New Captain America: The Winter Soldier Clip Lands – Chris Evans is running and jumping all over the place

March 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

)
It’s just a couple of weeks until we’ll be able to tell whether the buzz suggesting Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the best Marvel yet is actually true, as it’s out March 26th, 2014 in the UK and a week later in the US.

Now a clip has arrived showing Steve Rogers and his shield in action as he races through buldings (and we literally mean through them) in pursuit of the titular Winter Soldier.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

‘Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is produced by Kevin Feige, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp and Hayley Atwell, with Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.’ [Read more…]

The Amazing Spider-man 2 Clips Land – Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Dane DeHaan & Jamie Foxx

March 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

amazing-spider-man-2-poster9Sony is betting big on The Amazing Spider-man 2, and with the release coming next months, they’ve released the first clips from the movie, featuring a sniper in Times Square with Spidey and Electro, Dane Dehaan & Andrew Garfield skipping rocks, and Emma Stone hiding away with Garfield.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

‘It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.’

The movie is due in UK cinemas this April, with a May 2nd US release set.

Rooney Mara Signs Up To Play Tiger Lily In Pan

March 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

rooney-maraWarner Bros. is moving fast to get Pan into production, hoping to steal a march on a rival Peter Pan prequel that’s in the works at Disney. The film has Joe Wright set to direct, Hugh Jackman up to play the villainous Blackbeard, and Garrett Hedlund as Hook, who starts off as a good guy before turning bad.

Now the first female name has signed on, with Variety reporting that Rooney Mara is set to play Tiger Lily in the movie. Many actresses were considered for the movie, such as Lupita Nyonog’o and Adele Exarchopoulos, before Mara was offered the part.

The original story ‘is set during World War II and follows an orphan named Peter who is kidnapped by pirates and brought to Neverland, where he discovers he’s destined to save the land from the pirate Blackbeard.’ It’s said to be very different to any Pan movie put on the screen before, with a multi-racial/international look.

The hope is that it can become a franchise on a par with Harry Potter and Lord Of The Rings. We’ll be able to see if it can manage that when it’s released July 17, 2015.

The search is now on to find a young person to play Peter, which will include an open casting call.

Lego Movie Sequel Gets Robot Chicken Director Chris McKay

March 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

lego-movie-character-poster3Phil Lord and Chris Miller are continuing their run of starting off successful animated franchises, before heading off and leaving the sequels to someone else. After helming Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, they left part two to Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn. Now, following the massive success of The Lego Movie, it’ll be Chris McKay taking over the directing reigns for the sequel, according to Deadline.

It’s perhaps not surprising there’s been a changeover as Miller and Lord are very busy people, and Warner wants to get going on the Lego Movie follow-up as soon as humanly possible, having already set a May 26th, 2017 release date. That may seem a long way away, but it’s actually not that long in animation terms.

Jared Stern (The Internship) and Michelle Morgan (Nancy Drew) are writing the script, and Miller and Lord will still be around as producers. Chris McKay previously directed animated TV shows such as Robot Chicken, Moral Orel and Titan Maxium.

Warner is also developing a Lego Ninjago movie, but it’s still not known when we might see that.

Domhnall Gleeson, Eddie Redmayne Or Sam Riley May Be Fantastic Four’s Doctor Doom

March 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

eddie-redmayneNow that the main characters in the planner reboot of Fantastic have been cast, attention has turned to who will be the villain. It seems like Fox wants someone from the UK or Ireland for the role of Doctor Doom, as TheWrap reports that the shortlist is down to Domhnall Gleeson (About Time), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Sam Riley (Maleficent) and Toby Kebbell (Wrath of the Titans). Jack Huston has previously been mentioned, but its not known if he is still in the race.

It seems one of them will join Michael B. Jordan as The Human Torch, Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara as The Invisible Woman and Jamie Bell as The Thing. Whoever it is will have to sign up soon, as production is due to begin this April in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The movie is currently due out June 2015.

The Robots Are As Big As The Screen In A Transformers 4 IMAX Poster

March 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

transformers-4-poster5
As you’d expect for such a massive movie, Transformers: Age Of Extinction is getting an IMAX release, and to make sure everyone knows, a poster for the IMAX version has been released. As you’d expect it’s showing just how big it’s going to be, with robots so massive they can’t even fit in the frame.

As you probably know by now, there’s a complete change of the human cast. Mark Wahlberg will play Cade, the father of Nicol Peltz’s Tessa. Jack Reynor meanwhile is Tessa’s boyfriend, Shane. Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles and Bingbing Li also star, with Michae Bay once more directing.

The movie will be out in cinemas in late June in the US and early July in the UK.

Love Bytes Gay Web Series Launches A Kickstarter To Fund Its First Full Season

March 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

love-bytes-web-seriesLast November we featured the first two pilot episodes of Love Bytes, which have gone on to have over a million views on Youtube. That’s certainly a good proof of concept and so now the people behind the show have launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund more episodes to complete the season.

$12,000 will let them make two more eps and if they can make it to $18,000 there will be three more.

Award-winning queer film-makers and sisters, Tonnette and Victoria Stanford, are the creators behind LOVE BYTES, a fresh, funny and sexy new web series that lays bare the intoxicating world of LGBT dating. Tonnette and Victoria have been collaborating on queer-themed films for over 10 years and they are dedicated to increasing the visibility of the LGBT community on screen.

This ground-breaking new comedy centres on three housemates, Jade, Stacey and Michael. They are the Neapolitan ice cream of sexuality; young, sexy and single, they search for love and excitement in Sydney’s hetero-flexible dating scene only to find humiliation and hilarious misadventure.

‘Herpes of the Lips’, the first pilot, tackles what’s become a digital and universal dilemma: fake profile pictures. The second pilot, ‘Justin Beaver’ explores what happens when a precious family heirloom gets lost in the most intimate of places.

The first two episodes were made with assistance from Metro Screen’s Breaks program and the rest of the season is written and ready to go.

If you want to help out head over to Kickstarter, and you can also find out more at the show’s official website.

Neil Patrick Harris Says Doing Hedwig ‘Brings Up A Lot Of Homophobic Insecurities Within Myself’

March 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

neil-patrick-harris-out2-slide
A lot of people are excited about the idea of Neil Patrick Harris starring in the first Broadway production of John Cameron Mitchell’s excellent LGBT-themed rock musical, Hedwig And The Angry Inch, but the actor suggests it hasn’t been plain sailing for him. Indeed it’s been a challenge in ways you might not have expected.

In the musical he plays the East German title character, who was left with an angry inch after a botched sex change operation. Hedwig then starts dating young Tommy Gnosis, who leaves her behind when he takes her music and becomes a rock star.

Talking to Out magazine, Harris says “Hedwig is bringing up a lot of super insecure things within me. I have never thought drag was intoxicating, I’ve never had a fun drunken Halloween in drag, never been in heels, really. I’ve lived my whole life being attracted by masculinity — it’s why I like guys.”

He adds, “I’m not a super effete person, and I have to turn into that, and in doing so it brings up a lot of homophobic insecurities within myself.”

Harris isn’t going to let that affect the in-your-face nature of Hedwig though, as “Part of Hedwig is Iggy Pop in all of his fucked-up glory. So I’m looking forward to squatting down in front of the first row and having people spit in my mouth. It’s that kind of show. I’m anxious, one night, to fall backwards and be led on my back by people with their hands outstretched. I don’t think that will ever happen, but that’s the vibe I’m looking for — that’s the vibe I have to embrace. I don’t fucking care — you gotta go to a nasty place.”

However while he may be dealing with some of his own insecurities, he’s largely been happy with how little most people cared when he came out, saying, “I’ve found that a lot of girls have no issue with me being gay. They still want to marry me. And I love that.”

You can read the full and very interesting interview with Neil Patrick Harris by clicking here. Take a look below for some of the great pics from the Out interview, and there are more here.

First Kiss Short Film – Strangers are brought together to make out for the very first time

March 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It seems people like to watch others kiss. Since Tatia Pilieva’s first short film, First Kiss, was uploaded to Youtube yesterday, an astonishing 10 million people have viewed it!

It’s perhaps not too surprising as it’s a surprisingly sweet yet intimate and sensual vid, made more so by the fact the first half doesn’t jump straight into the snogging. It spends some time showing us the 20 strangers who were brought together to document their first kiss on camera.

Most people seem shy and uncertain, and not just because there’s a camera there. However when the lips touch, some get really into it while others remain a touch awkward. And while the two women who’ve been paired up seem quite happy to get kissing, the two guys aren’t quite as comfortable, but do manage a quick peck.

Take a look above. [Read more…]

First Full Costume Pic Of Grant Gustin As The Flash Is Released

March 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

flash-grant-gustin2
A couple of weeks ago we got our first look at Grant Gustin as The Flash, but that was only a headshot of the actor wearing the mask. Now a new image has arrived, letting us see him from head to foot for the first time, along with a bit of lightning.

Interestingly both shots have a more straightforward comic book look than the slightly darker (and shirtless) initial Arrow promo pics, from which The Flash will spin-off.

Gustin will pop up as Barry Allen in a couple more episodes of the current season of Arrow, before donning the famed red costume in the pilot of The Flash, which is due to start airing this Autumn. He may have already had the accident that gave him powers in Arrow, but he apparently won’t get superheroic until he has his own series.

Before now Gustin was best known as Glee’s Sebastian, who tried to steal Blane from Kurt.

Game Of Thrones’ Kristian Nairn Wants To Let The World Know He’s Gay

March 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

kristian-nairnOnly few years ago any gay star who wasn’t out had to wondering when and if they might be outed against their will. Things have changed for the better on that score (in many places at least), to the point where sometime if you’d like to be out, you have to make a bit of an effort to get the info out there.

That seems true of Kristian Nairn, who plays Hodor in Game Of Thrones (and is also an established DJ), who’s let the world know he’s gay in a new interview. He also adds that he’s never been in the closet, but has had difficulty getting anyone to ask him the question.

When asked about his following in the gay bear community on a GoT fansite, he says, “Well, in all honesty, when you talk about ‘the gay community,’ you are talking about MY community, haha. I AM aware of it yeah, and I think it’s really lovely. There’s not a day that I don’t get a few messages, but 99% or more are super sweet and nothing smutty at all! Again, it’s a privilege, and I really mean that. I’ve never hidden my sexuality from anyone, my whole life in fact, and I’ve been waiting for someone to ask about it in an interview, cos it’s not something you just blurt out. I’ve tried to lead the questions a few times, to no avail!”

When the interview says most people now have enough respect not to ask the question, Nairn adds, “I had an upbringing to respect other people’s privacy, and their right to be and choose what they want, and I expect—no, demand—no less for myself. It’s a very small part of who I am on the whole, but nonetheless, in this day and age, it’s important to stand up and be counted. I have and always will stand my ground. So, yeah, people have been great on the show, but I don’t see why it would be an issue.”
