New The Theory of Everything Trailer – Eddie Redmayne is a young Stephen Hawking

October 2, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

theory-of-everything-posterBefore A Brief History Of Time, Stephen Hawking was a young student with all sorts of promise, and that’s the world that The Theory Of Everything takes us into. A new trailer has now arrived, which you can watch below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The Theory of Everything is the story of the most brilliant and celebrated physicist of our time, Stephen Hawking (Eddie Redmayne), and Jane Wilde (Felicity Jones) the arts student he fell in love with whilst studying at Cambridge in the 1960s.

‘Little was expected from Stephen Hawking, a bright but shiftless student of cosmology, given just two years to live following the diagnosis of a fatal illness at 21 years of age. He became galvanized, however, by the love of fellow Cambridge student, Jane Wilde, and he went on to be called the successor to Einstein, as well as a husband and father to their three children. Over the course of their marriage as Stephen’s body collapsed and his academic renown soared, fault lines were exposed that tested the lineaments of their relationship and dramatically altered the course of both of their lives.

‘Professor Stephen Hawking is one of the most famous scientists of our age and author of the bestseller, “A Brief History of Time”, which has sold millions of copies world-wide.’

Redmayne and Jones are joined on screen by David Thewlis (The Fifth Estate, War Horse), Emily Watson (Anna Karenina, War Horse), Charlie Cox (Boardwalk Empire), Simon McBurney (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Jane Eyre), Maxine Peake (The Village, Red Riding) and Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones, The Iron Lady).

The film is released in UK cinemas on 1st January 2015. [Read more…]

The Water Diviner Trailer – Russell Crowe turns director

October 2, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

the-water-diviner-pic1Russell Crowe is expanding his CV by turning director with The Water Diviner, and now we can get our first taste of the film with the trailer below.

The movie is set in 1919 and follows an Australian father, Conor (Crowe), who travels to Turkey to locate his two sons. The brothers went missing during the battle of Gallipoli, which was an unsuccessful attempt by the Allied Powers to control the sea route from Europe to Russia during World War I.

Along the way Conor starts a relationship with the beautiful Turkish woman (Olga Kurylenko) who owns the hotel in which he stays. With the help of a Turkish officer, he attempts to discover his sons’ fate, praying that they are still alive.

Yilmaz Erdogan, Cem Yilmaz, Jai Courtney and Isabel Lucas also star. It’s out in Australia at Christmas, but it’s not clear when the rest of the world will see it. [Read more…]

Fresh Interstellar Trailer – Best look yet at Matthew McConaughey in Christopher Nolan’s latest

October 2, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

interstellar-poster2-slideWith each new piece of marketing for Interstellar the scale of the movie seems to get bigger and bigger, which perhaps isn’t that surprising considering it’s from Christopher Nolan and has been described by Matthew McConaughey as one of the biggest movie he or anyone else has ever worked on.

Now a great new trailer has arrived, which gives us our best look yet at the movie, which does seem to be pretty cool.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘With our time on Earth coming to an end, a team of explorers undertakes the most important mission in human history: traveling beyond this galaxy to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars.’

McConaughey stars alongside Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway and Michael Caine. It’s in UK cinemas on November 7th. [Read more…]

New Exodus: Gods And Kings Trailer – Ridley Scott directs Christian Bale as Moses

October 2, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

exodus-gods-and-kings-slideIt’ll be interesting to see if Fox’s big-budget bet with Exodus: Gods And Kings pays off, taking the biblical story of Moses and giving it all the modern special effects it can handle. Now a new trailer has arrived, which certainly tries to sell it on the spectacle rather than religion.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From acclaimed director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Prometheus) comes the epic adventure EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS, the story of one man’s daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses (Christian Bale) as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Rhamses (Joel Edgerton), setting 400,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.’

The movie will be in UK cinemas on December 26th. [Read more…]

First Look At Bradley Cooper In American Sniper

October 2, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

american-sniper-pic1At one point it looked like producer/star Bradley Cooper had scored Steven Spielberg to direct American Sniper. However while the bearded one stepped away he got a great replacement in the form of Clint Eastwood.

Now the first images have arrived, via USA Today, and you can take a look at them above and below.

The action movie is based on the autobiography of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (Cooper), a Texas native who racked up the most confirmed sniper kills of anyone in US military history. However before he took the record, he was a rodeo cowboy. Tragically though, he was killed by a fellow veteran at a shooting range in February 2013 (it’s not clear if that will be included in the movie).

Cooper did manage to talk to Kyle before he died. He says, “Thank God I got to talk to him once on the phone. It was a very quick conversation. But I did tell him how serious I was about making this movie. And he should just know that whatever fears he had about Hollywood, to just put them aside and trust me. That I was going to do everything I could to tell this story.”

Sienna Miller also stars as Kyle’s wife Taya Renae Kyle.

Ben Affleck May Be The Accountant In A New Action Thriller

October 2, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ben-affleckA few years ago Ben Affleck’s acting career looked slightly dead on its feet, with most expecting he’d end up working mainly as a director. However thanks to the likes of Argo, The Town, Gone Girl and the upcoming Batman v Superman, he’s come back with a vengeance.

Now he’s in talks for a new role, as he could be The Accountant, according to Variety.

It’s not exactly the world’s most exciting title, but the movie is actually an action thriller about a mild-mannered accountant who also moonlights as a deadly assassin (and yes, that does make it sound like this is going to be a superhero movie without a superhero.

Gavin O’Connor (Warrior) is the top choice to direct, with Bill Dubuque (The Judge) writing the script.

It’s all a bit of a change, as it was initially being developed for Mel Gibson to direct and later Will Smith was set to star. Now Ben Affleck is interested, and hope to fit it in before he directs Live by Night, which will shoot next summer.

Now it’s returning with The Hollow Crown: The War of the Roses, which gives us Henry VI Parts 1 & 2, along with Richard III.

Yet again we have assembled an amazing cast – led by Benedict Cumberbatch, Judi Dench, Hugh Bonneville, and Sophie Okonedo, amongst many others – under the direction of the hugely talented Dominic Cooke. Grind Short Film – Gay hookup apps get their own mini-movie musical starring Anthony Rapp

October 1, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

grind-short-filmBack in January we posted the trailer for Grind, which at the time was looking for crowdfunded completion funding. It succeeded in getting the money it needed and is now available for us all to watch.

It’s certainly an unusual film –  a 35-minute film musical themed around how gay hookups apps have altered how we see the world, and whether we really know who we’re talking to via our smartphones – but it’s a good one. The cast includes Anthony Rapp, who’s probably best known for the stage and film version of Rent (although to many he will always be Tony in Dazed and Confused). Grimm star Claire Coffee also stars, as does the very good looking Pasha Pellosie.

The film has already won several awards and screened at numerous film festivals around the world. However if you haven’t managed to catch it at one of its cinema screenings, you can watch it below. There are moment when it’s a bit over the top, but overall it’s more than worth half an hour of your time. [Read more…]

Tak3n Trailer – Liam Neeson’s Bryan Mills becomes a pacifist (not really)

October 1, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Taken-3-QuadIn Tak3n (or Taken 3, for those who cringe at bringing numbers into words) Liam Neeson becomes a Buddhist monk, has tea parties and teaches people that hugging bunnies is better than violence. Ok, no he doesn’t, he kicks a lot more ass and does his best impression of Richard Kimble in The Fugitive by going on the run after being framed for the murder of his (ex-)wife. Did a one-armed man do it?

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Liam Neeson returns as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose reconciliation with his ex-wife is tragically cut short when she is brutally murdered. Consumed with rage, and framed for the crime, he goes on the run to evade the relentless pursuit of the CIA, FBI and the police. For one last time, Mills must use his “particular set of skills,” to track down the real killers, exact his unique brand of justice, and protect the only thing that matters to him now – his daughter.’

The movie is out in the UK on January 8th. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]
