Now You See Me – Take a look at the first four minutes of the Jesse Eisenberg thriller

May 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Audiences weren’t that interested in magic with The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, but director Louis Leterrier will be hoping for more from Now You See Me. Now the first four minutes of the movie have popped up online, so we can get a good taste for the film.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Louis Letterier’s movie sees ‘The Four Horsemen, a magic super-group led by the charismatic ATLAS (Jesse Eisenberg), perform a pair of high-tech magic shows, first astonishing audiences by robbing a bank on another continent, and then exposing a white-collar criminal and funneling his millions into the audience members’ bank accounts.

‘FBI Special Agent DYLAN (Mark Ruffalo) is determined to make the magicians pay for their crimes—and to stop them before they pull off what promises to be an even more audacious heist. But he’s forced to partner with ALMA (Melanie Laurent), an Interpol detective about whom he is instantly suspicious. Out of desperation he turns to THADDEUS (Morgan Freeman), a famed magic debunker, who claims the bank heist was accomplished using disguises and video trickery. One thing Dylan and Alma agree on is that the Horsemen must have an outside point person, and that finding him (or her) is key to ending the magicians’ crime spree. Could it be Thaddeus? Or Alma? Or could it really be…magic?

‘As pressure mounts and the world awaits the Horsemen’s spectacular final trick, Dylan and Alma race to find an answer. But it soon becomes painfully clear that staying one step ahead of these masters of illusion is beyond the skills of any one man—or woman.’

The movie is released May 31st in the US and July 3rd in the UK. [Read more…]

New Now You See Me Trailer – Jesse Eisenberg and co. turn Robin Hood magicians

April 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Audiences weren’t that interested in magic with The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, but director Louis Leterrier will be hoping for more from Now You See Me. However on the evidence of this trailer, the main magic has emerged from the computers of CGI special effects houses, although that doesn’t mean it won’t be entertaining.

Most of the original cast are back, with Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, Jemaine Clement, will.i.am, Tracy Morgan, George Lopez, Leslie Mann, Rodrigo Santoro, Brazilian singer Bebel Gilberto, Jake T. Austin, and Jamie Foxx all set to return. They’ll be joined by Rio newbies including Andy Garcia, Bruno Mars, Kristin Chenoweth, Rita Moreno, Amandla Stenberg, Rachel Crow, Pierce Gagnon, and news anchor Natalie Morales. Unfortunately there’s no info on exactly who they will play.

In Rio, rare parrots we find Blu, Jewel and their three kids are living the perfect domesticated life in that magical city. When Jewel decides the kids need to learn to live like real birds, she insists the family venture into the Amazon. Jesse Eisenberg & Emile Hirsch Take On Midnight Sun

February 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Emile Hirsch

Emile Hirsch

Jesse Eisenberg, Emile Hirsch and Diane Kruger are teaming up for Midnight Sun, according to Screen Daily, and it seems they’re going to help create the atomic bomb! Actor turned filmmaker Chris Eigeman is set to write and direct, with the movie currently looking for backers at the European Film Market.

The reports says the film is ‘Set in 1943, the drama follows two young post graduates recruited by the US Government to work on a top-secret project in New Mexico. Along with one of the students’ new wife, they drop their jazz-filled lives in New York and move to a secret community of scientists in the desert.’

It’s not a huge leap from their to assume they’re working on The Manhattan Project, the programme that resulted in the atom bomb and the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Richard Rhodes, winner of the Pulitzer prize for book The Making of the Atomic Bomb, is an advisor on the project, so hopefully it’ll stick fairly close to the truth of the project. The current plan is to shoot the movie this summer.

To Rome With Love Trailer

April 4, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

After the wonderful Midnight In Paris last year, it’s fingers crossed that Woody Allen can continue his winning streak while simultaneously continuing his European tour, this time heading to Italy for To Rome With Love. The trailer doesn’t exactly make the plot clear, although it will follow a number of people in Italy, some American, some Italian, some residents, some visitors, and the romances and adventures and predicaments they get into. Woody stars alongside Ellen Page, Jesse Eisenberg, Penelope Cruz, Alex Baldwin and Roberto Benigni. No UK release is currently set, but it’ll be out later this year.

Mia Wasikowska Joins Jesse Eisenberg In The Double

February 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Following the success of Submarine, Richard Ayoade is going slightly bigger scale for his follow up movie, The Double, which is based on a story by Dostoyevsky. Last summer Jesse Esienberg was rumoured to be lined up for the main role, and now THR confirms that and says Mia Wasikowska is set to join the movie as well.

The Double is the tale of a Russian government clerk whose life unravels when what he believes is a doppelganger of himself – who has the same name and history – begins working in his office. It’s been described as ‘Fight Club for bureaucrats’.

Ayoade is promising something funny, frightening and dream-like, a reflection on loneliness and our need to be loved. It’s due to shoot this spring or summer, with Film4 helping to fund the movie.
