Kathryn Bigelow’s Hurt Locker follow-up, Zero Dark Thirty, has already proven controversial due to the supposedly priviledged access President Obama gave the filmmakers to the operation to hunt down Osama Bin Laden. Now a new trailer for the movie is here. The film focuses on the black ops mission to capture or kill Osama bin Laden, which culminated in his death during a high-stakes raid on his compound in Pakistan. Kyle Chandler, Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton and Mark Strong star.

Jennifer Connelly In Talks For Akiva Goldsman’s Winter’s Tale
Jennifer Connelly’s career got a massive shot in the arm (and an Oscar) with A Beautiful Mind, which was written by Akiva Goldsman. Now Deadline reports Connelly may reteam with Goldsman for his directorial debut, Winter’s Tale.
The movie has been in development for a couple of years, but it’s now moving towards production, with Colin Farrell and Jessica Brown Findlay set to star. Based on the novel by Mark Helprin, the story is set in both the present day and the late 19th century, and centres on a thief (Farrell) who falls in love with the Irish heiress (Jessica Brown Findlay) he just robbed, right before she dies. He later learns that he possesses the gift of reincarnation, and becomes determined to save her life. Assuming she signs on, Connelly would play the role of the main woman’s mother. The rest of the cast includes William Hurt, Will Smith, Matt Bomer, Lucy Griffiths and Eva Marie Saint.
Connelly is currently working on Darren Aronofsky’s Noah, but may move onto Winter’s Tale after that.

Ben Affleck Plans Dennis Lehane Adaptation, Live By Night
Ben Affleck is certainly popular in Hollywood at the moment with the rise of his directing career, which must feel good after several years when his reputation as a major actor was on the skids. Earlier this week it was revealed he was thinking about starring in a movie called Focus, and now Deadline reports that he’s considering directing an adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s novel, Live By Night.
Affleck has already shown an affinity with Lehane’s work, launching his directing career with an adaptation of the author’s Gone Baby Gone (Lehane also wrote Mystic River and Shutter Island). The brand new book is set during the Prohibition era in Affleck’s hometown of Boston and follows Joe Coughlin, who’s desribed as ‘the black sheep son of a police captain’, as he slowly moves up the ranks of organised crime.
Warner Bros has the rights, and interestingly some of the characters in Live By Night appeared in Lehane’s previous novel, The Given Day. As the studio also has the rights to that book, there’s a chance they’re plannning linked films based on them.
James Franco, Glenn Close & Brit Marling Take The Grace That Keeps This World
The Grace That Keeps This World has lined itself up a good cast, as Deadline reports that Glenn Close, James Franco, and Brit Marling have signed on to star in director Azazel Jacobs’ (Terri) movie.
The film is about a father and his sons who are preparing for a hunting trip. However, their lives are upended when a young environmentalist cop begins investigating hunting violations, which results in secrets being revealed that may tear this family apart. At the moment no details are known for any of the actors’ characters (although who wants to bet Franco will be the environmentalist cop?).
Matthew Aldrich wrote the screenplay, adapted from the novel written by Tom Bailey. Aldrich first found success last year when a bidding war erupted for his screenplay Father Daughter Time: A Tale of Armed Robbery and Eskimo Kisses, which currently has Matt Damon and John Krasinski attached to star. At the moment it isn’t clear when The Grace That Keeps This World might shoot.
Jodie Foster To Direct Hostage Drama Money Monster
Jodie Foster is stepping behind the camera again as she is attached to direct Money Monster, according to Variety, which mixes the current interest in bringing those in financial circles to account, and a hostage drama.
Money Monster is about Lee Gates, a TV personality whose insider trading tips have made him the money guru of Wall Street. However, when Kyle, a viewer who lost all of his family’s money on a bad tip from Lee, holds Lee hostage on air, ratings soar as the entire country tunes in to this media frenzy to find out just how much a man’s life is worth.
Production is scheduled to start in early 2013, with casting due to begin immediately (it isn’t known if Foster is planning to take a role).

A Quentin Tarantino movie is bound to get people excited, and that’s certainly true of Django Unchained. Now a new trailer for the film has arrived, to get up the anticipation ahead of the January 18th UK release. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Set in the South two years before the Civil War, Django Unchained stars Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.
‘Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.
‘Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (amuel L. Jackson), Candie’s trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival.’
