John Wick: Chapter 2 Super Bowl Spot – The action flick trolls Fifty Shades fans

February 6, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

You wouldn’t think those people who can’t wait for the release of Fifty Shades Darker would be the same ones hoping to watch John Wick: Chapter 2, but the action movie decided to have a bit of fun with them with its Super Bowl spot. The short ad initially looks like it will be for Fifty Shades, before revealing itself to be something else.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In this next chapter following the 2014 hit, legendary hitman John Wick [Keanu Reeves] is forced back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.’

Laurence Fishburne, Ruby Rose, John Leguizamo and Ian McShane also star, with Chad Stahelski directing. The film will be out in the US on Friday and arrives in the UK on February 17th. [Read more…]

Starring: Benjamin Bratt, Bryan Cranston, Diane Kruger, John Leguizamo
Director: Brad Furman
Running Time: 127 mins

Bryan Cranston is US Customs Official Bob Mazur, who specialises in going undercover to take down the bad guys. Following a successful sting where he gets injured, he’s told he’s eligible to retire. Instead he takes on a new job, going back undercover as shady business Robert Musella.

While his partner, Emir (John Leguizamo), infiltrates the lower ranks of the drug world, Bob works his way into the trust of those higher up the narcotics chain, posing as a man capable of laundering millions of dollars for Pablo Escobar’s Medellin drug cartel. The further into this world he goes the more dangerous it gets, necessitating the need for a fake fiancée (Diane Kruger), and having to pretend his wife is his secretary to help ensure his real family is kept safe, all while knowing that if he’s found out he’ll get a bullet in the brain. John Wick: Chapter 2 Trailer Keanu Reeves is ready to kick ass once more!

December 19, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

John Wick got a lot of praise, not necessarily for its plot, but for its almost comic book style and for the quality of its action. Indeed, it reminded many of why pure action has always been so popular. Now it’s coming back for a sequel.

Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

The Infiltrator Trailer – Bryan Cranston goes undercover into Pablo Escobar’s world

August 2, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

infiltrator-slideSynopsis: ‘Amidst the lavish excess of the 1980s, Robert Musella became a pivotal player for drug lords cleaning their dirty cash. He traded on mob connections, to become the confidant to scores of the international underworld and the bankers who enabled them.

‘However, Robert Musella was, in fact, the undercover persona of Special Agent Robert Mazur: a US customs official who went further than any before him. Laying his life on the line, he infiltrated the globe’s largest cartels and discovered just how deep into society their influence extended. Welcomed into an inner-circle of violence and corruption, Mazur found himself in the tight embrace of those he had promised to take down.

‘Based on the true story of a fearless undercover agent, THE INFILTRATOR is a heart-stopping account of one of history’s most elaborate stings. The operation reeled in key players in a chain stretching all the way to Escobar. Their arrests would lead to the collapse of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International and shake the black economy to its core.’

The movie will be in cinemas in September. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Cymbeline Trailer – Ethan Hawke and Milla Jovovich give Shakespeare a Sons Of Anarchy style twist

September 3, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

cymbeline-slideCymbeline may not be the most famous of Shakespeare’s tales, but decided it was good enough to do what he did with Hamlet back in 2000, and given it a modern day retelling.

As with Hamlet, he’s brought Ethan Hawke onboard to star, with Ed Harris, Milla Jovovich, John Leguizamo, Penn Badgley, Dakota Johnson and Anton Yelchin also starring.

Cymbeline tells the tale as an epic battle between dirty cops and a drug dealing biker gang set in a corruption-riddled 21st century America. King Cymbeline, leader of the Briton Motorcycle Club, clashes with the corrupt Roman Police while his radiant but disobedient daughter Imogen fends off assaults on her honor and her life. Cymbeline’s wife and her son aspire to take over the king’s empire, and Imogen’s marriage to Posthumus is undermined by sinister interference from Iachimo, a malevolent stranger. Shakespeare’s timeless themes are love and betrayal, revenge and forgiveness, death and renewal.

In the original play Imogen dresses as a boy and leaves to go and find her exiled lover, but whether the new film will feature any cross-dressing is yet to be seen. Cymbeline premieres imminently at Venice, with a cinema release expected next year. [Read more…]

Chef Trailer – Jon Favreau serves up something a little more small-scale

April 8, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jon Favreau has been making big Hollywood blockbusters for the last few years with the first two Iron Man movies, and he’s also been developing some other grand scale projects such as The Jungle Book and Magic Kingdom.

However he’s now squeezed in something a little smaller and which gives him the chance to both direct and play the lead.

The movie follows a former high class chef (Favreau) who decides to get team up with his ex-wife (Sofia Vergara), his best pal (John Leguizamo) and his son (Emjay Anthony) and get a food truck, which he hopes will get him out of the rut he’s stuck in.

The great cast also features Dustin Hoffman, Scarlett Johansson, Garry Shandling and Robert Downey Jr.

Chef is due out in the US on May 9th, before coming to the UK on June 20th. [Read more…]

John Leguizamo Going On A Ride Along With Ice Cube

October 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s rarely a bad idea to cast John Leguizamo in a film, something director Tim Story (Think Like a Man) seems to have realised, as Variety reports he’s busy signing the actor to join the cast of Ride Along.

The movie is about a hard-nosed cop (Ice Cube) who is extremely protective of his sister. When her new boyfriend (Kevin Hart) wants to marry her, he is taken on a police ride-along to prove himself to his future brother-in-law. John Leguizamo will play an undercover cop in the comedy.

Greg Coolidge wrote the screenplay, based on an earlier draft by Steve Faber and Bob Fisher (Wedding Crashers). It isn’t known when the movie will go into production.

John Leguizamo Up For Kick-Ass 2 & Ridley Scott’s The Counselor

July 31, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

John Leguizamo will soon be heading for TV as a US version on Del Boy in their take on Only Fools And Horses, but before then he’s filling up his schedule with high profile film work. Deadline reports that he’s set for both Kick Ass 2 and Ridley Scott’s The Counselor.

The Cormac McCarthy-scripted Counselor already has Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz onboard, and follows a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip a toe in to the drug business without getting sucked down. It is a bad decision and he tries his best to survive it and get out of a desperate situation. Leguizamo will be a low level drug dealer in the movie.

As for Kick Ass 2, the actor is set to play Javier, the bodyguard who’s trying to protect aspiring supervillain Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). Aaron Johnson and Chloe Moretz will also be back for the sequel, with Jeff Wadlow directing.

One For The Money (DVD)

June 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Katherine Heigl, Jason O'Mara, Daniel Sunjata, John Leguizamo
Director: Julie Anne Robinson
Running Time: 87 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: June 18th, 2012

Katherine Heigl’s name is becoming increasingly synonymous with slightly underpar movies. It’s a great shame as she’s actually a very good actress. Her work in Grey’s Anatomy was incredibly strong, winning her an Emmy, and it was due to this and Knocked Up that it looked like she’d have a strong movie career. However the likes of The Ugly Truth, Killers and now One For The Money suggest she’s either not very good at picking projects, or she’s only being offered second string flicks.

To be honest, you can understand why she’d think One For The Money would be a good idea. It’s based on Janet Evanovich’s incredibly popular Stephanie Plum novels and was obviously set up in the hope of creating a franchise. Unfortunately the end result is limp, rather silly and while not actively bad, doesn’t have much that’s truly good about it. [Read more…]

Ice Age: Continental Drift Teaser – Scrat’s Continental Crack Up 2

November 18, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Although I personally find Scrat from Ice Age one of the most annoying things in the world, I know a lot of people like him. Now a second Scrat short, made as a teaser for next year’s Ice Age: Continental Drift has shown up online. In the new Ice Age movie, Scrat’s nutty pursuit of the cursed acorn, which he’s been after since the dawn of time, has world-changing consequences – a continental cataclysm that triggers the greatest adventure of all for Manny, Diego and Sid. In the wake of these upheavals, Sid reunites with his cantankerous Granny, and the herd encounters a ragtag menagerie of seafaring pirates determined to stop them from returning home.
