Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn & Diane Keaton Reuniting For Netflix Movie Divanation

December 16, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

First-Wives-Club-slide

The wonderful Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn & Diane Keaton are getting back together on screen for the first time in 20 years, but some of you will be sad to learn it’s not for a sequel to 1996’s The First Wives Club. It also won’t be heading to cinemas, as Netflix has bought up Divanation, with the three ladies all set to star.

Deadline reports that the ladies will star, ‘as members of a once-popular singing group forced to reconnect after their volatile split and 30 year estrangement’. Unfortunately there’s no more info than that, but I think it’s safe to say that with this trio on-screen together, sparks will fly.

Netflix’s move is seen as further demonstration of it’s commitment to trying to broaden the demographic of its subscribers, as after the success of the likes of Grace & Frankie – which focussed on women in  mid-to-later life – it’s commited to Our Souls At Night with Robert Redford and Jane Fonda starring, and now Midler, Hawn & Keaton in Divanation. While Netflix has proved extremely popular with younger people, it’s only now making inroads into older generations, which it needs if it’s going to continue its impressive growth.

And if you want to see what Midler, Hawn & Keaton might be like as a girl group, take a look below:

Get A Fresh Look At The Ladies Of The Ghostbusters Reboot

December 16, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ghostbusters-reboot-pic2

2016’s planned Ghostbusters movie is bit of a hybrid, as it’s both reboot and remake but not quite either. It’s a new plot and the team looking for spooks are now ladies, but it’s aparently a different timeline so the events of the first film never took place. That may come as a bit of a surprise to some, as it’s well known the likes of Sigourney Weaver, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Pitts and even Bill Murray will be in the movie, but all apparently playing different characters.

It would suggest though that this is actually a reboot, which will explain why these people are different to the ones we knew from the original movies, and also why no one is aware ghosts exist (which is apparently why director Paul Feig didn’t want to do a simple continuation of the earlier films).

We’ve had one look at the new female crew of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, and now a new one has arrived via Planet Ghostbusters, which you can see above.

Chris Hemsworth is also onboard as the girls’ secretary, with Andy Garcia as the mayor of New York City. Expect to see more very soon, including a first trailer, which will hope to get us excited for the July 2016 release.

Kurt Russell Wanted For Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

December 16, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

kurt-russellIn Guardians of the Galaxy, there was a fair amount of talks about Star-Lord’s dad, but we never fully learned who he was. Now though we may know who’ll be play him at least, as TheWrap says Kurt Russell is the top choice to be Peter Quill’s dad in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

It’s still very early days as no offer has been made to Russell and apparently he hasn’t even seen a script, but director James Gunn wants him and it would appear Kurt is open to the idea. It certainly makes sense, considering Russell is a bit of a 70s/80s icon and Quill is slightly obessed with that era due to be kidnapped from Earth during that period.

It’s not known exactly the character Russell would play, as Gunn has said Star-Lord will have a different father in the movies than the comic books. There’s been speculation that his dad will be Thanos, which is a possibility but not all that likely (despite Bradley Cooper saying it was true before he’s even seen a script).

As well as Chris Pratt returning as Quill, the likes of Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, and Vin Diesel as Groot will also be back. It’ll be in cinemas May 2017.

Batman, Superman & Wonder Woman Get Dawn Of Justice Character Posters

December 16, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

batman-v-superman-character-postersIt feels like the summer blockbuster season is starting earlier and earlier each year. A couple of years ago a massive movie like Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice wouldn’t have arrived until May at the earliest, but instead it’s arriving in March.

That means that once Star Wars is out of the way, we’re likely to get saturation hype for the film, as Warner Bros. has a lot riding on it. This isn’t just the first time the Man Of Steel and the Caped Crusader have been in a live-action movie together, it’s going to kick-off an entire interconnected DC Comics universe, and introduce us to the likes of Aquaman, The Flash and Wonder Woman, leading up to a two part Justice League extravaganza.

Wonder Woman is expected to play a major role in Dawn Of Justice, and to underline that, Gal Gadot’r lasso wielding superhero has now got a character poster, alongside Henry Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman. You can see them below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.’ [Read more…]

Gay Short Film Showcase: Stormtroopers Get Naked & Fall In Love In Some Sexy Star Wars Related Shorts (NSFW)

December 15, 2015 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

moonr8kerYou probably haven’t heard, but there’s a movie coming out this week called Star Wars: The Force Awakens. To tie in with the debut of this tiny little arthouse flick, we thought we’d bring you some short films featuring Stormtroopers getting sexy and/or gay.

The first is the three-part Moonr8ker, which features more penis than you’ve ever seen in anything Star Wars related before. It comes from VENFIELD8, best known for their parody adverts where the theme behind many ads for luxury brands is laid bare (literally) by the inclusion of man bits. I’m sure if you want to you can find plenty of artful meaning in the shorts, but you can also find plenty of gratuitous male nudity too – oh and a sparkly Stomtrooper helmet.

Also featuring Stormtroopers but rather different in tone is the Spanish comedic short, Love Wars, in which two of the white-helmeted soldiers are in love, but mustn’t let anyone know. Somehow we’re not suprised to learn that the Empire was homophobic. The short even has a point to make about the conflict between living openly and the seeming safety of keeping gay love behind closed doors. It’s just a shame we know what happens shortly after the film ends.

Take a look at the Star Wars-themed goodness below. Beware though, the Moonr8ker shorts are very NSFW.

If you know a short film we ought to be posting, tell us by getting in touch via our contact page. And check out more gay short films and web series here. [Read more…]

Crush Of The Day: Colton Haynes Shows Off His Nipple Piercing

December 15, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

colton-haynes-nipple-slideIf there’s one actor who gives good nipple shots, it’s Colton Haynes, and it appears he’s decided to augment them with a piercing, as he’s shown in a recent instagram. Colton may not have mentioned the piercing in the caption, but we have a feeling he knew exactly what he was doing.

We’re presuming though that when he’s called on to get shirtless on screen – which is often – he’ll have to remove it. So enjoy the nipple bar shot we’ve got.

It was recently announced that Haynes is going to be returning to the world of Arrow as Roy Harper/Arsenal, with his character due to show up again in episodes to be screened next year. We also presume that he’ll be taking plenty more topless selfies, as he certainly has a penchant for them.

Take a look at his nipple piercing instagram below. And if you need to compare it to his chest before the needle got to it, click here. Personally, I just wish he’d stop shaving his chest! [Read more…]

Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them Trailer – Eddie Redmayne magics himself into the Harry Potter spin-off

December 15, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

fantastic-beasts-trailer-slideFor those who’ve been suffering major withdrawal symptoms since the last Harry Potter movie hit cinemas, hope is coming in the form of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a spin-off set in the same magical world, but several decades before Harry went to Hogwarts. David Yates is once more directing, and to show us that things are indeed the same but different, the first trailer and official poster have arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne (“The Theory of Everything”) stars in the central role of wizarding world magizoologist Newt Scamander, under the direction of David Yates, who helmed the last four “Harry Potter” blockbusters.

‘“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures.  Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

‘“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” also stars Katherine Waterston (“Steve Jobs,” “Inherent Vice”) as Tina; Tony Award winner Dan Fogler (“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”) as Jacob; Alison Sudol (“Dig,” “Transparent”) as Tina’s sister, Queenie; Ezra Miller (“Trainwreck”) as Credence; two-time Oscar nominee Samantha Morton (“In America,” “Sweet and Lowdown”) as Mary Lou; Oscar winner Jon Voight (“Coming Home,” TV’s “Ray Donovan”) as Henry Shaw, Sr.; Ron Perlman (the “Hellboy” films) as Gnarlack; Carmen Ejogo (“Selma”) as Seraphina; Jenn Murray (“Brooklyn”) as Chastity; young newcomer Faith Wood-Blagrove as Modesty; and Colin Farrell (“True Detective”) as Percival Graves.

‘The film marks the screenwriting debut of J.K. Rowling, whose beloved Harry Potter books were adapted into the top-grossing film franchise of all time.  Her script was inspired by the Hogwarts textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, written by her character Newt Scamander.’

It’s due in cinemas November 2016. [Read more…]

Eddie The Eagle Trailer – Taron Egerton & Hugh Jackman take on ski jumping

December 15, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

eddie-the-eagle-trailer-slideIf you’re British and can remember all the way back to the 80s, you’ll know who Eddie The Eagle is – a man who had a dream and made it real, even if he never had a chance of winning. Now his story has been made into a movie, with Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) as Eddie and Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) as coach Bronson Peary.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Eddie the Eagle follows the realisation of the childhood dream of Michael Edwards (a.k.a Eddie), and his unflinching determination to become Great Britain’s first Olympic ski-jumper. Reluctantly aided by former ski-jumper Bronson Peary as his coach, Eddie is unwavering in his quest to reach the 1988 Calgary Winter Games. Eddie the Eagle is an uplifting, inspirational story that celebrates human spirit, passion, and one man’s refusal to accept defeat.’

Dexter Fletcher directs the film, with Matthew Vaughn producing. It’ll be in UK cinemas next April.

Ice Age: Collision Course Trailer – Nut-obsessed Scrat goes into space

December 15, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ice-age-collision-course-trailer-slideThe Ice Age movies long ago decided that anachronisms were the future, giving us sabre-tooth cats living alongside dinosaurs, being around when th continents split apart and now, sending rodent Scrat into space. Yep, if you take a look at the trailer below, you’ll see that like Jason Vorhees before him, Scrat is becoming an unexpected astronaut.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Scrat’s epic pursuit of the elusive acorn catapults him into the universe where he accidentally sets off a series of cosmic events that transform and threaten the Ice Age World.  To save themselves, Sid, Manny, Diego, and the rest of the herd must leave their home and embark on a quest full of comedy and adventure, travelling to exotic new lands and encountering a host of colourful new characters.

‘ICE AGE: COLLISION COURSE, opening in cinemas 2016, stars returning cast members Ray Romano, Denis Leary, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Simon Pegg, Keke Palmer, Wanda Sykes, and Jennifer Lopez.

Star Trek Beyond Trailer – Chris Pine & co. return & are finally boldy going to strange new worlds

December 14, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

star-trek-beyond-trailer-slide1Although the first two rebooted Star Trek movies were a lot of fun, one thing they lacked was boldly going to explore strange new worlds and new civilisations. However, with Star Trek Beyond it’s been suggest the Enterprise will finally be embarking on their five year mission.

However, while JJ Abrams may not be directing (he is producing though), it appears they’re sticking with the secrecy that surrounded the earlier movie but telling us nothing about the plot and producing a first trailer which is pretty cool, but doesn’t tell us much about the plot.

You won’t be surprised to hear though that aliens are involved, one of them played by Idris Elba.

It also appears that new director Justin Lin is bringing a nicely retro feel, with the whole thing being oddly reminiscent of the 60s TV show, which makes sense if its taking place at the same time, even if it’s an alternate timeline. Of course it’s all a lot more high tech, but it’s still got a nice throwback feeling. You can take a look at the trailer below, and look forward to the film arriving in cinemas next July.

High Rise Teaser Trailer – Tom Hiddleston wants you to join him in a new way of living

December 14, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

high-rise-tom-hiddleston-slideThere’s been a lot of interest in Ben Wheatley’s take on JG Ballard’s dystopian tale High Rise, to the point that for some film fans, it’s the most anticipated movie of 2016. Now we can get our first taste, and there’s no doubt that it’s looking absolutely gorgeous, with Wheatley creating a mix of the 60s/70s and the future.

Many have said over the year that Ballard’s book is unfilmable, but it looks like they’re given it a damn good go, even if the reviews from film festivals have been decidedly mixed.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘High-Rise centers on a new residential tower built on the eve of Thatcher’s England, at the site of what will soon become the world’s financial hub. Designed as a luxurious solution to the problems of the city, it is a world apart.

‘Enter Robert Laing (Hiddleston), a young doctor seduced by the high-rise and its creator, the visionary architect Anthony Royal (Irons). Laing discovers a world of complex loyalties, and also strikes up a relationship with Royal’s devoted aide Charlotte (Miller).

‘But rot has set in beneath the flawless surface. Sensing discord amongst the tenants, Laing meets Wilder, a charismatic provocateur bent on inciting the situation. Wilder initiates Laing into the hidden life of the high-rise and Laing is shocked at what he sees.

‘As the residents break into tribal factions, Laing finds himself in the middle of mounting violence. Violence that he also finds emerging in himself’.

The movie hits UK cinemas next March.

Kubo & The Two Strings Trailer – Laika offers up some stop-motion fantasy

December 14, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

kubo-and-the-two-strings-teaser-poster-slideLaika has garnered a great reputation thanks to the likes of Coraline, Boxtrolls and ParaNorman. They’re sticking with stop-motion for their next movie, Kubo & The Two Strings, which has just launched its first trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Kubo and the Two Strings is an epic action-adventure set in a fantastical Japan from acclaimed animation studio LAIKA.  Clever, kindhearted Kubo (voiced by Art Parkinson of Game of Thrones) ekes out a humble living, telling stories to the people of his seaside town including Hosato (George Takei), Hashi (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa) and Kamekichi (Academy Award nominee Brenda Vaccaro).  But his relatively quiet existence is shattered when he accidentally summons a spirit from his past which storms down from the heavens to enforce an age-old vendetta.

‘Now on the run, Kubo joins forces with Monkey (Academy Award winner Charlize Theron) and Beetle (Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey), and sets out on a thrilling quest to save his family and solve the mystery of his fallen father, the greatest samurai warrior the world has ever known.  With the help of his shamisen – a magical musical instrument – Kubo must battle gods and monsters, including the vengeful Moon King (Academy Award nominee Ralph Fiennes) and the evil twin Sisters (Academy Award nominee Rooney Mara)  to unlock the secret of his legacy, reunite his family and fulfill his heroic destiny.’

The film will be in cinemas next summer.
