Monsters University Trailer – Mike and Sulley become rivals at college

February 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Mike and Sulley are back in Monsters University, although a bit younger than they were in Monsters Inc., as the new movie will follow them back in their university days, when they developed a bit of a rivalry – both want to be scarers, but while Mike is serious and studious, Sulley is a bit more freewheeling.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right.

‘Screaming with laughter and oozing with heart, Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”), produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”) and features music from future Rock-and-Roll-Hall-of-Fame–inductee and award winning composer Randy Newman (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Toy Story 3”). The film opens in UK. cinemas on July 12, 2013, and will be shown in Disney Digital 3D™ in select cinemas.’

Inside Llewyn Davis Trailer – The Coen Brothers are back with a musical tale

January 25, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Many had thought the Coen Brothers’ Inside Llewlyn Davis would get an Oscar-bait late-2012 release, but it’s not hitting the US until February 8th and should come to the UK not long afterwards.

Oscar Isaac stars as the title character, a folk singer making his way through the Greenwich Village music scene in the 1960s. The movie is loosely based on the life of folk singer Dave Van Ronk. Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, Gerrett Hedlund, and John Goodman also star.

It certainly looks stylish, with plenty of the Coens’ trademark sharp dialogue, although it’s definitely one of their more idisyncratic efforts.

Daniel Craig & John Goodman Up For Monuments Men

October 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Just yesterday we reported that Sony has decided to team with Fox as half-partners in George Clooney’s Monuments Men, and at the same time it was revealed that Cate Blanchett & Bill Murray were also up for the movie.

Now news comes via Deadline that Clooney really is lining up a stunning cast, as Daniel Craig, John Goodman, Hugh Bonneville, and Bob Balaban are also all attached to the movie, along with Jean Dujardin, who entered negotiations to star in the film a few weeks ago, and Clooney himself. Sadly we don’t know who all these people will play, but it’s certainly an impressive roster.

The movie will be based on the nonfiction book, The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves, and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History by Robert M. Edsel, which tells the story of the US government’s efforts to retrieve artwork stolen by the Nazis and the art experts whose skills were put to use in the campaign. The title comes from the name given to the American and British art historians and museum curators who helped the military track down the stolen pieces.

It’s a setup that certainly gives plenty of room for star turns from the great cast. The Monuments Men is set to begin filming in Europe this spring.

Argo Character Posters Hit The Web

September 25, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Argo certainly has a good cast, and some new character posters are trying to prove it, with pics of Ben Affleck, John Goodman and Alan Arkin arriving via the movie’s Facebook page.

Argo ‘chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis – the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades. On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the US embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA “exfiltration” specialist named Tony Mendez (Affleck) comes up with a risky plan to get them safely out of the country. A plan so incredible, it could only happen in the movies.’

Affleck also directs the movie, which hits US cinemas in October, with a UK release set for November 7th.

John Goodman Circling The Hangover Part III

August 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s rarely a bad thing to cast John Goodman in a movie, as he’s one of the few actors who can run the full gamut from deeply dark drama to full-on comedy. Now he’s in talks for a small but integral role in the upcoming The Hangover Part III, whic is said to be one of the last main roles yet to be cast before production begins later this autumn.

The actor will play an unspecified antagonist, similar to Paul Giamatti’s minor role in The Hangover Part II. Although he’s unlikely to get much screentime, director Todd Phillips has described the role as ‘juicy’, and has been looking for the right person for a while, including considering Sean Penn and Robert Downey Jr.

Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis are returning as The Wolf Pack, with Mike Tyson, Ken Jeong, Mike Epps, Heather Graham, and Sasha Barrese reprising their roles from the first two installments.

Todd Phillips is directing from the screenplay he co-wrote with Craig Mazin. (Source: Variety)

John Goodman Takes On The Internship

July 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

With The Internship just started shooting, director Shawn Levy is busy pulling together the last few cast members for the Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson comedy. Now Variety reports he’s signed up John Goodman and Eric Andre for the movie, although don’t expect much more than a cameo from Goodman.

The movie sees Vaughn and Wilson as two old-school salesmen who, finding themselves suddenly unemployed and passed-by in the digital world, try to reinvent themselves by becoming interns at a major tech company. The film is based on Vaughn’s original script.

Goodman is set to play the big boss of the company Vaughn and Wilson intern at, while US comedian/actor Eric Andre will be the guy who has to mentor the men. (Source: Variety)
