Sasha Barrese Back For The Hangover Part III

August 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Sasha Barrese, who starred in The Hangover and The Hangover Part II, has signed on to return for The Hangover Part III. She reprises her role as Tracy, who got married to Justin Bartha’s Doug at the end of The Hangover.

It isn’t clear how she will fit into the story line of this upcoming comedy sequel, largely because there’s been no plot details for the movie released, other than the gang will return to Las Vegas. She will not be the only familiar face returning for the final chapter. Along with The Wolf Pack (Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, and Justin Bartha), Ken Jeong, Mike Epps, Mike Tyson, and Heather Graham are all back.

Todd Phillips is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Craig Mazin. Film is scheduled to begin this fall. (Source: Variety)

Red Dawn Trailer – Take a look at Chris Hemsworth in the upcoming remake

August 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The remake of Red Dawn has been severely delayed by MGM’s bankruptcy. It was filmed back in 2009, at which time it didn’t have any big stars in it, but the delay may have helped, as Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson are now much bigger names than they were then. It’s finally set for release in Novermber. In the movie, a city in Washington state awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the US has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom. Take a look at the trailer.

First Pic Of Sly & Arnie In The Tomb Unleashed

August 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

In the 80s, when everyone wanted Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger to work together, they never did, but now they can’t stop themselves. They’ve got The Expendables 2 coming later this month and next year they have The Tomb.

Now the first image from that movie has popped up online showing the legendary action stars in prison. The film is about Ray Breslin (Stallone), a security expert who designed the most secure prison known to man. When he’s framed for a crime and sent to the prison he designed, he must outsmart himself to escape. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Church, an inmate who helps his fellow prisoners stay in touch with their own humanity. James Caviezel, Vincent D’Onofrio, Vinnie Jones, 50 Cent, Amy Ryan and Matt Gerald also star.

First Official Look At Chris Hemsworth & Daniel Bruhl In Rush

August 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The first official images from Ron Howard’s Rush have debuted over at the movie’s website, showing off the fast cars and 70s style of this look at the rivalry between F1 drivers James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) and Nikki Lauda (Daniel Bruhl).

Hunt was a dashing playboy with a wild social life, whose exploits off the track filled more column inches than what he did while racing. Lauda meanwhile was a quieter figure, but still an amazing and driven racer. Their rivalry became legend both on and off the Grand Prix circuit.

We’ll have to wait a while to see the film though, which also stars Olivia Wilde, Natalie Dormer and Alexandra Maria Lara, as it’s not due for release until September 2013.

Mary Steenburgen Is Going To Last Vegas

August 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Mary Steenburgen in an Oscar-winning actress who it always feels should be in more and better films than she is. Now she’s just joined a high-profile project for Hollywood’s aging stars, Last Vegas.

The movie is about Billy (Michael Douglas), a longtime ladies man who is finally settling down and getting married in Las Vegas, to a woman half his age. Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Kline are playing Billy’s old friends who reunite in Sin City for the nuptials. Unsurprisingly, the film is being sold as an old guys’ The Hangover.

Mary Steenburgen will play Diana, a Vegas lounge singer who gets too close to Billy before his wedding. Diana also becomes involved in a bizarre love triangle when Robert De Niro’s Paddy takes an interest in her as well.

Jon Turteltaub is directing from a screenplay by Dan Fogelman. Shooting will begin this fall in Las Vegas. (Source: Deadline)

Jesse Eisenberg and Dakota Fanning Join Night Moves

August 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jesse Eisenberg and Dakota Fanning are getting their eco-terrorist on, as Variety reports that they have joined the cast of Night Moves for Film Science and writer-director Kelly Reichardt (Meek’s Cutoff).

The story centres on three eco-terrorists who plan on blowing up a dam. Jesse Eisenberg will play the leader of the trio, and Dakota Fanning is up to be a rich young woman who finances the operation. Peter Sarsgaard, who joined the project last October, plays the bomb maker. Paul Dano was originally attached for Jesse Eisenberg’s role, although he is no longer involved in the project.

Kelly Reichardt will direct from her own screenplay. Production is scheduled to begin this October in Portland, Oregon.

Bourne Legacy Tops The US Box Office

August 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Bourne Legacy got off to a decent start at the US box office, scoring a $40 million three-day opening. That’s less than the previous Bourne sequels, but that’s not surprising considering the lack of Matt Damon in this one, but it’s still ahead of the first film, which took $27 million on its first weekend. The real question is whether the movie will have legs, which remains to be seen, but the film has had okay reviews and may well do well in the coming weeks.

The Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis political comedy The Campaign came second with an okay but not spectacular $27 million. It’s good news for Ferrell, whose last couple of movies have severely underperformed at the box office (neither Case De Mi Padre or Everything Must Go passed $3 million on their openings).

The only other new entry was Hope Springs, starring Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones as a married couple looking to spice up their lives. It took $15.6 million over the weekend and $20 million since it hit cinema last Wednesday. It’s not a terrible opening, but with Steve Carell also starring, the studio was probably hoping for a little bit more.

Take a look below for the US box office top 10 for the weekend of August 10th-12th.

Rank Title Weekend Gross (millions) Total Gross to date (millions)
1 The Bourne Legacy $40.2 $40.2
2 The Campaign $27.4 $27.4
3 The Dark Knight Rises $19.5 $390.1
4 Hope Springs $15.6 $20.0
5 Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Dog Days $8.2 $30.5
6 Total Recall $8.1 $44.1
7 Ice Age: Continental Drift $6.7 $144.0
8 Ted $3.2 $209.9
9 Step Up Revolution $2.8 $30.1
10 The Amazing Spider-man $2.2 $255.5

Bill & Ted 3 Gets Director Dean Parisot

August 12, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For the last couple of years, there have been occasional whispers and reports that Bill & Ted 3 was slowly moving forward. The last we heard were a few tweets from Alex Winter in March where he revealed the script was ready and that they are awaiting a green light. Now it’s been revealed that Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) has signed on to direct, so a greenlight might be closer then we think, although financing is still an issue.

Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson, the writing team behind Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, wrote the screenplay for this third adventure. Last April, Keanu Reeves revealed that the story would revolve around Bill and Ted writing a song that eventually saves the world.

It still isn’t known what studio this sequel will land at. MGM Studios currently owns the rights to the franchise, but it is said that this package is being shopped around to other studios for co-financing. It isn’t known when production will begin, although it will have to wait until Dean Parisot wraps on Red 2, which he starts shooting next spring. (Source: Vulture)

Rosamund Pike Heads For Edgar Wright’s The World’s End

August 12, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Last month it was annouced that director Edgar Wright’s The World’s End has finally got the green light, reuniting the director with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Now the Daily Mail has revealed that Rosamund Pike has joined the cast.

This will be the final installment in Pegg, Frost and Wright’s Three Flavors Cornetto trilogy, folloing 2004’s Shaun of the Dead and 2007’s Hot Fuzz. However they soon realise that their goal of reaching the bar known as The World’s End is the last of their worries. It isn’t known what role Rosamund Pike will play.

Edgar Wright is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Simon Pegg. Filming will begin next month in the UK.

First Pic Of Russell Crowe In Noah Revealed

August 12, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The first image from Darren Arnofsky’s Noah has been revealed over at USA Today. As you can see above, it’s not particularly revelatory, although does suggest Russell Crowe’s Noah isn’t going to be the serene Biblical patriarch he’s often painted as.

The film follows Noah, who lives on a vast plain of volcanic ash in the lee of a volcanic glacier (the movie’s being shot in Iceland) and has to trek up a mountain every day to get to work. He is told by God to build an enormous vessel to house both his family and the animals of the world to preserve them from a flood that promises to wipe out a sin-filled world. It’s currently due for released on March 28th, 2014.
