Ryan Reynolds Sought For Highlander Reboot

May 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It seems that if Lionsgate gets its way, they’ve found their star the planned reboot of Highlander, as Variety reports that they want Ryan Reynolds for the film and everyone involved is trying to make it happen.

It is unclear at this time if an actual offer has been made, but the actor is reportedly in talks for this Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directed fantasy adventure that follows an immortal Scottish swordsman who must sever the head of a brutal barbarian in order to become the last of his kind.

At the moment it is just one of many projects the actor is currently considering, but both sides are trying to pull things together.

Homophobia – Powerful Austrian LGBT themed short film

May 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Released on Youtube yesterday to mark the International Day Against Homophobia & Transphobia (IDAHO), Homophobia follows a young soldier who faces torment and bullying due to his sexuality. Then, while patrolling the Austrian-Hungarian border, whose feeling for one of his comrades start to come to the surface.

“Laws can prevent people from doing crimes, but they don’t change people’s thinking. Art can touch people on an emotional level and really make an impact”, says director Gregor Schmidinger. “People often connect homophobia with hate, but it’s really about fear. It’s the fear of the unknown—and sometimes of the unknown within ourselves.”

The short is interesting for highlighting how the mental fear instilled into victims of homophobia can be as as bad as the actual bullying itself. It also suggests internalised homophobia is just as difficult. It might take this to extremes towards the end, but the short is still well worth watching. (Thanks to Queerty for the heads up)

Crush Of The Day: Secret Circle’s Chris Zylka

Chris Zylka in The Secret Circle

Chris Zylka in The Secret Circle

Poor old Chris Zylka, he’s out of a job! Last week his TV show, The Secret Circle got canceled, but at least he had a new movie in cinemas, Piranha 3DD. As a result he’s just going to have to console himself by looking in the mirror and appreciating his own hotness. Indeed, Zylka doesn’t strike me as a guy who’s in denial about his own attractiveness or what a good bod he’s got, as he can barely step in front of a camera with his shirt on.

As well as Secret Circle, he’s been seen in Shark Night 3D (where he got his ass out), Kaboom (where he got his cock out) and as mentioned Piranha 3DD. Next up for him is The Amazing Spider-man, where he’ll play school jock and future astronaut Flash Thompson, a role which could potentially get bigger in the already planned sequels.

However for now we can wallow in the many great pics of the blond hottie in various states of undress, including one below where he even gives his butt cheeks a flex! Click on any of the pics to enlarge. Oh, and yes, in the pic above (from the bizarre but very gay Kaboom), he is indeed supposed to be tenting that sheet with a bit of morning excitement. New Magic Mike UK Trailer – Fresh look at the star-filled male stripper flick

May 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We’ll be the first to admit we’ve become a bit obsessed with Magic Mike here at BGPS, but there’s been a lot of interest in Magic Mike, and not just for the prurient voyeurism of seeing the likes of Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello and Alex Pettyfer playing stripper. it’s also because it’s a rare case of Hollywood looking at men as sexual objects in a way that’s normally reserved for women. But let’s not get too sociological, as the intrigue is mainly about seeing actors gets their stripper on.

Here’s the synopsis, ‘To a rebellious 19-year-old kid (Pettyfer) looking for independence from his family, Magic Mike (Tatum) seems like the perfect role model: he’s got a nice car, a nice apartment, and a seemingly endless supply of women. What’s his secret? He’s a male stripper, and when the kid dives headlong into Magic Mike’s world, his mad dancing skills and hunger for excitement make for an unforgettable summer…Sexy, funny and shocking, this film is a hedonistic thrill ride with a powerful undertow. A razor sharp cast – led by top liner Channing Tatum in a career-defining turn as the titular Magic Mike devours the up-to-the moment freight train of a script, and the result will be relentlessly entertaining and sure to be one of the most talked about films of the year…… and let’s not forget the price-of-admission dancing sequences…’ It hits UK cinemas on July 13th.

The Words Trailer – Bradley Cooper steals someone’s life for a book

May 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Words premiered at Sundance, but it’s only now we’re getting the first trailer, ahead on a release this autumn. The romantic drama follows writer Rory Jansen who finally achieves long sought after literary success after publishing the next great American novel. There’s only one catch – he didn’t write it. As the past comes back to haunt him and his literary star continues to rise, Jansen is forced to confront the steep price that must be paid for stealing another man’s work, and for placing ambition and success above life’s most fundamental three words.

New Prometheus Poster Gets Explosive

May 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s just a couple weeks until Prometheus hits, and a rather explosive new international poster has debuted, which is rather cool. It’s also nicely unusual in putting female characters front and centre in a sci-fi flick. The film hits the UK on June 1st.

Cate Blanchett & Mia Wasikowska On For Lesbian Themed Carol

May 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Cate Blanchett must like novelist Patricia Highsmith, as she’s already starred in an adaptation of the author’s The Talented Mr. Ripley and now she’s taking on another of her books, as she and Mia Wasikowska are set to star in a new take Highsmith’s novel Carol (aka The Price of Salt).

Directed by BAFTA winning John Crowley (Intermission, Boy A), with Lesbian playwright Phyllis Nagy (Mrs Harris) on scripting duties, Carol is a love story about pursuit, betrayal and passion that follows the burgeoning relationship between two very different women in 1950s New York. One, a girl in her 20s working in a department store who dreams of a more fulfilling life, and the other, a wife trapped in a loveless, moneyed marriage desperate to break free but fearful of losing her daughter in the process. When the book was published in 1952 it was one of the first to show lesbian relationships as more than just short-term flings, and something that can engender deep feelings.

The film is currently looking for international sales at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, with filming set to start in February 2013 in London and New York.

Producer Elizabeth Karlsen and Stephen Woolley commented, “We are thrilled to be working with Cate Blanchett and Mia Wasikowska, two of the most talented actors working today, in this striking adaptation of one of the 20th century’s most iconic writers, Patricia Highsmith. To be re-united with highly talented individuals, director John Crowley and writer Phylis Nagy is a testament to the quality of the project. We are delighted to have such a gifted team on board.”

Cage And Rourke Going To Marble City (And Mickey’s back for Sin City 2)

May 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Mickey Rourke has a lot to thank Sin City for, as it massively reinvigorated his career. However until now we haven’t known whether he’d be back as Marv in the upcoming sequel, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. However The Playlist confirms that not only will Rourke be back, but Jessica Alba will return for the film too. It starts shooting soon, with an October 2013 release now set – and it’ll be in 3D too!

It’s not the only Rourke news, as Coming Soon reports that he’s also signed up for Marble City, as has Nicolas Cage. Marble City has been doing the rounds in Hollywood for quite a few years now, but it finally looks like it’s moving forward, with Azumi and Midnight Meat Train director Ryuhei Kitamura helming.

Apparently, ‘Marble City takes us on a journey of a newly released prisoner who seeks revenge on those that put him inside. It is the story of a man who finds his inner peace through vengeance.’

Producer Jeremy Wall says, “The film is a high action and close combat fighting picture. We will bring a dynamic flair to the screen with this director and story. We are delighted to be attracting the highest caliber of actor in the business to work with us in this venture, namely Oscar winning actor Nicolas Cage and Oscar winning actor Mickey Rourke. let the battle begin.” Umm, we know a producer’s job is to big up a project, but giving Mickey Rourke an Oscar he hasn’t won is going a bit far.

The ‘Kill Bill meets Drive’ movie starts shooting in August.
