New Interstellar Trailer – Take a look at what Comic Con audiences saw of Christopher Nolan’s film

July 30, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

interstellar-poster-slideThere’s a lot of anticipation for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, and while we had a trailer a few months ago, it only offered hints at what to expect, as while the movie is about a journey into space, the footage was largely earthbound.

However now a new trailer has emerged, which debuted last week as Comic Con and is now online. It gives us a much better look at both the problems on earth and what happens when it leaves orbit.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Directed and co-written by Christopher Nolan (“Inception,” “The Dark Knight” Trilogy), the production will travel the globe and utilize a mixture of 35mm anamorphic and IMAX film photography to bring to the screen a script based on the combination of an original idea by Nolan and an existing script by Jonathan Nolan, originally developed for Paramount Pictures and producer Lynda Obst. The new script chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

‘“Interstellar” features a prestigious cast that includes Matthew McCaughey (“Magic Mike,” “Mud”), Academy Award® winner Anne Hathaway (“Les Miserables,” “The Dark Knight Rises”), Academy Award® nominee Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty,” “The Tree of Life”), Bill Irwin (“Rachel Getting Married,” TV’s “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”), Academy Award® nominee John Lithgow (“Terms of Endearment,” “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), Academy Award® nominee Casey Affleck (“The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” “Gone Baby Gone”), David Gyasi (“Cloud Atlas”), Wes Bentley (“The Hunger Games”), Mackenzie Foy (“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Parts 1 and 2”), Timothée Chalamet (TV’s “Homeland”), Topher Grace (“Spider-Man 3”), David Oyelowo (“Jack Reacher,” “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), Academy Award® winner Ellen Burstyn (“The Last Picture Show,” “The Exorcist”), and Academy Award® winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules,” “The Dark Knight” Trilogy).’

The film’s due out in November. [Read more…]

New The Maze Runner Trailer – Dylan O’Brien is thrust into the heart of a labyrinth

July 29, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Maze-Runner-Poster2-slideA lot of people have been overlooking The Maze Runner, viewing it as simply one more young adult novel adaptation to ass to the list of films that slip past with few people paying much attention. However reports coming out of Comic Con suggest it could actually be something a bit more interesting.

That’s certainly backed up by this new trailer, which looks surprisingly cool and intense, and seems to have learned lessons from Hunger Games that you can get away with being quite dark.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Based on the best-selling young adult thriller, THE MAZE RUNNER is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where Thomas is deposited in a community of young men after his memory is erased. After learning they’re all trapped in a maze, Thomas joins forces with fellow “runners” to not only escape the maze, but solve its riddle and reveal the chilling secret of who brought them there, and why.’

Dylan O’Brien, Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelaria, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Patricia Clarkson star. It’ll be out in cinemas in October. [Read more…]

New Sin City: A Dame To Kill Trailer – Back into the comic book world with Josh Brolin and co.

July 29, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sin-city-2-character-poster1-slideThere were impressive sounds coming out of Comic Con about the footage from Sin City: A Dame To Kill that screened there, with many saying it’s an even more impressive creation of Frank Miller’s comic book world this time around.

While we don’t have all the footage, the red band Comic Con trailer for the movie has now been released, which you can watch below. It certainly looks impressive, and we’re hoping this is going to be one of the few films where 3D really can add something special to the mix.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Nine years after the box-office smash SIN CITY, the stories of the notorious city dwellers resume in the hugely anticipated sequel SIN CITY 2: A DAME TO KILL FOR. Boasting an all-star cast led by Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises), Eva Green (Dark Shadows), Juno Temple (Killer Joe), Jessica Alba (Sin City, Fantastic Four), Bruce Willis (Looper) and Josh Brolin (Old Boy), this next installment promises to take audiences on a visceral ride into the twisted minds of Frank Miller’s unforgettable characters.

‘Co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller reunite to bring Miller’s visually stunning “Sin City” graphic novels back to the screen in SIN CITY 2: A DAME TO KILL FOR. Weaving together two of Miller’s classic stories with new tales, the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more reviled inhabitants. SIN CITY 2: A DAME TO KILL FOR is the follow-up to Rodriguez and Miller’s 2005 ground-breaking film, FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY.’

The film’s due to hit UK cinemas on 25th August 2014 (which oddly enough is a Monday). [Read more…]

Ben Stiller, Dan Stevens & Co. In The First Pics From Night At The Museum 3

July 29, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Night-at-the-Museum-3-pic3After the success of the first two instalments, Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb is on its way, with a Christmas release date set. Now USA Today has released the first few images, with the promise a trailer will arrive later this week.

The shots feature old faces such as Ben Stiller, Robin Williams and Rami Malek, along with franchise newcomers like a very suave looking Dan Stevens as Sir Lancelot.

And as you may notice by the fact they’re standing in front of the National Gallery in one of the pics below, the action has moved to London this time around. It’s believed the film takes in several of the city’s most famed museums, and centres around the fact the artefact that brings the exhibits to life at night is starting to decay, so Stiller’s Larry Daley and company need to find out what’s going on.

Take a look at the pics above and below.

Attack The Block’s Joe Cornish To Direct Skull Island?

July 29, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

joe-cornishLegendary Pictures surprised the Comic Con crowds over the weekend with the news that they were making Skull Island, a King Kong prequel set on the island the big beast comes from. They also set a release date – November 4th, 2016.

However what they’re lacking is everything else, such as a cast and director (although it does have a script). However it seems that with the deadline not too far away in Hollywood terms, they’re already closing in on a helmer, with Deadline reporting that they’ve offered the job to British comedian turned filmmaker, Joe Cornish.

Ever since Attack The Block there’s been a lot of interest in him, and he’s been rumoured for projects such as A Good Day To Die Hard and Star Trek 3, however he’s yet to make his first big Hollywood movie (although he has co-written Tintin and the upcoming Ant-Man). There’s no news on whether Cornish is likely to take the gig though.

July 28, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hobbit-battle-of-five-armies-poster1Once again out journey into Middle Earth is nearing its end, and to give us a feel for what the final instalment of The Hobbit has in store, the teaser trailer has arrived. Take a look at it below, along with the new poster above.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson comes “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies”, the third in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien.

‘“The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town.

‘Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honour to hoard it as Bilbo’s frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice. But there are even greater dangers ahead. Unseen by any but the Wizard Gandalf, the great enemy Sauron has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain.

‘As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide – unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in the epic Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-earth hangs in the balance.

‘”The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” is released in UK cinemas 12 December 2014.’ [Read more…]

The Maze Runner Gets The World’s Most Literal Poster, Featuring Dylan O’Brien & Will Poulter

July 28, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Maze-Runner-Poster2People around the world have probably been wondering what The Maze Runner is all about, so 20th Century Fox has come up with a poster to make things clear – in the movie there will be a maze, and people will do some running. Who would have thought?

It’s actually not a bad image though, even if it does seem a little to literal for our tastes.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 Teaser Trailer – Revolution is brewing for Katniss and co.

July 28, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hunger-games-mockingjay-poster-slideIt’s here! After some smart marketing where The Capitol has been calling for unity in a very iron fist in a velvet glove way, the teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is here, and you can watch it below.

Revolution seems inevitable, but Katniss still isn’t sure if she wants to be the poster child for it, even if the Districts do need someone to rally around. The teaser also gives us a look at Julianne Moore as Alma Coin, whose feeling about Katniss may not be entirely altruistic.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is due out November 21st, 2014, with the final film (until an inevitable further sequel or spin-off is announced), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, out the same time the following year.

Take a look at the teaser trailer below. [Read more…]

Mad Max: Fury Road Comic Con Trailer – Tom Hardy gets apocalyptic in the awesome first footage

July 27, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

mad-max-fury-road-character-poster1-slideThis year there have been fewer trailer than usual that first screened at Comic Con and were shortly afterwards available online. However now we have a doozy, as the Comic Con trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road has been released, and it looks pretty awesome.

We still have to wait until May next year to see it, but it’s starting to seem like the ridiculously long wait we’ve had for the movie (it shot in 2012) will be worth it. Take a look at the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.

‘Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order… There’s Max, a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos.

‘And… Furiosa, a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.’

And if the trailer isn’t enough, take a look at the character posters we posted earlier today. [Read more…]
