Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 Poster Show Off The Food-imals

February 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

cloudy-2-preview-poster1
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs saw a small town essentially turned to food, but things are evolving for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (formerly titled Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers). As the new poster shows, this time they’re dealing with food that’s come to life.

The story follows Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) as he joins his idol Chester V (Will Forte) at The Live Corp Company, home to some of the greatest minds in the world. However, when Flint learns that his invention that turns water to food is also creating food beasts, he must gather his old friends to put a stop to this madness.

The poster is an appetiser for the first trailer, which is due to debut later today.

Mama Director Andres Muschietti Staying Creepy With Bird Box

February 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Andres-MuschiettiAndres Muschietti recently made his feature directorial debut with Mama, adapted from his own short. The film only cost $15 million to make but has already grossed $100 million and counting. Hollywood loves a filmmaker who can keep things cheap and yet still make money, so it’s little surprise Muschietti has lined up a new gig.

THR reports the director is staying creepy with Bird Box, adaptated from a novel written by Josh Malerman (who also happens to be the frontman of the band The High Strung). The movie is described as a mix of Children of Men and The Others, following a woman and two children as they travel down a river “in a seemingly post-apocalyptic setting”.

Universal is backing the movie, and is apparently looking for writers to adapt Malerman’s manuscript.

Seth Grahame-Smith Rewriting Fantastic Four Reboot

February 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

seth-grahame-smithWhile neither Dark Shadows nor Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter performed to expectations last year, Hollywood still loves writer Seth Grahame-Smith, and so Fox has asked him to come on-board their Fantastic Four reboot in order to polish the most recent script, written by Jeremy Slater, according to THR.

Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s Fantastic Four comic books debuted in 1961, featuring Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Sue Storm (The Invisible Girl), her brother Johnny Storm (The Human Torch), and Ben Grimm (The Thing), all of whom gain superpowers after being exposed to radiation during a space mission.

While the recent movies took a very popcorn, silly approach (which some liked but many didn’t), the new rendition, to be directed by Josh Trank (Chronicle), is said to have a more grounded, sci-fi approach that taps deeper into the comic book’s well of villains.

It isn’t known when it might shoot, with rumours suggesting it may be a while yet, with Fox wanting to make sure all the pieces are perfect before they go into production (not to mention they already have two X-Men movies lined up for release in the next 18 months).

Juliette Binoche In Talks For Godzilla

February 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

juliette-binocheWith the reboot of Godzilla gearing up to shoot soon, director Gareth Edwards is busy pulling together the cast (something made more difficult by the fact the script isn’t finished and most people won’t sign on until they seen the final screenplay). The latest to circle the project is Juliette Binoche, according to Variety.

Aaron Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and Bryan Cranston are still in negotiations to star, but no character details have been revealed quite yet. Gareth Edwards is directing from a screenplay that is currently being rewritten by The Walking Dead creator Frank Darabont. David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Rises) and Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) wrote previous drafts of the script. Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, and Mary Parent are producing for Legendary.

Godzilla comes to theaters May 16th, 2014.

Family Weekend Trailer – Kristin Chenoweth & Matthew Modine get all tied up

February 26, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kristin Chenoweth and Matthew Modine are having more than a few problems as parent in Family Weekend.

Olesya Rulin plays their 16-year-old overachiever who decides to tie her parents up and try to bring her family back together after they miss her jump-rope competition. Chenoweth is the career-driven mother and Matthew Modine plays the carefree artist dad, who might not be contributing much to the family financially.

The first trailer and poster for the movie has now arrived (probably tied to Chenoweth’s presence at the end of the Oscars). No UK date is set, but it reaches the US on March 29th.

First Look At Nicole Kidman In Grace Of Monaco

February 26, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

grace-of-monaco-pic1
Grace Of Monaco has already proved a tad controversial, as the European principality – which is notoriously protective of the late Grace Kelly (perhaps unsurprisingly as she’s the mother of current monarch, Albert II) – has already come out to claim the movie is inaccurate.

However as nobody’s seen it, we’ll have to wait and see what the end product is like. Now the first images have arrived, via The Playlist, showing us Nicole Kidman as Princess Grace.

The film concentrates on a time when Monaco was in a conflict with France and Grace Kelly (Kidman), who by then had given up acting and was the small country’s princess, worked to prevent a coup after French president Charles de Gaulle handed Grace’s husband Crown Prince Rainier (Tim Roth) a six-month deadline to reform Monaco’s financial laws and status as an extreme tax haven. Frank Langella, Parker Posey, Milo Ventimiglia, and Paz Vega also star. (It’s the film’s depiction of this time as an extreme consitutional crisis and Grace’s role in it that Monaco is protesting, as well as for “pointlessly glamorizing” her life).

No release date is currently set, but it’s expected to get an Oscar push, so a late 2013 release is likely.

Coen Brothers Rewriting Unbroken For Director Angelina Jolie

February 26, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

coen-brothersA biopic of Lou Zamperini has been in the works for a long time, and a few months ago it got some extra impetus when Angelina Jolie signed on to direct. However it seems the script isn’t quite ready, as she’s reached out to the Coen Brothers for a rewrite, according to THR.

Although Joel and Ethan normally write scripts for themselves to helm, with the likes of Crimewave and Gambit they’ve been happy to work on the screenplay and then let others direct.

Currently titled Unbroken, the film is an adaptation of Laura Hillenbrand’s book about Lou Zamperini, a 1936 Berlin Olympics track star who joined the US Air Force during World War II. When his plane crashed he survived for 47 days at sea, got captured by the Japanese and ended up fighting for his life in a prison camp.

The likes of William Nicholson (Les Miserables) and Richard LaGravenese (Water For Elephants) have previously worked on the script.

Marion Cotillard Up For Two Days, One Night

February 26, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

marion-cotillardMarion Cotillard’s star still continues to grow, with the actress splitting her time between serious foreign dramas (Rust And Bone) and big budget American films (The Dark Knight Rises). Now she’s heading back to European cinema, with Variety reporting that she’s signed on to play the leading role in Two Days, One Night (Deux Jours, Une Nuit), the next film from award-winning brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne (The Kid With a Bike).

Cotillard will play Sandra, a woman who has one weekend to convince her colleagues to give up their bonuses so that she can keep her job. French actor Fabrizio Rongione will play her helpful husband.

The plan is to shoot the movie this summer in Belgium. She’s not giving up on English-language movies though, as we should see Marion this year in both Lowlife, opposite Jeremy Renner and Joaquin Phoenix, and Blood Ties, with Mila Kunis and Clovie Owen.

Will James McAvoy Be The New Crow?

February 26, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

james-mcavoy-wantedA remake of The Crow has been in the works for years, with the likes of Mark Wahlberg, Bradley Cooper and Channing Tatum all talked about to star at various points. However we haven’t heard much about it for the last few months, but the project isn’t dead, as Bloody Disgusting says that James McAvoy is now circling the movie.

He would play Eric Draven, a rock star who is brutally murdered along with his fiancee. He then comes back to life to avenge his and his fiancee’s murder, so their souls can finally rest in peace. Brandon Lee portrayed the iconic character in the original 1994 movie The Crow.

F. Javier Gutiérrez (Before The Fall) is set to direct from a screenplay by Jesse Wigutow. It isn’t known when production may begin (If McAvoy does sign on at the very earliest it would be after he finishes X-Men: Days Of Future Past).
