Amazing Spider-man 2 Gets An Official Synopsis As Shooting Begins

February 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Amazing Spider-manIt’s official, shooting is underway on The Amazing Spider-man 2, and to mark that an official synopsis has been released, along with the news Colm Feore has joined the cast. There’s also the mysterious image below, which teases some sort of new Oscorp technology.

So first up the synopsis: ‘In ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2,’ for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough.

‘Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.’

Paul Giamatti’s involvement has also been confirmed, although there’s no official word on whether he’ll be playing the Rhino as rumoured. And while we know Colm Feore will be in the film, there’s no news on who he’ll play.

The pic below was tweeted by director Marc Webb, but he’s given little clue as to what it might mean.

You can see the cute cover, featuring Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper & Emma Stone above, and we’ve got a selection of the other images, which were featured on the Vanity Fair website, below. This year’s portfolio is subtitled, “Bruce Weber’s Adventures in Hollywood,” an ode to the city’s warmer side.

Charlie Hunnam May Reunite With Guillermo Del Toro For Crimson Peak

January 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Charlie-HunnamGuillermo Del Toro must be impressed with Charlie Hunnam’s work on the upcoming Pacific Rim, as he’s already hoping to reunite with the British Son Of Anarchy actor for his next movie, Crimson Peak, according to Variety.

A few days ago it was revealed that Emma Stone is in early talks to star, although neither acting has signed on the dotted line. De Toro is trying to get the main cast set early, as he doesn’t plan to shoot the movie until early 2014.

No story details have been released for the movie, although Del Toro has previously described it as “A very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story. It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love, and at the same time subvert the old rules.” He has also compared it to Robert Wise’s The Haunting.

Guillermo del Toro is rewriting the screenplay with Lucinda Coxon, working from an original draft by Matthew Robbins.

Emma Stone In Talks For Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak

January 16, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

emma-stoneIt seems Guillermo Del Toro is keen to ensure there isn’t another five year gap between directing projects as there has been between Hellboy II and Pacific Rim, as while the latter of those movie doesn’t reach cinemas until July, he’s already casting for his recently announced movie, Crimson Peak.

Variety reports that Emma Stone is in negotiations to star and that the script, which was originally penned by del Toro and Matthew Robins, is undergoing a rewrite by the director and British writer Lucinda Coxon. When it was first announced, Del Toro described the movie as “A very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story. It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love, and at the same time subvert the old rules.” He has also compared it to Robert Wise’s The Haunting.

Del Toro is getting Stone lined up early, as currently the film isn’t due to shoot February 2014.

New The Croods Trailer Arrives – Having fun in an animated prehistory

December 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Croods looks like it could be a lot of fun. The Dreamworks Animation movie ‘is a prehistoric comedy adventure that follows the world’s first family as they embark on a journey of a lifetime when the cave that has always shielded them from danger is destroyed. Travelling across a spectacular landscape, the Croods discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures – and their outlook is changed forever.’

Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman lead the voice cast, with a March 22nd, 2013 UK release set.

Bradley Cooper May Join Emma Stone In Cameron Crowe’s Next

October 25, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While we may not have a title yet, Cameron Crowe is busy putting together his next movie, and already has Emma Stone lined up to star. Now Deadline reports he may be adding Bradley Cooper to the mix, as The Hangover actor has entered talks to join the movie.

Not too much is known about the movie, other than it’s been described as a romantic two-hander, with a tone similar to Almost Famous and Jerry Maguire. Other than that, no details have been revealed about the plot.

Many expect Cooper to get a breakthrough into being taken seriously as an actor with David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook, where he plays a man recently released from a mental institution, where he was placed after a severely violent outburst. He moves back in with his parents and plots how to win back his wife, an idea that everyone but him thinks is delusional. Hopefully the Cameron Crowe film will be a continuation of his good run.

Five Gangster Squad Character Posters Emerge

October 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

With a new poster and trailer out this week, the hype campaign for Gangster Squad has continued with the release of five characters posters for the movie, which you can see above and below. We have a suspicion they may have been hanging around for a while, as they still have the old September release date on them, before it was shifted back to January, so they could film a new ending that wouldn’t remind people of the Dark Knight Rises shootings in Colorado. They’re new to use though, and pretty cool, so enjoy!

And if you want to know more about the film, check out the latest trailer here.

New Gangster Squad Trailer – Ryan Gosling and co. take on the mobsters

October 12, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The release of Gangster Squad was thrown into disarray after the Aurora Dark Knight Rises shootings, as one of the main scenes towards the end saw gangsters opening fire in a cinema. The result was the release got pushed back to January and major reshoots were needed to add a new ending. Now the promotion of the movie is gearing up again, with a new poster and a great new trailer. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and – if he has his way – every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. Gangster Squad is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.’ The movie hits cinemas January 11th.

The Croods Teaser Trailer – First look at Dreamworks Animation’s caveman tale

October 4, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I’m not normally a big fan of Dreamworks Animation’s offering, but The Croods looks like it could be a charmer. The Croods is a prehistoric comedy adventure that follows the world’s first family as they embark on a journey of a lifetime when the cave that has always shielded them from danger is destroyed. Travelling across a spectacular landscape, the Croods discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures — and their outlook is changed forever. Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman lead the voice cast, with a March 22nd, 2013 UK release set.

Marc Webb & Andrew Garfield Back For The Amazing Spider-Man 2

September 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While we knew Andrew Garfield would almost definitely be back for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (as he signed a multi-film contract), there’s been some uncertainty over whether director Marc Webb would be back. However now it’s been confirmed to return for web-slinging follow-up.

Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrad commented, “We could not be more confident in the direction we are taking this new Spider-Man storyline and we are tremendously excited to be ramping up production again with Marc at the helm and Andrew continuing on as Peter Parker. We can’t wait to share what we have in store for Peter and Spider-Man with audiences worldwide.”

Webb’s involvement was unsure due to the fact that his (500) Days Of Summer contract means he’s obligated to make another movie for Fox Searchlight Pictures. They allowed him to go off and make Spider-man, but it wasn’t certain if a new deal could be worked out to let him direct the sequel.

Shooting on The Amazing Spider-man 2 is expected to begin production in early 2013. Emma Stone is in talks to return as Gwen Stacy, but she’s not confirmed as yet. (Sourc: Variety)
