Terminator Genisys Teaser Trailer – Everything old is new again even if Arnie is back

December 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

terminator-genisys-poster1Here’s a trailer that’s likely to divide fans. It’s set up to deliberately remind us of the early days of the Terminator franchise with an odd sense of nostalgia, but about halfway through it essentially says everything we saw before never happened and that it’s all been reset.

It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it leaves a lot of question marks over the movie.

A previous reported (much of which is confirmed by the trailer) the film ‘is set in 2029, when the Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. John Connor (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Jason Clarke) is the leader of the resistance, and Kyle Reese (Divergent‘s Jai Courtney) is his loyal soldier, raised in the ruins of post apocalyptic California. As in the original film, Connor sends Reese back to 1984 to save Connor’s mother, Sarah (Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator programmed to kill her so that she won’t ever give birth to John. But what Reese finds on the other side is nothing like he expected.’

Although that sounds pretty much like the original, things have changed as in this version Sarah Connor ‘was orphaned by a Terminator at age 9. Since then, she’s been raised by (brace yourself) Schwarzenegger’s Terminator—an older T-800 she calls “Pops”—who is programmed to guard rather than to kill. As a result, Sarah is a highly trained antisocial recluse who’s great with a sniper rifle but not so skilled at the nuances of human emotion.’

The movie is due out July 2015. [Read more…]

First Look At Jai Courtney, Matt Smith & Emilia Clarke In Terminator: Genisys

October 29, 2014 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

terminator-genisys-ew-cover1Next year Terminator: Genisys is hoping to be one of the year’s big blockbusters, rebooting and renovating the franchise with the hope that more sequels will flow in the coming years. There’s already controversy though, with reports the movie will use time travel trickery to allow the series to completely start over (Star Trek style).

And now we get to take out first look with the new Entertainment Weekly covers above and below.

EW also adds some more plot info, saying the film, ‘is set in 2029, when the Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. John Connor (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Jason Clarke) is the leader of the resistance, and Kyle Reese (Divergent‘s Jai Courtney) is his loyal soldier, raised in the ruins of post apocalyptic California. It’s Me Before You For Emilia Clarke & Sam Claflin

September 2, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sam-claflinAfter the success of The Fault In Out Stars and decent business for If I Stay, it’s not too surprising that Hollywood is looking around for other tearjerking novels they can cast pretty young people in and then make them go through romantic trials and tribulations.

Now MGM is lining one up, based on Jojo Moyes novel Me Before, with Variety reporting that they’ve signed Hunger Games’ Sam Claflin and Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke to star.

The book revolves around a young woman at a crossroads in her life, who’s feeling stuck in a rut and unsure of her feelings for her boyfriend. However he life begins to change when she starts to care for a recently paralysed young man, with the connection changing both their lives.

Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber are set to write the script, with Thea Sharrock directing. There’s no news on when it will shoot.

Starring: Jude Law, Richard E Grant, Demian Bichir, Kerry Condon, Emilia Clarke
Director: Richard Shepard
Running Time: 90 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: March 31st 2014

How you react to Dom Hemingway is completely reliant of how you react to the title character. It’s easy to imagine that some will quickly be on his side, seeing him as a funny and entertaining wide-boy, but there will be plenty of others who will never be able get past the fact Dom is often a complete asshole.  It essentially depends on if you find the fact Dom thinks he’s a legend but is actually a mess is oddly charming and empathetic, or whether it just makes him a dick. John Boyega May Have A Choice Between Terminator: Genesis & Star Wars

March 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

John-BoyegaJohn Boyega is having quite a year. The Attack The Block star is rumoured to be in contention for a major role in the new Star Wars movie, and now there’s talk that he’s being looked at for Terminator: Genesis.

THR’s Boris Kit tweeted, ‘Tidbit: John Boyega (Attack the Block) tested for #StarWars but he is also wanted for #Terminator : Genesis. The role: son of Miles Dyson.’

‘Joe Morton played Dyson, exec at Cyberdyne. If u recall, Terminator pays a visit to Dyson’s house, son is there.’

‘He [Boyega] can’t do both. He has to wait out the Star Wars game.’

If he is offered both roles, it would be one hell of a choice for the young Brit. And he certain can’t do both, as Terminator: Genesis starts shooting next month, while Star Wars: Episode VII begins production this May.

In T2 Miles Dyson is the Cyberdyne engineer who is primarily responsible for the creation of Skynet. His young son Danny was featured in a scene where the Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger), Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and John Connor (Edward Furlong) visi the Dyson home. The character was also played by Phil Morris in the Fox TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. It’s not known how he might fit into Genesis.

Emilia Clarke Joins Terminator: Genesis As Sarah Connor

December 14, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Emilia-ClarkeA few days ago it was revealed that Jason Clarke is in talks to play John Connor in Terminator: Genesis. Now it’s been revealed that the film has found his mother in the form of Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke (and yes, she is 20 years younger than her on-screen son), according Deadline.

Clarke beat out Brie Larson, who was the other top contender for the role. No story details have been revealed yet, although there’s certainly going to have to be some time-travelling involved, with the suggestion the movie will involve Sarah at a time shortly before the first of the Terminator movies, and that this time she may be travelling to the future to meet her son in the form of Jason Clarke.

The movie is also seeking an actor to play Kyle Reese, John Connor’s father, who was portrayed by Michael Biehn in The Terminator.

Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) is directing from a screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier. It isn’t known when filming will begin.

Demian Bichir And Emilia Clarke Join Don Hemingway

October 5, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke is having a busy week, as she’s in the running for the female lead in Captain America 2 and has also just signed on to star in Don Hemingway. Deadline reports that Clarke & Savages star Demian Bechir have signed up to appear alongside Jude Law and Richard E. Grant in the movie.

Dom Hemingway will follow the titular character (Law), a larger than life safecracker with a loose fuse who is also funny, profane and dangerous. Freshly released from prison, he’s looking to collect on what he thinks he’s owed thanks to him keeping quiet about what he knew on his last job. Bichir will play a crime boss who’s based in the south of France, who Law’s character goes to visit. It isn’t clear who Clarke will play, although every movie needs a love interest (well, they don’t, but people insist on having one anyway), so we wouldn’t be surprised if that’s her role.

Richard Shepard (The Hunting Party, The Matador) will direct, who’s previously worked with Emilia on Game Of Thrones.

Emilia Clarke & Jessica Brown Findlay Eyed For Captain America 2

October 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Once production wraps on Thor 2 and Iron Man 3, they’re quickly moving on to Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Before then they need to get the new cast members sorted. Marvel and directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo are currently eyeing their leading lady, with Deadline reporting numerous actresses are testing for the role.

On the shortlist is Emilia Clarke (who’s worked with the Russos on Game of Thrones), Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), Imogen Poots (Fright Night) and Alison Brie (Community). The character they would be playing has not been announced, but it will be a modern day love interest for Steve Rogers. Some suggest the female lead will be somehow related to Peggy Carter, and it’s interesting that as with Hayley Atwell in the first film, they’re mainly looking at English actresses for the part.

It is also being reported that Scarlett Johansson will be making a cameo as Black Widow in the movie, ensuring the continuation of the broad Marvel Universe. Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be released April 4th, 2014.

Sam Claflin & Emilia Clarke Go Into Overdrive

July 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It certainly seems to be Sam Claflin’s day, as we reported earlier that he’s landed the key role of Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and now there’s news that he and Emilia Clarke have signed up for the thriller Overdrive.

News of the project first surfaced back in October, when Karl Urban and Ben Barnes signed on as two car thief brothers, who move to the south of France to find more challenging work. Variety doesn’t say which character Sam Claflin will play, but the report doesn’t mention Ben Barnes, so it’s possible Claflin has taken over that role. Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke is playing the female lead.

Antonio Negret (Transit) is directing from a screenplay by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, with Taken director Pierre Morel producing.
