Jay Baruchel Joins Cameron Crowe’s New Rom-Com

October 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jay-baruchelWith shooting believed to be starting relatively soon, Jay Baruchel has signed up to star in Cameron’s Crowe’s upcoming romantic comedy, which currently doesn’t have a title, according to THR. It’s a bit of a reunion for Baruchel and Crowe, as the Canadian actor got one of his very first roles in Almost Famous.

The new movie is about a defense contractor (Bradley Cooper) who is overseeing the launch of a weapons satellite in Hawaii. He ends up falling for an Air Force pilot (Emma Stone), and together they secretly plan to sabotage the launch. Giving things a slightly sci-fi flavour, the movie also features mysterious island forces and a talking computer. Baruchel is playing the contractor’s step brother. Rachel McAdams, Danny McBride and Alec Baldwin are also set to star.

Cameron Crowe is directing from his own original screenplay.

New American Hustle Trailer – Christian Bale & Bradley Cooper know the score

October 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s a lot of anticipation for David O. Russell’s American Hustle, which reunites arrived Silver Linings Playbook’s Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, and The Fighter’s Christian Bale and Amy Adams. Now a new trailer has been released.

Here’s the synopsis: Set in the seductive world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock the United States, American Hustle tells the story of brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his equally cunning British partner and lover Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) is forced to work for a wild unhinged FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that’s as dangerous as it is enchanting. Jeremy Renner is Carmine Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving’s unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down.

The film is out at Christmas. [Read more…]

New The Monuments Men Trailer – George Clooney, Matt Damon & co. are after looted art

October 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

George Clooney is back in the director’s chair for The Monuments Men, and if this new trailer is anything to go by, it looks like it’ll be vying for awards early next year. Clooney also stars alongside Matt Damon, John Goodman, Bob Balaban, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Jean Dujardin, and Hugh Bonneville.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men is an action-thriller focusing on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys – seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 – possibly hope to succeed?  But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind’s greatest achievements.’

It’s due out in the US on December 18th, while it’ll arrive in the UK on January 9th. [Read more…]

Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell & More Show Off Their Sex Faces In Nymphomanic Character Posters

October 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

nymphomaniac-character-poster1-slide
The few clips we’ve had from Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac have been fairly tame for a movie that’s said to be filled with sex, which will result in the director needing to edit both hardcore and softcore versions for different parts of the world.

Now things are getting a little sexier with 14 characters posters showing off the cast, and they all seem to be having a great time!

We’re still waiting to see how the sex works in the movie, as while Von Trier has said it will be real, there’s also been talk of some of the actors having their heads stitched onto body doubles digitally. So whether we will get to see the likes of Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Willem Dafoe and Stellan Skarsgard really getting intimate on screen, we’ll have to wait and see.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The film is a wild and poetic story of a woman’s erotic journey from birth to the age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, Joe (Gainsbourg). On a cold winter’s evening the old, charming bachelor, Seligman (Skarsgard), finds Joe beaten up in an alley. He brings her home to his flat where he cares for her wounds while asking her about her life. He listens intently as Joe over the next 8 chapters recounts the lushly branched-out and multi-faceted story of her life, rich in associations and interjecting incidents.’

Take a look at all the new posters below. [Read more…]

Christoph Waltz & Chris Pine May Be Horrible Bosses In The Sequel

October 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

chris-pine-out-magazine2-slide
Ever since the first film became a hit, Horrible Bosses 2 has been in the works. However it’s only now that it’s fully coming together with some new names in the mix as nasty bosses. Deadline reports being courted to play a nasty father-son boss pair who make life difficult for returning stars Jason Sudeikis, Jason Bateman, and Charlie Day.

While the filmmakers want both of them, Waltz is probably too busy to sign up, but Pine is a real possibility. Hopefully Chris will sign on as he could make a great asshole boss, allowing his more smarmy side to shine.

There’s no word on whether there’s room for Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston, or Colin Farrell in Horrible Bosses 2, but Jamie Foxx should return.

The film is scripted by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, with rewrites by director Sean Anders and producer John Morris.

First Look Behind-The-Scenes At Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken

October 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

unbroken-pic1
Angelina Jolie’s second directorial outing has just started shooting, and to mark that the first behind-the-scenes image has been released ,featuring the director/actress and the man the movie is about, Louis Zamperini (let’s just hope Brad Pitt doesn’t get jealous of how much Angelina seems to like him).

Jolie and Zamperini, who are neighbours, have become close friends over the development of the film, as the filmmaker listened to the war hero recount the incredible incidents of his life over many months of preparation.

Jack O’Connell will play Zamperini, a former Olympic track star whose Air Force plane went down in the Pacific Ocean in World War II. He managed to survive for 47 days on a life raft in the midst of shark attacks and enemy fire, before he washed up on a Japanese island where he was taken prisoner for more than two years. Gerrett Hedlund is portraying fellow P.O.W. Commander John Fitzgerald.

O’Connell recently spent several afternoons with Louis Zamperini to his incredible tale firsthand. Louis Zamperini retains many keepsakes from his adventures in his home. Unbroken is set for release Christmas Day, 2014.

John Lee Hancock Brought In To Oversee Malificent Reshoots

October 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

john-lee-hancockIt seems there may be a couple of issues with Walt Disney Pictures’s Maleficent, as the House Of Mouse has hired John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) to write new scenes for the upcoming reshoots. He won’t helm the additional material himself, but he is coming on board to help oversee the production with first-time director Robert Stromberg, according to THR.

Producer Joe Roth commented, “We asked him to be on set. He’s not directing. He wrote pages, and I hired a first-time director, and it’s good to have him on set. The movie is gorgeous to look at, and the last 75 minutes are really entertaining. The issue is the opening, which is being reshot over eight days.”

The extra shooting does not include any scenes with star Angelina Jolie, who recently started production on her next directorial effort Unbroken in Australia. Maleficent, a revisionist take on Sleeping Beauty told from the villain’s point of view, is still slated for release on May 30, 2014.

Although reshoots can be a sign of major problems, they’re increasingly being used to iron out kinks, which seems to be what is happening here if Jolie doesn’t need to be involved. It is farily rare to have another director oversee them though. The movie is in cinemas next summer.

Kit Harington, Jack O’Connell & Miles Teller Test For Fantastic Four

October 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s believed that Fox’s reboot of Fantastic Four is nearly at the point where it ready to shoot. While there have been casting rumours for months, it’s only now they’re properly started testing actors, starting with Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and Sue Storm (The Invisible Girl).

Insiders told Variety that Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), Miles Teller (The Spectacular Now) and Jack O’Connell (300: Rise of an Empire) are in line to get test for the Reed Richards role, while Saoirse Ronan (The Host), Kate Mara (Transcendence) and Margot Robbie (About Time) will try out for Sue Storm.

The studio is looking to go much younger with this rebooted version, in hopes of drawing in a new audience to reinvigorate the franchise (although it should be noted Reed Richards was in his 20s in the original comic, so despite the image of his as slightly older, they haven’t completely ditched the character’s origins).

For several months Michael B. Jordan (Chronicle, Fruitvale Station) has been the favourite to play Johnny Storm (The Human Torch), although that may change. No actors have been mentioned in connection with either Ben Grimm (The Thing) or the villain yet.

Simon Kinberg was recently brought on to work on the script, providing a polish. Jeremy Slater, Michael Green, Seth Grahame-Smith and T.S. Nowlin have previously worked on the script. Josh Trank is directing the reboot, with shooting expected to begin in the next few months.

Chloe Moretz Up For November Criminals, With Sacha Gervasi Directing

October 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

chloe-moretzCarrie is set to hit cinemas very soon, and while Chloe Moretz may be busy promoting that, she’s also looking to the future, as she’s planning to star in Sacha Gervasi’s upcoming adaptation of Sam Munson’s young adult novel The November Criminals, according to TheWrap.

The book is about 18-year-old Addison Schacht, who is a high-school senior in Washington D.C. He wants to go to the University of Chicago, but his plans are sidetracked when a fellow classmate is killed in a senseless shooting. He takes it upon himself to begin an investigation and find the murderer.

Chloe Moretz is set to play the female lead, Phoebe, although no one is set to play Addison yet.

Gervasi is directing from a script he reworked from an original draft provided by Steven Knight.

Oliver Stone Plans Martin Luther King Jr. Biopic, With Jamie Foxx Starring

October 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Oliver-StoneFor quite a while DreamWorks has been planning to make a biopic of Martin Luther King Jr., but for the last year or so it’s been on the backburner. Now things are moving forward, with Jamie Foxx in talks to play the legendary civil right leader and Oliver Stone negotiating to direct, according to THR.

It was back in 2009 that the studio acquired the Civil Rights leader’s life rights and access to all of his copyrighted speeches, including his famous ‘I Have a Dream’ speech, books and other works. It was the first time Martin Luther King’s family had granted permission to use his intellectual property for a feature film.

Kario Salem (Chasing Mavericks) wrote the screenplay, after spending three years doing research and interviews. Ronald Harwood (Quartet) wrote an earlier draft.

Steven Spielberg is producing for DreamWorks. It’s not clear when it might shoot.
