Starring: Emily Blunt, Ewan McGregor, Amr Waked, Kristin Scott Thomas
Director: Lasse Hallstrom
Running Time: 106 mins
Certificate: 12A
Release Date: April 20th, 2012

Dr. Alfred Jones (Ewan McGregor) is a buttoned down man living a buttoned down life. He works as a scientist at the Department Of Agriculture & Fisheries, working on projects that will only be of interest to a tiny few fishermen and wishes nothing more than to be left alone to get on with his studies. Outside his job his marriage is stuck in a rut, where it feels like things have reached an end, but nobody wants to say it.

Things begin to chance when he’s forced to go to a meeting with Harriet (Emily Blunt), who looks after the UK holdings of a ridiculously wealthy sheikh (Amr Waked). The sheikh has a dream – to bring salmon fishing to the Yemen. Without spending any time thinking about it, Fred brands the project ludicrous and decides the sort of person who’d want to do must be incredibly selfish, putting their passions ahead of their people. Looper Trailer – Joseph Gordon-Levitt needs to kill his future self!

April 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I think it’s fair to say the quandary Joseph Gordon-Levitt faces in Looper is one few people have had to deal with – what if you job was to kill people sent to you from the future (so there’s no evidence of the crime), but you’re suddenly sent your own future self (Bruce Sillis) to murder? Hmm, toughy. That’s the basic set-up of Looper, which promises to be a truly intriguing pic, reteaming Gordon-Levitt with Brick helmer Rian Johnson. After a few days of teases, the trailer is finally here! The film’s due in cinemas on September 28th.

Salmon Fishing In The Yemen Trailer – Ewan McGregor brings fish to the desert

December 19, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

This one is likely to be making an Oscar run in 2014, but the first trailer is here nevertheless, despite not being released until next September. Based on the bestselling novel, a visionary sheik (Amr Waked) has a big dream – to bring salmon fishing to the desert. Willing to spare no expense, he instructs his representative (Emily Blunt) to turn his dream into reality, an extraordinary feat that will require the involvement of Britain’s leading fisheries expert (Ewan McGregor), who happens to think the project both absurd and unachievable. That is, until the Prime Minister’s overzealous press secretary (Kristin Scott Thomas) latches on for its potential as a ‘good will’ story. Now, this unlikely team will put it all on the line and embark on an upstream journey of faith and fish to prove the impossible, possible. Lasse Halstrom (Chocolat) directs.

The Five-Year Engagement Trailer

December 8, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The stereotype is women trying to strong-arm men into marriage, but The Five-Tear Engagement sees things from the other side, with Jason Segel being forced to delay marrying Emily Blunt so she can get on with her career. Here’s the synopsis: ‘The director and writer/star of Forgetting Sarah Marshall reteam for the irreverent comedy The Five-Year Engagement. Beginning where most romantic comedies end, the new film from director Nicholas Stoller, producer Judd Apatow and Rodney Rothman looks at what happens when an engaged couple, Jason Segel and Emily Blunt, keeps getting tripped up on the long walk down the aisle.’ It’s due in UK cinemas April 27th.

Anne Heche Joins Arthur Newman, Golf Pro

October 22, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Anne Heche may still have a reputation for being slightly insane, but she seems to have calmed down a lot since the post-Ellen Degeneres split-up period. Indeed with roles in the likes of Cedar Rapids, Rampart, That’s What She Said and TV’s Hung, she’s been in the spotlight more than she has at any time since the late 90s.

Now she’s got another role, as Variety reports she’s set to join Colin Firth and Emily Blunt in the dark comedy, Arthur Newman, Golf Pro. Firth stars as a man who hates his job and is despised by his family. Feeling he missed his shot at living the dream, he decides to fake his own death and create a new identity. He meets a young woman (Emily Blunt) with her own troubled past, and the duo start breaking into empty homes to pose as the absent owners. Heche will play Colin Firth’s girlfriend, who treats him terribly.

Arthur Newman, Golf Pro will begin production this month in North Carolina, with commercials helmer Dante Ariola directing from a script by Becky Johnston.
