Fresh Seventh Son Trailer – Will we ever actually see the Jeff Bridges fantasy?

November 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

seventh-son-slideThey’re certainly keeping us waiting for Seventh Son. The movie has been in the works for years and even after it was shot there were delay, as while it was originally due to be released October 2013, it’s not actually arriving in cinemas until next February.

But to help keep up the excitement a new trailer has arrived.

Here’s the official synopsis: ‘In a time long past, an evil is about to be unleashed that will reignite the war between the forces of the supernatural and humankind once more.

‘Master Gregory (Jeff Bridges) is a knight who had imprisoned the malevolently powerful witch, Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore), centuries ago. But now she has escaped and is seeking vengeance. Summoning her followers of every incarceration, Mother Malkin is preparing to unleash her terrible wrath on an unsuspecting world.

‘Only one thing stands in her way: Master Gregory. In a deadly reunion, Gregory comes face to face with the evil he always feared would someday return. Now he has only until the next full moon to do what normally takes years: train his new apprentice, Tom Ward (Ben Barnes) to fight a dark magic unlike any other.

‘Man’s only hope lies in the seventh son of a seventh son.’ [Read more…]

Pixar’s Inside Out Character Posters Debut

November 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

inside-out-character-poster4-slideDisney-Pixar has unleashed a set of characters posters for their next treat, Inside Out, an rather intriguing movie that’s set inside the mind of an eight-year-old girl.

We’ve already had a trailer, but now it’s time to meet the girl’s individual emotions. You can take a look at them below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From an adventurous balloon ride above the clouds to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy Award®-winning director Pete Docter (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Up”) has taken audiences to unique and imaginative places. In Disney•Pixar’s original movie “ Inside Out,” he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all—inside the mind.

‘Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.’

The film’s due out in the UK July 2015. [Read more…]

Jack O’Connell & Julia Roberts Up To Join George Clooney In Money Monster

November 15, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jack-oconnell-shirtlessJodie Foster is stepping behind the camera again for Money Monster and she’s building a great cast to do it. George Clooney has been attached for a while, and now THR reports that Julia Roberts and Jack O’Connell are in talks to join him.

The film is about Lee Gates, a TV personality whose insider trading tips have made him the money guru of Wall Street. However when Kyle, a viewer who lost all of his family’s money on a bad tip from Lee, holds Lee hostage on air, ratings soar as the entire country tunes in to this media frenzy to find out just how much a man’s life is worth.

O’Connell will be Kyle, while Robert will be the show’s producer, who must help uncover the truth behind a tangle of big money lies in order to keep Gates alive.

The near real-time drama is set to shoot sometime next year.

Jude Law Will Be Knights Of The Round Table’s Villain Opposite Charlie Hunnam’s Arthur

November 15, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jude-lawIt appears there’s going to be a bit of a Sherlock Holmes reunion, as Variety reports that Jude Law is likely to reunite with director Guy Ritchie for Knights Of The Round Table: King Arthur. However he won’t be on the good guy side this time, as he’s apparently up to play the villain.

There’s no news on exactly who Law will play. The hope is that this will be the first part of a six-film series, so Law could be in line to play a baddie just in this movie, or a threat that will be present throughout the franchise. If he’s the latter he will presumably be the traitor Mordred.

Charlie Hunnam is set to play Arthur, with Astrid Berges-Frisbey as Guinevere. Sadly while Idris Elba was previously attached to play Arthur’s mentor, he’s apparently no longer involved.

The plan is to shoot early next year, with a July 22nd, 2016 release planned.

Daniel Bruhl Joins Captain America: Civil War (& Possibly Doctor Strange) In A Villainous Role

November 15, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Daniel-BruhlIt’s always busy in the world of Marvel, and with Avengers 2 and Ant Man wrapped and now in post-production, they’re already hard at work on putting the pieces together for Captain America: Civil War. Now another has slotted into place with the company revealing they’ve added Daniel Bruhl (Rush, Inglourious Basterds).

There’s no news on exactly who he’ll play, although most sources suggest he’s take on a villainous role in the movie – even with that, there’s disagreement over whether he’ll be the main villain or not.

Some have also linked to announcement to the related rumour that the Doctor Strange villain will be introduced in Civil War, and that this is the role Bruhl has signed on to play. At the moment this seems like the most likely scenario.

Anthony and Joe Russo return to direct, with a May 6th, 2016 release set.

Is Brenton Thwaites Hinting That He’s Bisexual?

November 14, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

brenton-thwaitesHello, and welcome to today’s edition of the internet possibly reading too much into off the cuff comments a celebrity made. The current person up for speculation is 25-year-old Aussie Brenton Thwaites, who started out in Home & Away before moving onto roles in the likes of Oculus, The Giver and Maleficent, and will soon be seen in Son Of A Gun and Gods Of Egypt.

Now though there’s lots of people wondering whether he’s bisexual, due to an interview he gave to TheFix, where one fan question was about what he looks for in a partner.

Thwaites replied, “Male or female?”

When told “both”, his main response was that what he looks for is “very different”.

However if you were hoping to find out what you need to do to get on his good side, you’re out of luck as he doesn’t really elaborate beyond peanut butter being important.

You can watch the video here, with Thwaites talking about relationships about six and a half minutes in.

So is he gay, straight or bisexual? To be honest we probably know as much about that now as we did yesterday.

New Fifty Shades Of Grey Trailer – Jamie Dornan seduces Dakota Johnson

November 14, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Fifty-Shades-QuadThe moment Universal bought the rights to Fifty Shades Of Grey, many wondered how they were going to turn the mommy porn book into a Hollywood studio movie. After all, the US ratings systems isn’t exactly known for having a reasonable attitude to sex on screen, especially with S&M thrown in.

Well, I think it’s fair to say that the sex will be toned down (Jamie Dornan even had a ‘no penis’ clause in his contract), and on the evidence of this trailer they’re going for style and sensuality – although I’m sure the sex won’t be completely absent, as the second half of the trailer suggests.

I was also a bit of a fan of this shot:

fifty-shades-trailer2-jamie-dornan-shirtless

Here’s the synopsis: ‘FIFTY SHADES OF GREY is the hotly anticipated film adaptation of the bestselling book that has become a global phenomenon. Since its release, the “Fifty Shades” trilogy has been translated in 52 languages worldwide and sold more than 90 million copies in e-book and print—making it one of the biggest and fastest-selling book series ever.

‘Stepping into the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, who have become iconic to millions of readers, are Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. Joining them in the cast are Luke Grimes as Christian’s brother, Elliot; Victor Rasuk as Anastasia’s close friend, José; and Jennifer Ehle as Anastasia’s mother, Carla. FIFTY SHADES OF GREY is being directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and produced by Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti alongside E. L. James, the creator of the series. The screenplay is by Kelly Marcel, with revisions by Patrick Marber and Mark Bomback.’

It’ll be in cinemas on Valentine’s 2015. [Read more…]

Escobar: Paradise Lost Trailer – Benicio Del Toro & Josh Hutcherson take on the drug kingpin

November 14, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

escobar-paradise-lostWhile he may not exactly have been the nicest guy in the world, Pablo Escobar is certainly a fascinating figure. He became a billionaire by getting drugs into the US and as a results was one of the world’s most wanted men. However his cash also meant it was difficult to touch him, as he could pay Colombian officials off and have anyone killed he wanted.

He was revered by many in the area he lived as a kind of Robin Hood figure, as he used large chunks of the cash he made to help the local area. Incidentally, he also built a zoo in the compound where he lived, and now there are hippos living wild there, as while the house has fallen into disrepair it’s proved impossible to move the semi-aquatic mammals.

Escobar: Paradise Lost looks at part of the drug kingpin’s story, following young surfer Nick (Josh Hutcherson) who thinks all his dreams have come true when he goes to visit his brother in Columbia. Against an idyllic backdrop of blue lagoons and white beaches he falls madly in love with a beautiful Colombian girl called Maria. It all seems perfect until he meets her uncle, one Pablo Escobar (Benicio Del Toro.

The film will be out in the US on January 16th, but there’s no UK date as yet. [Read more…]

Michelle MacLaren In Talks To Direct Wonder Woman

November 14, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

michelle-maclarenHollywood is general has a hideous record of giving major movies to female directors – even the first female Best Director Oscar winner, Kathryn Bigelow, didn’t find that success until she stepped away from Hollywood and went looking for films in the indie realm. Superhero movies are no exception, as while Thor: The Dark World was nearly helmed by Patty Jenkins, she was eventually replaced by a man, much to Natalie Portman’s annoyance.

However now it may finally happen, as Variety reports that Breaking Bad producer/director Michelle MacLaren is in talks to direct Wonder Woman for Warner Bros. As with many other directors who’ve been inducted into the world of Hollywood special effects tentpoles in the last couple of years, she’s also worked on Game Of Thrones.

There’s no news on the plot of the film, although Gal Gadot will play the role, with the character being introduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Although there have been some suggestions the film will take us back to the characters origins, at the moment it’s impossible to say.

Assuming MacLaren gets the job, she’ll be shooting the movie next year, for release June 23rd, 2017.

Jai Courtney May Join Suicide Squad As Deadshot

November 14, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jai-CourtneyJai Courtney didn’t hit the big time with A Good Day To Die Hard as many expected, but he’s got another shot at the a-list next year playing Kyle Reese in Terminator: Genisys. Now he’s in the process of booking another major role, as Variety reports he’s in talks to star in Warner/DC’s Suicide Squad.

It’s suggested he’ll be Floyd Lawton, a.k.a. Deadshot, who will be one of the film’s array of supervillains, who have all been captured but are offered the chance for redemption by taking on a mission from which none of them are expected to return alive.

It’s previously been reported that Margot Robbie is being eyed to play Harley Quinn and Jared Leto for The Joker, it’s also suggested Tom Hardy and Will Smith may be involved, with Jesse Eisenberg possibly reprising his role as Lex Luthor from Batman v Superman.

David Ayer is set to direct, with an early 2015 shoot expected. An August 5th, 2016 release date has already been set.
