. (He laughs) He survived, he’s now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!”
He adds, “There’s a quote I did, a pretty good quote: By the end of the third act you start to realize there’s a DNA of the very first Alien, but none of the subsequent aliens. To tell you what that is is a pity, and I’m not going to tell you, because it’s actually pretty good, pretty organic to the process and to the original. But we go back, we don’t go forward.”
Take a look below for our first taste of this very exciting sci-fi-flick. Prometheus is due for release on June 1st, 2012.
First Poster For Prometheus
What is it with Prometheus and giant heads? The first images featured a creepy big head and now it’s in the poster too, suggesting it’s got some sort of major part to play. As the plot revolves around the search for humanity’s beginnings, finding a hugh human head on an alien spaceship would be a good hint people weren’t 100% from Earth. With the film a semi-prequel to alien, that leads to a terrifying battle to save the human race.
Ridley Scott directs with Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Guy Pearce, and Patrick Wilson starring. It hits cinemas in June.

New Prometheus Photos Revealed
We’ve still got over six months to wait until Ridley Scott’s sort-of Alien prequel, Prometheus, hits screens on June 1st, but EW has jumped in early by scoring some of the first images from the movie for their print edition. Luckily though the likes of Bloody Disgusting have scanned those pics and now we can take a look for ourselves.
Everything looks a bit glossier than it did in Alien, suggesting Ridley’s going for a different style this time around, although as the shot of the carved head shows, he’s keeping with some of the production design of the actual alien vessels.
Here’s the rather low-on-info synopsis: ‘Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.’ The film stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Guy Pearce, and Patrick Wilson.’
Rumours suggest the first trailer will also arrive fairly soon.
