Gwyneth Paltrow Goes Foodie In Blood, Bones & Butter

July 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Gwyneth Paltrow sure loves food. She’s written a cookbook and made TV series were she travels around learning about different regions’ cuisine. Now THR reports that she’s planning to star in and produce Blood, Bones & Butter, a film based on Gabrielle Hamilton’s food memoir.

The book is about Hamilton’s unconventional background, as she is the youngest of five children born to a French mother and an artist father who made the sets for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus. This eventually led her on an unusual course to becoming a chef. She is now the owner and chef of New York’s Prune restaurant also is a trained writer with an MFA from the University of Michigan.

Paltrow wants to take on this tale, with her and fellow producers currently looking for writers to take on the script.

San Andreas: 3D Gets Lost Writer Carlton Cuse

July 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A couple of months ago it was announced that Journey 2 director Brad Peyton had signed on to a movie called San Andreas: 3D, that is set to give the earthquake a big-budget, three-dimensional outing. Now the film has a new writer, as New Line Cinema has brought on Lost writer/producer Carlton Cuse to handle the script.

The film is set in California after a massive earthquake, and follows a man who must navigate the state to rescue his daughter. The film was originally written by Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore, then re-written by Allan Loeb. It’s not clear if Cuse is merely fiddling with the previous script, or if he’s starting over.

The Master Teaser Poster Debuts

July 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s been a long wait for a new Paul Thomas Anderson movie. We got There Will Be Blood in 2007, but it’s taken ages to get to the point where it’s only a few months until The Master arrives. Now a new poster for the movie has arrived, although quite what it’s got to do with the movie is anyone’s guess. It looks a bit like a wine label, but that doesn’t really seem to have much to do with a film about a drifter (Joaquin Phoenix) who ends up as the right hand man of a guy (Philip Seymour Hoffman) who’s set up his own religion/cult. Hopefully all will become clear before the film’s release on November 9th. (Image via Huffington Post)

Amy Adams Joins Renner & Cooper In American Bullsh*t

July 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Following yesterday’s news that Jeremy Renner is in talks to join Bradley Cooper in David O. Russell’s upcoming movie, American Bullshit, comes info via THR that Amy Adams has joined the cast as well.

The movie is based on the true story of a con man (Bradley Cooper) who rather unwillingly helped the FBI unravel an enormous conspiracy spanning from Philadelphia to Washington D.C. Adams is set to play Maxine Gardner, the con man’s mistress, who also helps the FBI agent (Jeremy Renner) tackle the case.

David O. Russell, who directed Amy Adams in The Fighter, is working from a screenplay by Eric Singer (The International). Filming on the movie should begin next February.

Kevin Kline Joins ‘Old Guys Hangover’ Last Vegas

July 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kevin Kline is in the process of finalising a deal to round out the main cast of the ‘old guys Hangover’, Last Vegas, alongside Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas, and Morgan Freeman, according to Deadline.

The movie is about an aging womaniser (Michael Douglas), who is the last of his friends to finally settle down and get married. Kevin Kline, Robert De Niro, and Morgan Freeman play his old buddies who reunite in Las Vegas for the wedding. There’s not too much know about Kevin Kline’s role, although one of the main planks of the story is that Robert De Niro’s character also falls for the bride, who is half their age.

Jon Turteltaub will direct this Oscar-winning quartet from a screenplay by Dan Fogelman (Crazy Stupid Love). Production is scheduled to begin this autumn in Las Vegas.

Robin Williams Joins The Butler As Dwight Eisenhower

July 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

As The Butler is about a man who served eight US Presidents, there are plenty of roles to cast of former leaders of the free world. Now the movie has got another one, as Robin Williams has signed up for gay director Lee Daniels’ film, playing Dwight Eisenhower, according to Variety.

The movie is a biopic about longtime White House butler, Eugene Allen (Forest Whitaker), began his White House employment in 1952, under President Harry S. Truman, and retired in 1986, during President Ronald Reagan’s second term in office. In that time the African American rose through the ranks and was there as the Civil Rights struggle played out in the halls of power.

Other Presidential roles include John Cusack as Richard Nixon, Liam Neeson as Lyndon B. Johnson, and Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan, with Jane Fonda playing Nancy Reagan. David Oyelowo will play the title role. Danny Strong co-wrote the screenplay with Lee Daniels, with production scheduled to start in the very near future.

Scrooge & Marley Teaser Trailer – A Christmas Carol goes gay

July 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Earlier this year we reported that gay actor David Moretti (The Lair) was set to give Dicken’s Classic A Christmas Carol a bit of a homo-tastic spin with Scrooge & Marley. Now the teaser trailer for that movie has arrived, suggesting it going to be a sexier take on the tale than we’re used to as well!

As well as Moretti, the film also features comedian Bruce Villanch, Eating Out: Drama Camp’s Ronnie Kroell, A League of Their Own’s Megan Cavanagh, and Drop Dead Diva’s Rusty Schwimmer.

However the film isn’t a done deal, as it’s currently trying to crowdsource funding for post-production work, including the recording/mastering of all the original songs that are sung in the movie. The movies trying to raise $10,000, so if you’d like to help, head over to their Indiegogo page and/or head over to the film’s official website.

If you need a bit more of a reason to donate, here’s why the team behind the film thinks Scrooge & Marley is important: ‘One of the ways we change society is through our culture, and film is a great way to tell our LGBT stories. There are very few gay holiday films, ones for the entire family and our LGBT allies, too. By showing a diversity of our lives, we help create a larger cultural acceptance.’

Scenes From A Gay Marriage Trailer & Poster

July 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s been an awful lot of you drooling over the pics we posted a few weeks ago of the incredibly hot guys from the upcoming film Scenes From A Gay Marriage, and now the trailer and poster for the movie are here, so we can get a better feel for the comedy.

The plot doesn’t so much concern marriage equality as the title (a play on Ingmar Bergman’s 1973 film) might suggest. Instead, the upcoming comedy touches on themes such as sex, love, and adultery. Writer/director Matt Riddlehoover stars as a newly single man who seeks entertainment through the sexual high jinks of his upstairs neighbors (Carson Nicely and Malachi Taylor). But when he suspects one of them is cheating, wackiness – as they say – ensues. The film, which is set in Nashville and Los Angeles, also stars Jared Allman (Sundance Channel’s Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys).

You can find out more at the film’s Facebook page.

Gorgeous New Gangster Squad Banner Debuts

July 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There are high hopes for Gangster Squad, the upcoming Ruben Fleischer movie which takes on the real-life story of LAPD’s fight to keep East Coast Mafia types out of Los Angeles in the 1940s and 50s. The film has an amazing cast, including Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Emma Stone, Nick Nolte and Anthony Mackie. The new banner above is gorgeous, recalling the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and – if he has his way – every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. Gangster Squad is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.’

The film hits UK cinemas on November 9th.

Sam Claflin & Emilia Clarke Go Into Overdrive

July 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It certainly seems to be Sam Claflin’s day, as we reported earlier that he’s landed the key role of Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and now there’s news that he and Emilia Clarke have signed up for the thriller Overdrive.

News of the project first surfaced back in October, when Karl Urban and Ben Barnes signed on as two car thief brothers, who move to the south of France to find more challenging work. Variety doesn’t say which character Sam Claflin will play, but the report doesn’t mention Ben Barnes, so it’s possible Claflin has taken over that role. Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke is playing the female lead.

Antonio Negret (Transit) is directing from a screenplay by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, with Taken director Pierre Morel producing.
