Alexander Skarsgard Goes Full Frontal In True Blood Finale (NSFW)

August 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

alexander-skarsgard05
In interviews Alexander Skarsgard often seems to feel he doesn’t get enough opportunities to get little Alex out, but they gave him the opportunity in the finale of this season’s True Blood, which has set the internet almost as ablaze as the actor’s character is.

Skarsgard’s vampire Eric is out enjoying the sun, having taken a potion that allows him out in the daylight. However when it wears off, it’s bad news for Eric but good news for fans of full frontal nudity.

Fans are being left in the dark about Eric’s face and whether his penis will be the last we see of him. [Read more…]

J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Teases Mystery New Project, ‘Stranger’, & It’s Pretty Creepy

August 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

J.J. Abrams’ love keeping secrets, and now he’s attempting to outdo himself, as his company, Bad Robot has released a teaser trailer under the title ‘Stranger’, but they haven’t said what it is, or even whether it relates to a film, TV series, something online or indeed something else entirely.

It’s pretty weird and creepy though!

At the moment there’s plenty of speculation but nothing particularly convincing, especially as it doesn’t seem to easily fit with anything Bad Robot is known to be producing. Hopefully all will be revealed soon. [Read more…]

Wanted’s Timur Bekmambetov Up To Direct Ben-Hur Remake

August 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

timur-bekmambetovAfter the success of The Hobbit and Skyfall, the newly flush MGM started thinking about making a new version of Ben-Hur, snapping up a new spec script based on Lew Wallace’s classic novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ by Lew Wallace. Now they’re moving forward with the idea, as Deadline reports that Wanted and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter helmer Timur Bekmambetow is in talks to direct.

Early reports about the new script, by Keith R. Clarke (The Way Back), said it was very different to the Oscar-winning 1959 Charlton Heston-starrer and more faithful to the book. William Wyler’s film focused on the feud between Judah Ben-Hur (Charlton Heston) and Messalla (Stephen Boyd), but this new film will apparently explore the characters’ formative years, when they grew up as best friends before the Roman Empire conquered Jerusalem.

The script also features Jesus Christ, who encounters Ben-Hur and whose tale is told in parallel to the title character. Ben-Hur begins to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, before he is killed by Pontius Pilate.

It’s something very different to what Bekmambetov has made before, but he could certainly bring some style to the movie.

New Pics From Amazing Spider-man Debut, Including A Hint At The Sinister Six

August 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

amazing-spider-man-2-preview-pic13
For the last few months there have been rumours that Sony’s plans for The Amazing Spider-man 2, 3 & 4 are designed to lead to the formation of the villainous Sinister Six, although there’s been no confirmation that this selection of bad guys will show up on screen.

However now we’ve got out biggest hint yet that this is what will happen, with an image of producer Avi Arad sat underneath a soundstage with the name ‘Sinister 6’ written on it. Although it’s unlikely to be a stage shooting Amazing Spider-man 2, it’s certainly not a coincidence.

It’s one of six new images from the movie, which arrived via Coming Soon, which also includes a fresh look at Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Stan Lee showing up for him cameo and Dane DeHaan on camera duty. The Amazing Spider-man 2 is out May 2014.

The Butler Tops The US Box Office, With Kick-Ass 2 Faltering

August 18, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

butler-poster1Going into the weekend, most box office watchers were predicting that Kick-Ass 2 would win the weekend, with Lee Daniels’ The Butler coming second. In the end The Butler did better than expected and took the top spot, with Kick-Ass 2 faltering and only managing fourth place on the chart.

The Butler took $25 million to take the top spot, about on par with The Help, which opened August 2011. It did a lot better than expected, with Hollywood once more underestimating the African American audience, who turned out in large numbers to support the civil rights themed movie. With good word of mouth building, some are saying it could end up taking $100 million.

Kick-Ass 2 ended up fourth with a comparatively dismal $13.5 million, about half what some had expected and six million below the first film’s opening weekend take. However the Kick-Ass only really became a hit on DVD, so the sequel will now have to hope it can do the same.

The only other new movie in the top 10 is Jobs, which took $6.7 million. It’s not a great start but about in line with expectations. It seems that mixed reviews didn’t help a movie that never managed to really sell why you should want to see a film about Steve Jobs.

At least it did better than Paranoia, as despite the presence of Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman and Liam Hemsworth, it only took $3.5 million for a 13th place finish. Many expect it to become the lowest grossing movie Ford’s ever starred in.

Take a look below for the US box office top 10 for the weekend of August 16th-18th.

Rank Title Weekend Gross (millions) Total Gross to date (millions)
1 Lee Daniels’ The Butler $25.0 $25.0
2 We’re The Millers $17,7 $69.5
3 Elysium $13.6 $55.9
4 Kick-Ass 2 $13.5 $13.5
5 Planes $13.1 $45.0
6 Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters $8.3 $38.9
7 Jobs $6.7 $6.7
8 2 Guns $5.5 $59.2
9 The Smurfs 2 $4.6 $56.9
10 The Wolverine $4.4 $120.4

Crush Of The Day: Xavier Samuel & James Frecheville Shirtless In Adore

August 18, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

adore-pic1-slide
What if you and you best friend started dating each other’s mums? Yep, I’m betting you’re thinking that’s not a good idea (particularly because if you’re a typical BGPS reader you’re a gay man – oh, and the mum thing of course). However that’s the basic idea behind Adore.

Now some new pics from the film have been revealed that focus of the movie’s young men, Xavier Samuel & James Frecheville, and getting their shirts off.

Based on Doris Lessing’s novel, Lil (Naomi Watts) and Roz (Robin Wright) are two lifelong friends. Their young adult sons (Frecheville, Samuel) have also developed a friendship as strong as the one between their mothers. One summer, all four are confronted by simmering emotions that have been mounting between them, and each find unexpected happiness in relationships that cross the bounds of convention.

The film is out September 6th in the US. [Read more…]

Weekend & Downton’s Tom Cullen Gets Sexy On The Cover Of Attitude

August 17, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tom-cullen-attitude-cover
Tom Cullen got a lot of fans thanks to his starring role in the LGBT hit Weekend, and now he’s going to get a lot more as he’s joined the cast of Downton Abbey. He’s playing Lord Gillingham, who is rumoured to be the new love interest of the widowed Lady Mary.

Ahead of his debut in the show, he’s become the latest cover star for gay mag Attitude, who took a very sexy shot of the 28-year-old to splash on the front, which you can see above.

They also chatted with the actor, who talked about how great it was to work with legends such as Maggie Smith and Shirley Maclaine. He says, “It’s kind of surreal, though, being in a room with Maggie Smith and Shirley MacLaine. I’m like, ‘What the hell is going on?’

“The thing about Maggie is, because she’s been doing this for so long, she knows how to get the best out of a scene and she doesn’t take any bull****.

“At the same time, she’s just the most humble woman and she’s so, so funny. Honestly, Maggie makes me wee out of my eyes!”

New Pics From James Franco’s Biopic Of Gay Star Sal Mineo

August 17, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sal-james-franco-pic1
It’s been two years since James Franco’s made Sal, shooting it in a ridiculously quick nine days, but it’s been on the shelf since then. However it’s finally heading to US cinemas in November, and The Advocate and Queerty have gotten hold of some images from the movie and the set, which you can see above and below.

Mineo is famed for his roles in the likes of Rebel Without A Cause, Giant and The Longest Day, and while he did have some relationships with women, in the late 60s he became one of the first Hollywood actors to ever acknowledge he was gay. Tragically in 1976, while he was living in San Francisco playing a bisexual burglar in the stage comedy, P.S. Your Cat Is Dead, he was murdered in what is believed to be a robbery gone wrong (reports Mineo was trying to solicit his killer for sex are unfounded).

Not too much is known about the movie, although it’s believed to concentrate on the last days of Sal’s life. Val Lauren plays Mineo, with Franco taking a supporting role as Milton Kaselas, the director of the play Sal was starring in before he died. And from the evidence of these images, it appears Mineo does a lot of working out in the film.

Take a look at the pics below. [Read more…]

A.C.O.D. Trailer – Adam Scott tries to deal with his parents’ divorce all over again

August 17, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s a sense that Hollywood thinks it’s only a matter of time until Parks and Recreation star Adam Scott breaks it big in the movies, and with some great notices from festival screenings, perhaps A.C.O.D. is the film to do it.

He plays Carter, a seemingly well-adjusted Adult Child of Divorce (the A.C.O.D. of the title). Having survived the madness of his parents’ divorce, Carter now has a successful career and supportive girlfriend. But when his younger brother gets engaged, Carter is forced to reunite his bitterly divorced parents and their new spouses for the wedding, causing the chaos of his childhood to return, including his wacky therapist.

The great cast also includes Richard Jenkins, Catherine O’Hara, Amy Poehler, Clark Duke, Jessica Alba, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jane Lynch. It’ll be out later this year.

Shailene Woodley & Ansel Elgort Get Educated In A New Divergent Image

August 17, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

divergent-pic8
Summit is hoping that Divergent will be its young adult replacement for the Twilight franchise, and as they did with their earlier hit, they’re started the promotion early in the hope of getting fans of the novels excited. We’ve already had a few pics from the film, and now another one has shown up – although I’m hoping the whole movie isn’t quite as beige as this.

Neil Burger is directing the adaptation of Veronica Roth’s best-selling novel, which takes place in a dystopian future made up of five factions that are based on different personality types. As they come of age, everyone must join the faction they fit into, but certain people are ‘divergents’, showing traits from more than one group. Tris (Shailene Woodley) uncovers that these people are seen as dangerous and the government wants to get rid of them.

The other person in the pic is Ansel Elgort, who plays Tris brother, Caleb Prior. They both become part of the both part of the Abnegation faction, and this appears to be part of their selection of training.

The likes of Theo James, Kate Winslet, Miles Teller, Ashley Judd and Maggie Q co-star. It’ll be out next March.
