Dylan Baker & Meagan Good Join Anchorman: The Legend Continues

March 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Dylan-BakerWith shooting kicking off on Anchorman: The Legend Continues, the cast continues to grow, with Dylan Baker and Meagan Good signing on to join the comedy ensemble for this much-anticipated sequel, according to Deadline.

Meagan Good, who currently stars in the TV drama Deception, will play the new boss of the Action 4 News team, which consists of Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), Champ Kind (David Koechner), and Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd). No details have been release about Dylan Baker’s character. Christina Applegate, James Marsden, and Kristen Wiig also star.

Yesterday we reported that John C. Reilly may have signed on to the movie, based on casting notice that was asking for Reilly look-alikes. However, a studio representative shot down the rumor with the odd explanation,
“We were looking for a stand-in for lighting purposes who looks like John C. Reilly. We always demand that every stand-in looks like John C. Reilly.” He may well still be in the movie, but it seems they don’t want to announce if officially yet.

The film will follow the Action 4 News team in the late 1970s, as they deal with the sweeping changes in broadcast news brought on by the advent of the 24-hour news cycle.

Paul Bettany Finds Transcendence Opposite Johnny Depp

March 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

paul-bettanyWhile Johnny Depp has been attached to Transcendence for quite a while, he’s only now getting his first castmate – probably because it’s only in the last few days that Depp has confirmed that he will indeed star in the movie and plans to make it one of his next projects.

Now Deadline reports that Paul Bettany is in negotiations to star in the movie, which will be Oscar-winning cinematographer Wally Pfister’s directorial debut. As Wally is the man behind the camera on the likes of Inception and The Dark Knight movies, it’s sure to look great.

The screenplay, written by Jack Paglen, is still wrapped in secrecy (Pfister has obviously been taking a few tips from Chris Nolan about not telling anyone anything). However, it’s rumored that the film is about a group of scientists experimenting with the idea of the technological singularity – the moment where a computer becomes so advanced that it begins to learn on its own and no longer needs an operator. The secrecy also means we have no idea who Bettany might play.

The plan is to shoot the film this April.

March 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Mikael-HafstromEven before Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams’ novel Tunnels was published, Hollywood had snapped up the rights and was planning a film version. Tom Shadyac Eyes Untouchable Remake, With Colin Firth Circling

March 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

untouchable-slideLast year Untouchable (aka The Intouchables) became the highest grossing French movie in history, taking over $400 million around the world. It’s little wonder then that Hollywood is interested in a remake. Now Deadline reports that a perhaps surprising name is attached to direct, Tom Shadyac – best known for broad comedy hits Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty, The Nutty Professor and Ace Ventura.

Colin Firth is said to be circling a lead role, but nothing has been set in stone yet. Back in November, it was reported that Silver Linings Playbook star Chris Tucker had showed interest in the movie, but it’s not known if he’s still involved.

Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) is writing the screenplay, which follows an a very rich man who gets paralysed after a hang-gliding accident. He hires a young man with a criminal background to take care of him, forming a unique bond of friendship. The original film was one of the Best Foreign Language Film nominees at the Oscars last weekend.

Shadyac may actually be a better choice than his resume suggest, as he himself nearly died in a cycling accident. Afterwards he left the business altogether, dedicating his life to more altruistic endeavours. If he does end up making the film, it will be his first narrative feature since 2007’s Evan Almighty.

Craig Brewer To Helm The Gangster Princess Of Beverly Hills

February 28, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

craig-brewerLast summer, the Rolling Stone article The Gangster Princess of Beverly Hills became a bit of a viral sensation. Now it may be heading to the movies, with Deadline reporting that Craig Brewer (Footloose) has signed on to write and direct a film version of the article for Paramount Pictures.

The article told the incredible true story of Lisette Lee, a wealthy young woman who portrayed herself to be an actress, model, singer, and even an heir to the Samsung fortune. In reality, she was actually a drug mule who was caught smuggling 500 pounds of marijuana in June 2010, which landed her a six-year prison sentence.

However many believed she was a Paris Hilton style socialite, who was living the high life in LA.

Brewer will also write the screenplay adaptation based on Sabrina Rubin Erdley’s article.

New Iron Man 3 Poster Features An Army Of Iron People

February 28, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

iron-man-3-teaser-poster4We’ve had a slew of characters posters for Iron Man 3 in the last few weeks, although it’s this one that’s definitely that’s the most interesting. That’s not due to Tony Stark looking pretty cool in the foreground, but the army of besuited Iron people in the background.

There’s no info been released on exactly how it ends up with there being lots of Iron Men, but it definitely sounds like it could be fun.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Eccentric genius, billionaire, philanthropist Tony Stark is the armored super hero known as Iron Man. Decompressing from his heroic, near-self-sacrificial action as Iron Man that saved New York City from annihilation, Tony finds himself unable to sleep and plagued by worry and trepidation. When his world is destroyed and those closest to him threatened, Tony must find a way to save them—and in the process find himself again.’

The film’s out April 26th.
