New Fantastic Four Trailer – A far better look at the superhero reboot

April 19, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

fantastic-four-trailer20th Century Fox had a fairly late start marketing their reboot of Fantastic Four and when the first trailer arrived, it didn’t show us much. However now a new one has arrived and it gives us a much better look at the movie, including a proper look at The Thing, Doctor Doom and the heroes various powers.

It suggests a far less jokey take than the movies from a few years ago, but one that’s still fun.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.’

The movie is due out in August. [Read more…]

Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice Trailer – The Caped Crusader doesn’t care how hot Henry Cavill looks

April 18, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

batman-v-superman-trailer1Now here’s an interesting one. Coming a few days early due to a bootleg showing up online, the official teaser trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has now arrived, and it shows that the ‘v’ in Batman v Superman isn’t just for show, as the Caped Crusader doesn’t seem very happy with the Man Of Steel.

Indeed, a lot of people don’t like Superman, who is seen as a Messianic saviour by some, but as a False God by a lot more. It’s certainly an interesting set-up and suggests there’s going to be plenty of social metaphor in the movie.

You can take a look at the trailer below, complete with glowing eyed Ben Affleck Batman and Henry Cavil looking hotter than any man has a right to. The film is due out March 25, 2016. [Read more…]

Jared Leto Shows Off The Green Hair & Red Lips Of His Take On The Joker

April 17, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jared-Leto-JokerWith Suicide Squad going into production imminently, Jared Leto has decided to give us a little peek at how his take on The Joker will look with a pic which has been posted online by director David Ayer and which you can see above.

At a first glance it’s a far more classic take on the character than Heath Ledger’s Dark Knight Joker, although it’ll be interesting to see how he actually plays the role. It also doesn’t seem to be his complete look, which we’ll still have to wait to see.

As well as Leto, Suicide Squad stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. It’ll b in cinemas August 5th, 2016.

The Gallows Teaser Trailer – This year’s Paranormal Activity?

April 17, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

the-gallows-slideOver the last few years Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Productions company have had huge success turning low budget horror films into major successes with the likes of Insidious, Paranormal Activity, and Sinister.

This year he’s got a new one which is hoping to go from micro-budget to box office hit, The Gallows.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Twenty years after an accident caused the death of the lead actor during a high school play, students at the same small town school resurrect the failed stage production in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy — but ultimately find out that some things are better left alone.’

The teaser itself doesn’t show us much, but it does look creepy. Take a look below. [Read more…]

Ryan Gosling May Star Alongside Harrison Ford In Blade Runner Sequel

April 17, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ryan-goslingRyan Gosling is certainly back from the acting break he decided to go on last year, as he’s busy filling his slate. Just in the last few days it’s been revealed he’s likely to star in Guillermo Del Toro’s Haunted Mansion and the musical La La Land.

Now he may have another and it’s a biggie, as Variety reports that he’s in talks to star alongside Harrison Ford in the planned sequel to Blade Runner.

With the people behind the movie keeping details close to their chest, there’s no info on who Gosling will play. Indeed at this stage the only things we know are that it will be set some time after Blade Runner and Ford will be back as Rick Deckard.

Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve will help the film, with Ridley Scott still on board to produce and consult on the film. It’s still no clear when it will shoot.

Steve Carell To Star In Robert Zemeckis’ Marwencol

April 17, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

steve-carellAfter a few flops and disappointments it looked like Steve Carell’s movie career was on the ropes, but thanks to Foxcatcher and the Oscar nomination he got for it, he’s back on top, and now TheWrap reports he’s close to a deal to star in Marwencol for director Robert Zemeckis.

When the movie was first announced Leo DiCaprio was being sought to star, but now they’re going in a slightly different direction with Carell taking on the lead role.

The movie will be based on the life of Mark Hogancamp, who became the subject of a documentary by Jeff Malmberg’s in 2010 on which Zemeckis’ film will be based. The doc followed Hogancamp’s long road to recovery after he was severely beaten by five teenagers, causing him to slip into a coma for nine days. When he came out around, he had no memory of his life or friends and family.

To help his recovery, he began constructing a one-sixth scale model of a World War II-era Belgian village in his backyard, called Marwencol, with figures that resembled his friends, family members and even his attackers, which allowed him both to heal his memory and escape into his own fantasy scenarios.

Patty Jenkins Replaces Michelle McLaren As Wonder Woman Director

April 17, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

batman-vs-superman-wonder-woman-slideA couple of days ago Michelle MacLaren backed out of directing Wonder Woman and it looked like once more the quest to have a major superhero movie directed by a woman would fail. However Warner/DC have moved quickly to replace her with Monster helmer Patty Jenkins, according to THR.

It’s not Jenkins first involvement with superheroes as at one point she was set to direct Thor: The Dark World, but left after a disagreement over the direction of the movie. However now it looks like she may enter the comic book realm after all.

Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman, and we’ll first get to see her in next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The standalone Wonder Woman movie will arrive June 23rd, 2017 and is expected to shoot later this year (hence why Warner wanted to replace MacLaren so quickly).

Jenkins may end up not being the only female director in the superhero universe, as rumours suggest Angelina Jolie is being considered for Marvel’s Captain Marvel.

New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer – Hans Solo and Luke Skywalker are back

April 16, 2015 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

star-wars-the-force-awakens-trailer2The first teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens very deliberately avoiding showing us any of the classic Star Wars characters, despite the fact he knew the likes of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher would be returning.

However for the new trailer they’ve realised that while it’s nice to see some new characters, fans also want to know things haven’t changed that much, whether it’s the look of the film doing a great job of aping previous instalments, Luke Skywalker’s voice and arm, or the big reveal at the end with Han Solo and Chewbacca.

The new trailer was launched new at today’s The Force Awakens panel at Star Wars Celebration – the Ultimate Star Wars fan experience. Fans in the U.K who were unable to attend Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California attended a live local London event hosted by Star Wars star Warwick Davis at the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square.

Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Adam Rodriguez Gets His Shirtless Magic Mike XXL Character Banner

April 15, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

magic-mike-xxl-adam-rodriguez-character-bannerA couple of days ago Channing Tatum got his dance on in a Magic Mike character banner. Now it seems that was the first of many as today it’s Adam Rodriguez’s turn to show that he’s going back into the world of strippers, as he’s got his own poster too, which you can see above.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“Magic Mike” stars Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias are reuniting for the hotly anticipated sequel “Magic Mike XXL”. Joining the returning cast, in brand new roles, will be Elizabeth Banks (“The Hunger Games” franchise), Donald Glover (“Community”), Amber Heard (“The Rum Diary”), Andie MacDowell (“Footloose”), Jada Pinkett Smith (“Gotham”) and Michael Strahan (“Live with Kelly and Michael”).

‘The new film will be directed and produced by Emmy Award winner Gregory Jacobs (“Behind the Candelabra”), who served as a producer on “Magic Mike,” as well as numerous features in a long-running collaboration with Steven Soderbergh. “Magic Mike XXL” also reunites “Magic Mike” producers Nick Wechsler, Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin, with a screenplay by Carolin. Steven Soderbergh, who directed the first film, will executive produce.

‘Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, “Magic Mike XXL” finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.’

Magic Mike XXL is due out July 3rd.

Suffragette Teaser Trailer – Carey Mulligan & Meryl Streep want women to vote

April 15, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

suffragette-pic1With the UK going to the polls for a General Election on May 7th, Pathe Pictures has decided it’s the perfect time to release a teaser for the movie Suffragette. It’s been put out in support of the #votingmatters campaign, which highlights things such as the fact that more than 9 million women failed to vote in the 2010 election, and so there is a major campaign to get women to register to vote before the deadline on 20 April.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The film stars Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, Brendan Gleeson, Anne-Marie Duff, Ben Whishaw and Meryl Streep. The film is directed by Sarah Gavron, who reteams with her Brick Lane screenwriter Abi Morgan (The Iron Lady), and is produced by Faye Ward and Alison Owen (Saving Mr Banks).

‘SUFFRAGETTE is an intense drama that tracks the story of the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement as they fought for the right to vote, women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State. These women were not primarily from the genteel educated classes, they were working women who had seen peaceful protest achieve nothing. Radicalised and turning to violence as the only route to change, they were willing to lose everything in their fight for equality – their jobs, their homes, their children and their lives. The character of Maud, played by Carey Mulligan, is one such foot soldier. The story of her fight for dignity is both heart-breaking and inspirational.’

The movie hits British cinemas on October 30th. [Read more…]
