Keeping Up With the Joneses Trailer: Gal Gadot and Jon Hamm turn suburban spies

June 24, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

keeping-up-with-the-joneses-slideAs 30 Rock, Jon Hamm is a pretty good comedy actor, something he’ll hopefully get to show off in Keeping Up With The Joneses, alongside Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, as well as Isla Fisher and Zach Galafianakis. The trailer for the movie has now arrived, which you can take a look at below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘An ordinary suburban couple (Zach Galifianakis, Isla Fisher) finds it’s not easy keeping up with the Joneses (Jon Hamm, Gal Gadot) – their impossibly gorgeous and ultra-sophisticated new neighbours – especially when they discover that Mr. and Mrs. “Jones” are covert operatives.’

Greg Mottola (Superbad, Paul) directs the movie. It’ll be in UK cinemas in October. [Read more…]

Now You See Me – Take a look at the first four minutes of the Jesse Eisenberg thriller

May 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Audiences weren’t that interested in magic with The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, but director Louis Leterrier will be hoping for more from Now You See Me. Now the first four minutes of the movie have popped up online, so we can get a good taste for the film.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Louis Letterier’s movie sees ‘The Four Horsemen, a magic super-group led by the charismatic ATLAS (Jesse Eisenberg), perform a pair of high-tech magic shows, first astonishing audiences by robbing a bank on another continent, and then exposing a white-collar criminal and funneling his millions into the audience members’ bank accounts.

‘FBI Special Agent DYLAN (Mark Ruffalo) is determined to make the magicians pay for their crimes—and to stop them before they pull off what promises to be an even more audacious heist. But he’s forced to partner with ALMA (Melanie Laurent), an Interpol detective about whom he is instantly suspicious. Out of desperation he turns to THADDEUS (Morgan Freeman), a famed magic debunker, who claims the bank heist was accomplished using disguises and video trickery. One thing Dylan and Alma agree on is that the Horsemen must have an outside point person, and that finding him (or her) is key to ending the magicians’ crime spree. Could it be Thaddeus? Or Alma? Or could it really be…magic?

‘As pressure mounts and the world awaits the Horsemen’s spectacular final trick, Dylan and Alma race to find an answer. But it soon becomes painfully clear that staying one step ahead of these masters of illusion is beyond the skills of any one man—or woman.’

The movie is released May 31st in the US and July 3rd in the UK. [Read more…]

New The Great Gatsby Trailer – Leonardo DiCaprio & Tobey Maguire enter a fantastical jazz age

April 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When it was announced The Great Gatsby was getting delayed from a Christmas to a summer release, many wondered if the film would flounder in a season normally devoted to superheroes and action movies, but if this trailer is anything to go by, Baz Luhrnmann’s movie certainly has the feel of an effects driven, fantastical flick.

And despite F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel being one of the defining works of the jazz age, it also appears the movie will be full of anachronistic music – which we could easily have guessed from the fact Jay-Z was hired to help oversee the soundtrack. The trailer alone has music from Beyoncé, André 3000, Lana Del Rey, and Florence + The Machine.

The film is certainly going to be an interesting one to look out for. The Great Gatsby follows Tobey Maguire’s Nick Carraway, who gets caught up in the high society of Long Island in the 1930s, where he meets the rich, enigmatic Jay Gatsby (Leonardo Dicaprio), and uncovers the desires and machinations of those around him. It’s a great story that’s still waiting for a definitive film version, which hopefully Luhrmann can provide. Elizabeth Debicki, Joel Edgerton and Isla Fisher also star.

The film reaches US cinemas of May 10th and the UK on May 17th, 2013. [Read more…]

Leo Dicaprio, Tobey Maguire & More Look Classy In New Great Gatsby Character Posters

April 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Great-Gatsby-character-poster5
It’s not too long now until the May release of Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, and to get people interested, a new set of character posters have been released, featuring Leo Dicaprio as Jay Gatsby, Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway, Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, Isla Fisher as Myrtle Wilson, Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan, and Elizabeth Debicki as Jordan Baker.

The Great Gatsby follows would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and sky-rocketing stocks.  Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan.  It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without of the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

The film hits US cinemas on May 10th and the UK on May 17th. Click below for larger versions of the new character posters.

Great Gatsby Character Posters Debut – Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton & more

December 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Great-Gatsby-character-poster4If all had gone to the original plan, we’d have been queuing up to watch Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby in cinemas now, but then Warner decided to delay the movie from Christmas 2012 to May 2013. It’s an interesting tactic, as while traditionally a big budget literary release gets a winter release to potentially qualify for awards, summer is usually reserved for superheroes and other event movies.

We’ll have to wait and see whether it works, but to help get people in the mood for the F. Scott Fitzgerald adaptation, Warner has been releasing character poster for the movie. We don’t have the two main characters yet – Leo DiCaprio’s Jay Gatsby and Carey Mulligan’s Daisy Buchanan – but as you can see above and below, we do have ones for Tobey Maguire’s Nick Carraway, Elizabeth Debicki’s Jordan Baker and the adulterous couple of Joel Edgerton’s Tom Buchanan and Isla Fisher’s Myrtle Wilson.

The Great Gatsby follows Maguire’s Carraway, who gets caught up in the high society of Long Island in the 1930s, where he meets the rich, enigmatic Jay Gatsby, and uncovers the desires and machinations of those around him. It’s a great story that’s still waiting for a definitive film version, which hopefully Luhrmann can provide.

Now You See Me Trailer – Jesse Eisenberg turns magician & bank robber

November 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Magic (of the stage variety) seems popular at the moment, with a Magic Castle movie in the works, Steve Carell starring in Burt Wonderstone and the heist thriller, Now You See Me, for which we now have the first trailer. It’s got an awesome cast, including Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman.

Louis Letterier’s movie sees ‘The Four Horsemen, a magic super-group led by the charismatic ATLAS (Jesse Eisenberg), perform a pair of high-tech magic shows, first astonishing audiences by robbing a bank on another continent, and then exposing a white-collar criminal and funneling his millions into the audience members’ bank accounts.

‘As pressure mounts and the world awaits the Horsemen’s spectacular final trick, Dylan and Alma race to find an answer. But it soon becomes painfully clear that staying one step ahead of these masters of illusion is beyond the skills of any one man—or woman.’

It opens next June.

Isla Fisher Joins Jackie Brown Prequel Switch

November 15, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Switch, based on Elmore Leonard’s prequel to Jackie Brown, has been in the works for quite a while, and it seems that the lengthy development has caused some casting changes. Variety reports that Isla Fisher is now in negotiations to star in the film, although Dennis Quaid has apparently had to drop out due to his TV series Vegas getting a full season pick-up.

The story is set 15 years before the events in Jackie Brown, with Ordell Robbie (Yasiin Bey) and Louis Gara (John Hawkes) teaming up to kidnap the wife (Jennifer Aniston) of a Detroit real estate developer (who was supposed to be played by Quaid). Their plan goes awry when the husband refuses to pay up, forcing the duo to rethink their options. Ty Burrell is set to be a witness to the kidnapping. Fisher will be Melanie, a role played by Bridget Fonda in Jackie Brown.

Daniel Schechter is directing from his own screenplay, adapted from Elmore Leonard’s 1978 novel.

Batcherlorette Trailer – Kirsten Dunst & co. get wedding fever

July 23, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

On the night before an old friend’s wedding, three frisky bridesmaids go searching for a little fun but find much more than they bargained for. With lovely Becky (Rebel Wilson) set to marry her handsome sweetheart, Dale (Hayes MacArthur), the remaining members of her high school clique reunite for one last bachelorette bacchanal in the Big Apple. Regan (Kirsten Dunst) is an overachieving, ueber-Maid of Honor who’s secretly smarting over the fact that she’s not the first to marry, while Gena (Lizzy Caplan) is a whip-smart sarcastic who’s actually a closet romantic, and Katie (Isla Fisher) is a ditzy beauty who loves the good life. But when Becky insists on keeping the bachelorette party tame, the women proceed with an after-hours celebration of their own. It should be out later this year.

Rise Of The Guardians Character Posters Debut

June 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

One of the more intriguing CG projects coming up is Dreamworks Animation’s Rise Of The Guardians, which essentially turns the likes of the Tooth Fairy and Jack Forst into superheroes! When an evil spirit known as Pitch lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians – Jack Frost (Chris Pine), North (Alec Baldwin), Tooth (Isla Fisher), E. Aster Bunnymund (Hugh Jackman) and The Sandman – must join forces for the first time to protect the hopes, beliefs and imagination of children all over the world. The film certainly gives the classic characters a bit of a makeover, so take a look at the character posters above and below.
