Chozen Trailer – Take a look at FX’s animated series about a gay white rapper

November 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Back in the summer it was revealed that FX had picked up an animated series about a gay white rapper. Now we get our first look at the show with a red-band trailer.

The comedy comes from the creative teams behind Eastbound & Down and Archer, and follows ‘a gay white rapper fresh out of prison with a new message and new skills, which he will use in his quest for redemption and domination’. You can certainly see what that means in the trailer.

The voice cast will include Grant Dekernion, Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live), Hannibal Buress (Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell), Michael Pena (Gangster Squad), Nick Swardson (Parks and Recreation), Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down), Kathryn Hahn (Anchorman), and Method Man (The Sitter).

Grant Dekernion will also serve as writer and executive producer, and he will also be writing and rapping the songs. Danny McBride, Jody Hill and David Gordon Green from Rough House Pictures (Eastbound & Down) are Executive Producers. Adam Reed and Matt Thompson of Floyd County Productions (Archer) are Executive Producers and their company will animate the series.

The show premieres at the end of January in the US on FX. [Read more…]

Win The Star-Studded Stuck In Love On Blu-ray!

November 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

stuck-in-love-bd-coverStuck In Love is set for release on DVD and Blu-ray on November 18th, 2013, courtesy of Koch Media, and we’ve teamed up with them for this comp, where we’re giving away three copies on Blu-ray.

William Borgens (Greg Kinnear – Little Miss Sunshine, As Good As It Gets) is an acclaimed author who hasn’t written a word since his ex-wife Erica (Jennifer Connelly – He’s Just Not That Into You, The Dilemma) left him three years ago for another man. In between spying on Erica and casual romps with his married neighbour Tricia (Kristen Bell – TV’s Veronica Mars, TV’s House Of Lies), William is dealing with the complexities of raising his teenage children Samantha (Lily Collins – The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones, Mirror Mirror) and Rusty (Nat Wolff – Admission).

Samantha is publishing her first novel and is determined to avoid love at all costs – after all, she’s seen what it has done to her parents. In between hook ups, she meets “nice guy” Lou (Logan Lerman – The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters) who will stop at nothing to win her over. A tale of family, love (lost and found), and how endings can make new beginnings, Stuck In Love proves that there are no rewrites in life, only second chances.

If you’d like to try and win one of the three copies of Stuck In Love on Blu-ray that we’ve got to give away, answer the question below and fill in your details, then press submit! The competition closes on November 27th 2013, so get answering and good luck!

New Divergent Trailer and Poster – Shailene Woodley & Theo James bid for young adult adaptation success

November 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Young adult adaptations have been very popular in Hollywood since the success of Twilight, but with the exception of Hunger Games, they’ve nearly all failed. One that many have high hopes for however is Divergent, which seems to be trying to suggest it’ll be a slightly different kind of film, with this new trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Divergent is a thrilling action-adventure set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late.’ The likes of Theo James, Kate Winslet, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, and Jai Courtney also star.

Divergent arrives in US cinemas March 21st and UK cinemas April 4 2014.

Maleficent Teaser Trailer – Angelina Jolie takes on the bad fairy

November 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

After yesterday’s poster comes three new stills and the first teaser trailer for Disney’s Maleficent, which focusses on Angelina Jolie as the wicked fairy who cursed Princess Aurora in Disney’s 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty. And it’s looking pretty cool.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Disney comes “Maleficent”—the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.’

The film will be out Spring 2014.

Russell Crowe Watches The World Flood In The First Poster For Darren Aronofsky’s Noah

November 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Noah-poster1The first trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah is expected in the next day or so, but ahead of that comes the poster, which suggests the world is not going to do very well in the movie. But then, a Noah movie without a devastating kill-everybody-in-the-world flood wouldn’t be much of a Noah movie.

The film follows Noah (Russell Crowe), who lives on a vast plain of volcanic ash in the lee of a volcanic glacier (the movie’s being shot in Iceland) and has to trek up a mountain every day to get to work. He is told by God to build an enormous vessel to house both his family and the animals of the world to preserve them from a flood that promises to wipe out a sin-filled world.

Although the plot remains the same, Aronofsky has promised a unique vision, which we’ll hopefully get a look at in the trailer, including the fact Noah’s animals will be tweaked versions that aren’t immediately recognisable. It’s currently due for release on March 28th, 2014.

Don Cheadle To Direct & Star In Miles Davis Biopic, With Ewan McGregor & Zoe Saldana Also Attached

November 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

don-cheadleThere have been various attempts at making a biopic of Miles Davis, but now one’s moving forward as Don Cheadle, Ewan McGregor, and Zoe Saldana are set to star in Kill the Trumpet Player, which is based on a few dangerous days in the life of the musician, fighter and genius, as he bursts out of his silent period and conspires with a Rolling Stone writer (McGregor) to steal back his music.

Cheadle is set to play Davis and will be pulling double-duty and he’s set to make his feature directorial debut from a script co-written with Steven Baigelman. The actor has been involved for a couple of years, but it’s only now it’s getting made. Herbie Hancock, a legend in his own right and close collaborator of Davis, will participate in the project as well.

There’s no news on who McGregor and Saldana will play.

BiFrost Picture’s Daniel Wagner commented, “Don is one of our generation’s greatest actors, and this is the role he was born to play. His take on the conventional biopic of one of music’s most celebrated icons is cinematic “jazz” and too unique to resist. It fits naturally with BiFrost’s commitment to support talent and their passion projects, so we are thrilled to work with Don on his feature directorial debut.”

Dwayne Johnson Is Not Without Hope As He Signs Up For A Survival Drama

November 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

dwayne-johnsonDwayne Johnson has done a lot of action and a bit of comedy, but it appears he wants to show off his more dramatic skills, as he’s signed on to star in the upcoming Not Without Hope, according to Variety.

The film is based on Nick Schuyler’s 2010 memoir about a boat trip that went very bad. In 2009 the former football player went on a fishing trip in the Gulf of Mexico with NFL players Marquis Cooper, Corey Smith and his best friend, Will Bleakley. Unfortunately their boat capsized, leaving them stranded for days as they battled hypothermia while they waited for rescue. Johnson will play Schuyler.

We’re assuming this won’t be your typical The Rock movie, as while he may have to fend off sharks, there aren’t many car chases and fights when you’re floating around in the ocean.

Schuyler commented, “I’m humbled that Relativity was interested in paying tribute to Marquis, Corey and Will, and I was impressed with their vision for the film and how they wanted to honour how these guys lived and loved their families, friends and teammates.”

First Look At Cameron Diaz As Miss Hannigan In Annie

November 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

annie-cameron-diaz
Annie has been filming for a while now, and while there have been a few set-pics that have been floating around, we haven’t seen much of Cameron Diaz in the movie. Now the actress herself has tweeted an image of herself all made up for the role, along with the message, ‘Her name is Ms.Hannigan. She ain’t nice and she ain’t pretty. #Annie’

Agath Hannigan runs the orphanage that house lil’ Annie at the start of the film. She’s a drunk who hates children and makes the kids’ lives hell.

The music for this new version has been updated by Will Smith and Jay-Z score, although it’s not known yet quite how contemporary the tunes will become and whether we’ll get a hip-hop version of Tomorrow. The plot remains the same though, with orphan Annie (Quvenzhané Wallis) having a hard-luck life in the foul orphanage run by Miss Hannigan (Diaz). She’s then taken in by the filthy rich Benjamin Stacks (Jamie Foxx), who initially doesn’t really want her, but soon falls for the plucky youngster’s charms.

Will Gluck is directing, with as Christmas 2014 release set.

First Pics Of Sexy Jamie Dornan For Fifty Shades Of Grey, As The Film’s Release Gets Delayed

November 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

fifty-shades-ew-pic1A few hours ago it was announced that Universal has decided to delay the release of Fifty Shades Of Grey, and around the same time the first pics of Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson that were taken for the movie arrived, via EW.

The movie was due for release August 2014, however Universal has now announced it’ll be coming February 13th, 2015 instead – it’ll certainly make a different sort of Valentine’s movie. The reason for the delay is due to the ever shrinking production schedule. Things were already tight before Charlie Hunnam left the lead role of Christian Grey, causing a rush to find a replacement. That meant a delay in the shoot, and even less time to get it ready.

It also moves Fifty Shades away from the heavy competition of Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy and the 2014 Soccer World Cup. Instead it’ll get a prime President’s Day weekend debut in the US.

The new pics are pretty nice too, although there’s little hint of the BDSM the book is famous for.

Harry Potter Producer David Heyman Up For Temple Run Adaptation

November 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

David-HeymanThere seems to have been a big increase in interest in videogame adaptations in Hollywood in the last 12 months, despite the fact few of them have ever found success at the box office. Now another one is the works, Temple Run, and it’s got Harry Potter’s David Heyman attached to produce, according to Variety.

The game is, about a player who gets chased by ‘demonic monkeys after stealing an idol from a temple.’ Although that doesn’t immediately sound made for cinema, Warner Bros. obviously sees brand recognition possibility, as the mobile game has been downloaded over 100 million times and has spawned successful merchandise such as physical board games and strategy guides.

Now writer or director is attached as yet.

Snow White and the Huntsman Director Rupert Sanders Takes on Napoleon

Rupert Sanders

Rupert Sanders had a big success with Snow White And The Huntsman, but his rise was dented when it was revealed the married director was having an affair with Kristen Stewart. However it hasn’t ruined his career completely, as Warner Bros. has hired Sanders to direct an upcoming biopic about Napoleon, according to THR.

The film will apparently be ‘a Scarface-like look’ at Napoleon Bonaparte, the French military and political leader who rose to prominence during the latter stages of the French Revolution, rising to power and getting involved in all manner of wars as he tried to expand the French Empire (and he even made himself Emperor so he could properly rule over it).

The Killing scribe Jeremy Doner is writing the script. There’s no news on when it might shoot.

Guys Strip Down To Their Underwear For A Murder Mystery In Behind-The-Scenes Pics From The Gay-Themed Out To Kill

November 12, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

out-to-kill-underwear-pic2-slide
Rob Williams has brought us the likes of Make The Yuletide Gay, Role/Play and The Men Next Door, but for his seventh directorial outing he’s bringing us a gay-themed murder mystery called Out To Kill.

And it look like it’s gonna be a bit sexy, as we’ve been sent a couple of behind-the-scenes pics showing three of the film’s stars having fun in just their underwear.

Out To Kill’ is an intricate and witty “whodunit” murder mystery centered around a group of gay men living in a Florida loft complex. When one of their own is found dead in the building’s central courtyard, his neighbors enlist the help of Jim Noble, the resident private eye, to track down the killer. With its surprise ending and tropical location, the film offers a sexy, gay twist to the traditional murder mystery.’

The film’s been shooting in Tampa, Florida, and should be ready to screen next year.

Take a look at the pics below. [Read more…]
