For almost a year, Kenneth Branagh has been putting together a new film version of Murder On The Orient Express, with himself in the lead role of Hercule Poirot. A few months ago he had Angelina Jolie interested in starring, but she’s since backed out.
However, he’s now got a raft of great names signing on, with the likes of Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, Judi Dench, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Michael Pena joining the movie, along with Lucy Boynton, Tom Bateman, Derek Jacobi, and Leslie Odom Jr.. It certainly suggests he wants to follow the lead of the star-studded 1974 version, which featured Lauren Bacall, Albert Finney, Sean Connery, Ingrid Bergman, John Gielgud, Vanessa Redgrave, Michael York and Jacqueline Bisset.
Christie’s novel is about a death on the world’s most famous train, when a man known as Mr. Ratchett is stabbed 12 times and killed. With a title like Hara Kiri, you know this movie is not going to be all about lightness and joy. The trailer backs that up, showing it might be a bit of a disturbing one.
This is certainly an interesting looking documentary, following a gay man who left a religious life behind, but now want to reconcile with a family that still doesn’t know how to deal with homosexuality. It’s had plenty of success at film festivals, and now we can all get a taste.
One of the more interesting LGBT films of the year is King Cobra, the James Franco produced take on an infamous real-life murder that took place in the gay porn industry. It’s been playing festivals since April, including upcoming screenings at October’s BFI London Film Festival. Now a trailer for the movie has arrived.
It looks like some sort of Will & Grace reunion is happening. Yesterday the cast posted shots on social media showing that the four main characters are back together for… something.
