Pan Trailer – Hugh Jackman & Garrett Hedlund are going to Neverland

July 16, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pan-main-poster-slideEarlier promos for Warner’s upcoming Peter Pan prequel have been rather underwhelming, largely because the whole thing looked like a rather shoddy cartoon. However it looks like they’ve been using the fact the release was delayed from Summer to October 2015 to work on the special effects and make the whole thing look a little less plastic.

This new trailer certainly looks a lot better and suggests this might actually be a decent movie.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Warner Bros. Pictures comes, “Pan,” a live-action Peter Pan feature directed by Joe Wright (“Atonement,” “Pride & Prejudice”).

‘Offering a new take on the origin of the classic characters created by J.M. Barrie, the action adventure follows the story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland. There, he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny—to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan.

‘The film stars Oscar® nominee Hugh Jackman (“Les Misérables”) as Blackbeard; Garrett Hedlund (“Inside Llewyn Davis”) as Hook; Oscar® nominee Rooney Mara (“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”) as Tiger Lily; Adeel Akhtar (“The Dictator”) as Smee; and newcomer Levi Miller as Peter.

‘Amanda Seyfried (“Les Misérables”) rounds out the cast as Mary, alongside Jack Charles (“Mystery Road”) as The Chief/Tiger Lily’s father; Taejoo Na (“The Kick”) as Kwahu; Nonso Anozie (“Son of God,” “Atonement”) as Bishop; Kathy Burke (“Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”) as Mother Barnabas; Kurt Egyiawan (“Skyfall”) as Murray; Lewis MacDougall (UK TV’s “In the Name of the Children”) as Nibs; and newcomer Leni Zieglmeier as Wendy Darling.’ [Read more…]

New Legend UK Trailer – Tom Hardy turns bisexual as both of the Kray Twins

July 16, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

legend-poster-slideBack in 1990 Spandau Ballet stars Martin and Gary Kemp took on the roles of the infamous Kray Twins in a biopic of the famed 1960s British gangsters. Now it’s Tom Hardy’s turn to play both Ronnie and Reggie in Legend.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Academy Award® winner Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential, Mystic River) comes the true story of the rise and fall of London’s most notorious gangsters, Reggie and Ron Kray, both portrayed by Tom Hardy in an amazing double performance. LEGEND is a classic crime thriller taking us into the secret history of the 1960s and the extraordinary events that secured the infamy of the Kray Twins.’

The movie will also include the fact that Ronnie Kray was bisexual (while some say he exclusively slept with men, he identified as bisexual). Although him being open about this may seem odd for the 60s, especially considering his profession, it is known that that he did tell many about it and had a series of pretty young boyfriends he likes to show of. He knew the no matter what anyone really though, no one would dare say anything about it to his face – especially because, he was pretty nuts.

The main UK trailer and a poster has been released, to give us a taste of the movie that will be released on Wednesday 9th September 2015. [Read more…]

Disney Plans A Live-Action Aladdin Prequel

July 16, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

aladdin-disney-slideLast time Disney went to the fantasy Middle East with Prince Of Persia it didn’t turn out particularly well (in fact it made a massive loss), but the House Of Mouse has been having plenty of success with live-action takes on its classic animated tales, so they’re now planning to go back to Arabia with a prequel to Aladdin.

The film is currently titled Genies, and as you may have guessed it centres on the character in the magic lamp. Although it’s early days and no script has been written the idea is that it will tell the story of how the Genie got into that lamp in the first place, and will largely be set in ‘realm of the Genies’, according to THR.

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift are on screenplay duties.

The film joins a packed Disney animated-to-live-action roster that includes Beauty & The Beast, The Little Mermaid, The Jungle Book, Prince Charming and several others.

First Look At Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult & More In X-Men Apocalypse

July 16, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

x-men-apocalypse-ew-cover-slideThe mutants are back next year in X-Men Apocalypse, and after adventures set in the 1960s and 1970s, it’s time for Magneto, Professor X, Raven, Beast and co. to enter the 1980s.

EW has offered the first look at the movie with a cover and several images, including our first look at the villain, the titular Apocalypse, an ancient mutant with extraordinary powers that dwarf those of most others. While he was glimpsed at the end of Days Of Future Past looking largely like a normal human being, it appears several thousand years have changed him.

Along with a new villain, we get younger versions of characters we’ve seen before, such as Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), and Angel (Ben Hardy).

They all end up on different sides of a battle where the ancient mutant decides the world has gone to hell since his time and that things would be better if he were in charge, and so he recruits the likes of Magneto to help him.

The movie is due out May 27th, 2016. [Read more…]

Experimental Gay Film He Loves Me Seeks Funding

July 14, 2015 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

he-loves-me-sanuye_shotekaCrowdfunding is becoming an increasingly popular way of raising cash for gay-themed film projects, and Konstantinos Menelaou is hoping to use it to help him jump into the realm of feature-length movies

According to the makers, He Loves Me balances ‘between fiction and documentary, the film will explore the unconventional nature of love and its ability to survive against the fear of loneliness and the problematic lifestyle of a big city. The collapsing relationship between Hermes and Shanuye finds an outlet for escape in an isolated beach. Once there, they expose their feelings and release their emotions. Their love reborn might not be enough to amend all the shattered pieces of their relationship.

Through this film Menelaou wants to create a new outlet of communication, which will allow the actors and the director to explore the key issues posed by the script and to offer the audience the chance to participate and further the dialogue when the film reaches its destinations.’

The film is expected to be ready by early December 2015 and will be submitted to a series of film festivals, amongst which is Berlinale, Toronto, Sundance, OutFest, Flare, South by Southwest and Venice.

Alongside the Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign, a promo trailer for He Loves Me has been released, which you can take a look at below. If you like that, head over to Indiegogo to find out more. [Read more…]

Suicide Squad First Look Trailer – The DC Comics bad guys get a shot at redemption

July 14, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

suicide-squad-cast-photo2-slideWhile it’s a safe bet Batman v Superman will do good business, 2015’s other major DC Comics adaptation, Suicide Squad, is a more uncertain proposition. It’s not surprising then that the film wanted to use Comic Con to introduce the world to the movie and they’ve now released the first look trailer for us all to see.

It’s certainly a potentially cool one, with a very detailed and different kind of comic book world to the one we’re used to – and the trailer also seems keen to silence those who’d already pre-judged Jared Leto as being wrong for The Joker.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘An all-star roster of actors has joined new action adventure Suicide Squad, bringing DC Comics’ super villain team to the big screen under the direction of David Ayer (“Fury”).

‘The film will star two-time Oscar nominee Will Smith (“The Pursuit of Happyness,” “Ali,” “Focus”) as Deadshot; Joel Kinnaman (“Run All Night”, “Robocop”) as Rick Flagg; Margot Robbie (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Focus,” upcoming the “Tarzan” movie) as Harley Quinn; Oscar winner Jared Leto (“Dallas Buyers Club,” “Alexander”) as the Joker; Jai Courtney (“Divergent,” “The Water Diviner”) as Boomerang; and Cara Delevingne (“Anna Karenina,” upcoming “Pan”) as Enchantress.

‘Ayer is also writing the script for Suicide Squad, which is being produced by Charles Roven (“The Dark Knight” trilogy, upcoming “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”) and Richard Suckle (“American Hustle”). Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Colin Wilson and Geoff Johns are serving as executive producers.’

The film will be in cinemas August 2016. [Read more…]

Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice Trailer – Ben Affleck & Henry Cavill bring the dark & brooding

July 12, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

batman-v-superman-trailer-slideBatman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice decided Comic Con was a good time to unveil the first full length trailer, and to show us this is a film that plans to be dark, brooding, epic and seemingly pretty intense. Along with Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman, it also gives us a look at Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.’

Take a look at the trailer below – it’s well worth watching. Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice is due out March 2016. [Read more…]
