Is Indiana Jones 5 Coming To Secure Harrison Ford For Star Wars 7?

October 30, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

harrison-fordHarrison Ford has made it clear he’d like to make a fifth Indiana Jones movie, but has seemed more ambivalent about returning to Star Wars. Now rumours suggest that in order to agree to become Han Solo once more, he’s got Lucasfilm to put Indy 5 into active development.

Nothing has been confirmed (and this may all turn out to be false) but Harrison Ford apparently wanted Disney to commit to making Indiana Jones 5 as a part of his Star Wars deal. Disney wasn’t prepared to sign up for that, but they have apparently agreed to develop a treatment for the next Indy sequel by the end of 2014 and, if all parties are satisfied with the story, they will move forward for a 2016 release.

Ford is also said to have approved his Han Solo character arc that stretches beyond Star Wars: Episode VII, and led to the actor agreeing to a multi-picture deal.

There are stumbling blocks to Indiana Jones 5, not least that Paramount Pictures owns the rights to that franchise, while Disney own Lucasfilm. While a co-production is possible, it’s not know if either studio is will to get in bed with the other.

London Has Fallen For Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart & Morgan Freeman

October 29, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Olympus-has-fallen-posterMany had thought that in this year’s battle of terrorists-taking-over-the-White-House movies, White House Down would beat Olympus Has Fallen, but it was the latter that became the biggest hit, doing so well that a British set sequel is now in the works.

Currently titled London Has Fallen, Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett and Radha Mitchell are all set to reprise their roles from the original, according to ScreenDaily.

As the title suggest, the film moves the action from Washington DC to London. US President Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart) is in the UK to attend the funeral of the British Prime Minister, and has taken his Secret Service head, Mike Banning (Gerard Butler), with him. They must team up again to save the day with a British MI6 agent when a terrorist plot unfolds. Angela Bassett and Radha Mitchell are also set to reprise their roles as Secretary of Defense Ruth McMillan and Leah.

Olympus Has Fallen writers Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt back writing the screenplay. Focus Features is currently seeking a director, as it seems Antoine Fuqua won’t return. Filming will begin on May 5th, 2014.

Entourage Movie Gets the Greenlight – Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly & co. will be back

October 29, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

entourage-pic1Last week it seemed like in-fighting over money might kill the planned film version of Entourage, with producer Mark Wahlberg branding certain cast members as greedy. Then Adrian Grenier wrote a defence saying everyone should get a good deal if they’re going to make the film.

However it now appears that was all part of the tactics for the different sides to agree to terms and sign on the dotted line, as Entourage creator Doug Ellin revealed through his Twitter account that Warner Bros. has finally given the green light for the highly-anticipated movie.

The main problem with getting the cast to sign was apparently that Jeremy Piven closed a deal in August that gave him profit participation points. That wasn’t offered to Adrian Grenier, Jerry Ferrara, Kevin Dillon and Kevin Connolly, so they decided to hold out out for a share of the back end as well. Those issues now seem to have been sorted out.

Filming is slated to begin sometime in January, when Jeremy Piven is on hiatus from his British TV series Mr. Selfridge.

VFX Supervisor Cedric Nicolas-Troyan To Helm Highlander Remake

October 29, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

highlander-pic1It’s about a year since Juan Carlos Fresnadillo bailed on the planned remake of Highlander, and we haven’t heard a vast amount it since, apart from the fact potential star Ryan Reynolds is also out. However, no Summit Entertainment has hired visual effects supervisor Cedric Nicolas-Troyan to direct the movie, according to Deadline.

The original movie is about an immortal Scottish swordsman called Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert). He is mentored by Ramirez (Sean Connery) and spends centuries dueling other immortal rivals. After taking out most of his kind, he find himself fighting for his life against the murderously brutal barbarian Kurgan (Clancy Brown). They fight to become the final remaining immortal, who will influence the future of mankind. There can be only onee.

Cedric Nicolas-Troyan is directing from a script by Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Neal H. Mortiz, Peter Davis and Justin Lin will be producing. It’s Nicolas-Troyan’s first feature film as director, but he has a long track record in visual effect, scoring an Oscar nomination for Snow White And The Huntsman.

Emile Hirsch Will Be John Belushi In An Upcoming Biopic

October 29, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Emile Hirsch

Emile Hirsch

If you were going to cast someone to play portly comedy legend John Belushi, Emile Hirsch isn’t probably the first name that would come to your mind. However he has indeed signed on for a biopic of Belushi, according to Variety. The news comes only a few days after it was reported he was in contention for the title role alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Workaholics star Adam DeVine.

Steve Conrad (The Weather Man) wrote the screenplay and is directing the biopic, which follows John Belushi’s life until his tragic death at the age of 33 from a heroin overdose. The story is said to be an allegory that illuminates the highs and lows of the American dream (but then, isn’t nearly every biopic about a star with a drug problem?).

John Belushi’s widow, Judith Belushi-Pisano, is serving as executive producer along with Dan Aykroyd. Filming is planned to start next spring.

Noomi Rapace Playing Seven Characters In What Happened to Monday?

October 29, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Noomi-RapaceThe sci-fi thriller What Happened to Monday? has been in the works for quite a while, but it’s only now that it’s moving towards production with Noomi Rapace and director Tommy Wirkola signing up, according to THR.

Back in December 2011, Norwegian director Morten Tyldum (Headhunters) was attached to make his English-language debut with the movie, however he moved on and is making The Imitation Game instead. The movie is set in an overpopulated world where each family is only allowed one child.

Noomi Rapace is actually playing seven different roles as identical septuplet sisters, who try to remain hidden from the government. The lead role/roles were initially envisioned as seven brothers before Noomi Rapace came onboard. Wirkola commented,”I was struck by the complexities of having an actor portray seven characters and immediately knew Noomi was the ideal actor – male or female – to bring them to life.”

Max Botkin wrote the screenplay, which landed on The Black List in 2010.

Final Hunger Games: Catching Fire Trailer – Katniss is back in the arena very soon

October 28, 2013 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

It’s just a few weeks until the November 22nd release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and now there’s a final trailer, showing off the action and excitement. While earlier promos have concentrated on the early parts of the movie, this one takes us straight into the jungle arena and suggests it’s going to be just as dangerous as last time.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

‘THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE is directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has over 50 million copies in print in the U.S. alone. THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE opens on November 22, 2013.’ [Read more…]
