Matt Damon & George Clooney Get A Monuments Men Poster

August 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

monuments-men-poster1
George Clooney is back in the director’s chair for The Monuments Men, and now a new poster for the movie has arrived, shoeing off Clooney alongside co-stars such as Matt Damon, John Goodman, Bob Balaban, Bill Murray, Jean Dujardin, and Hugh Bonneville.

There’s no woman in the poster (it is the Monuments Men, after all), but Cate Blanchett also stars.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men is an action-thriller focusing on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys – seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 – possibly hope to succeed?  But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind’s greatest achievements.’

It’s due out in the US on December 18th, while it’ll arrive in the UK on January 9th.

Ong Bak Star Tony Jaa Up For Fast & Furious 7

August 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Tony-JaaThai star Tony Jaa amazed many with his incredible stunts in the likes of Ong Bak, but it’s only now that he’s making his English-language debut, as Jaa has signed on for Fast & Furious 7, according to THR.

Details about the actor’s role are being kept under wraps, but the actor released the following statement via email from his home country of Thailand, “I have been a big fan of the Fast & Furious franchise. The films are fast-paced, fun and keep the audience involved. There is a great mix of humor and action, something I really appreciate. There is no better film to be involved in for a first U.S. studio production.”

When asked whether or not he would get a chance to fight with Vin Diesel or Dwayne Johnson, and who would win in a fight between himself and either of the action stars, the actor said, “Having a chance to work with Vin Diesel and The Rock already makes me a winner.”

Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and MMA fighter Ronda Rousey are confirmed to star. James Wan is directing from a screenplay by Chris Morgan. Production will begin this September for release next year.

Ben Affleck Will Don Batman’s Cowl In Man Of Steel 2

August 23, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ben-affleckIn a move that’s surprised many, it’s been revealed that Ben Affleck has signed up to play Bruce Wayne/Batman in the as yet untitled, Man Of Steel 2. This will be an entirely new incarnation of the character rather than following on from the Christopher Nolan films and will bring Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen

Ben Affleck will star opposite Henry Cavill, who will reprise the role of Superman/Clark Kent. The film will also reunite Man of Steel stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

Director Zack Snyder commented,”Ben Affleck provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry Cavill’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”

Affleck recently starred in the Academy Award Best Picture winning Argo, which he also directed and produced. However he hasn’t had a huge amount of luck in big, tentpole movies such as The Sum Of All Fears and his last superhero adventure, Daredevil. However he’s been okay when part of an ensemble, such as in Armageddon, so perhaps he’ll be alright here.

There are already many wondering if he’s the right choice for Batman, but that’s probably how it should be, as from Michael Keaton onward there’s been a history of fans wondering whether someone was right for the role.

Man Of Steel 2 is being scripted by David S. Goyer from a story he co-created with Zack Snyder. Filming is expected to begin in 2014, with a July 17, 2015 release date already set.

New Inside Llewyn Davis Trailer – Fresh look at the Coen Brothers’ new movie

August 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

If they’d stuck to the original plan, Inside Llewyn Davis would have already been and gone from cinemas, but it was pushed back to a Christmas US release in the hope of getting some awards recognition. Now we get a new taste of the Coen Brothers’ film with a new trailer.

Oscar Isaac stars as the title character, a folk singer making his way through the Greenwich Village music scene in the 1960s. The movie is loosely based on the life of folk singer Dave Van Ronk. Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, Gerrett Hedlund, and John Goodman also star.

It certainly looks stylish, with plenty of the Coens’ trademark sharp dialogue, although it’s definitely one of their more idiosyncratic efforts. The film will be out in US on December 20th, with a January 2014 opening set for the UK. [Read more…]

Benedict Cumberbatch Out Of Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak

August 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Benedict-Cumberbatch-sherlock
When Guillermo Del Toro started casting Crimson Peak earlier this year it surprised many as the movie isn’t due to shoot until next year. While he’d signed Charlie Hunnam and Jessica Chastain, his gambit of getting actors early hasn’t completely paid off with one star, as Benedict Cumberbatch has exited the movie, according to THR.

He’s the second actor to bail, as in June Emma Stone bailed and has since been replaced by Mia Wasikowska.

Cumberbatch signed up in April, but now he’s out, with Legendary Pictures and Del Toro currently seeking a replacement for the Star Trek Into Darkness. The film is scheduled to begin production in February.

Guillermo del Toro is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Matthew Robbins and Lucinda Coxon. The project is said to revolve around a haunted house, but no specific story details have been confirmed. It’ll start shooting next February.

August 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bradley-cooper-bathtubEarlier today, rumours emerged via Latino Review that Marvel was talking to Bradley Cooper about voicing Rocket Raccoon in Guardians Of The Galaxy. That’s now been confirmed by TheWrap. An offer has apparently been made to the actor, although it’s not know how close he is to signing (Cooper would provide the voice, although someone else will do the motion capture for the CGI character).

Rocket Raccoon started out with his own comic mini-series in the mid-80s before becoming part of the Guardian Of The Galaxy. He’s a talking Raccoon who a fast-talking member of the group that has vowed to protect the universe from the bad guys. Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey have both previously been rumoured for the role, but Cooper is apparently who director James Gunn wants.

In a recent interview Gunn said, “Here’s the thing: there are a lot of people who have a lot of ideas of who is right for Rocket Raccoon. Rocket Raccoon has been slightly different over the years, in the comic books, and within my scripts he is a very, very specific guy, and I think people are going to have to wait for a few weeks before they see. We’ll have to wait for a few weeks to see. We’ll get our dream guy, because a lot of people want to do it, so we’ll get the person who’s perfect for the role.”

The film recently began shooting in the UK, with an August 1st, 2014 release date set.
