Anchorman: The Legend Continues Teaser – Ron Burgundy and co. are really back

May 20, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For years an Anchorman sequel was rumoured and talked about, but most people gave up hoping of ever seeing it. However now it’s in production and a teaser has been released to prove it really is coming. There’s no footage from the actual movie, but it does see Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), Champ Kind (David Koechner), and Brick Tamland (Steve Carell) lining up to reintroduce themselves.

The film itself look at how the advent of the 24-hour news cycle in the early 80s affect the old-fashioned Burgundy.

It’s shooting now for a Christmas release.

Vince Vaughn Joins Will Ferrell In Daddy’s Home

May 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Vince-VaughnVince Vaughn seems to be enjoying collaborating with old friend at the moment, as he’s got The Internship with Owen Wilson in cinemas this summer, and now THR reveals he’s teaming up with Will Ferrell for Daddy’s Home.

They’ve previously appeared together in Old School, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Wedding Crashers and Starsky & Hutch.

The film is about a mild-mannered radio executive played by Ferrell, who wants to be the best stepfather he can be to his wife’s children. However, this gets complicated when their deadbeat biological father (Vaughn) returns and forces Ferrell to fight for the kids’ affection.

Etan Cohen will make his directorial debut with the movie. He’s a screenwriter by trade, having worked on the likes of Idiocracy, Tropic Thunder, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, and Men in Black 3.

Will Ferrell May Play Tag Brothers With Jack Black

April 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Will-FerrellBack in January a Wall Street Journal article went viral, which was all about a group of men, who are now in the 40s, who’ve been playing a game of tag for 23 years. Unsurprisingly the idea peaked the interest of Hollywood, with New Line snapping up the rights.

Now the project is moving forward, with TheWrap reporting that Will Ferrell and Jack Black are attached to star.

The game of tag started in high school, and has continued since, but with certain rules. The 10 men spend 11 months of their lives living normally, but for the entirety of February, whoever is ‘it’ has to try and find one of the others to tag. There are no geographic limitations, with the main aim not to be the last one in the month to be ‘it’, as then you have to remain that way for the next 11 months.

The game has taken the guys across country, caused injuries, paranoia and all manner of creative ways for one person to tag the next.

It could certainly make a fun film, with Ferrell & Black seeming like good choices for the men who haven’t completely grown up. There’s no news on when it might shoot.

New Anchorman: The Legend Continues Cameos Revealed

April 5, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

anchorman-2-teaser-posterEver since Anchorman: The Legend Continues was announced, it’s been suggested the movie would get some good star cameo. We already knew Harrison Ford had a decent sized role in the movie and there’s been suggestions that John C. Reilly will be showing up to. However now Nicole Kidman has signed on for an uncredited cameo role in the comedy sequel.

Vince Vaughn and Luke Wilson, both of whom had tiny roles in 2004’s Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, are also shooting cameos, according to THR. No details have given regarding the roles these actors will portray.

Will Ferrell (Ron Burgundy), Paul Rudd (Brian Fantana), Steve Carell (Brick Tamland), David Koechner (Champ Kind) and Christina Applegate (Veronica Corningstone) all return for the movie, with Harrison Ford, Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Dylan Baker and Meagan Good joining the cast. The movie will explore that happens to Ron Burgundy when the 24-hour news cycle changes the face of being an anchor.

Adam McKay is directing from a script he co-wrote with Will Ferrell. It’ll be released at Christmas.

The Lego Movie Title Logo & Competition Revealed

March 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

lego-movie-titlesThe first-ever, full-length theatrical LEGO adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, is due to open February 7th, 2014. Now the logo for the film has been revealed, which looks suitably bricky.

A competition has also been announced, offering aspiring filmmakers the possibility of having their own 15-30 second LEGO film creations featured in the movie. The competition opens on ReBrick on March 25th, but here’s a few details about it.

The fan-produced clips will relate to an exciting scene in the film, in which the citizens of the LEGO universe rally to prevent an unspeakable disaster. They do this by quickly disassembling the elements of their environments, brick by brick, and rebuilding them into fantastic and fun hybrid vehicles and tools, the stranger and more innovative, the better, like rocket/dragons or butterfly/speedboats, to take part in an epic battle.

Using only LEGO bricks and non-licensed LEGO mini-figures, contestants will select a character and set their action sequence in one of their favourite LEGO worlds, such as Space, Pirates, Western, Vikings, Dino, Castle, and others. After building and recording their LEGO vid, they must upload the video to YouTube, and bookmark it on the rebrick.com Building Challenge page, where it will be open for voting from the entire ReBrick membership. The 25 videos earning the most ‘Likes’ will be reviewed for creativity, originality, theme and suitability for the film by a panel of judges, including Phil Lord and Chris Miller, writers/directors of The Lego Movie.

The Grand Prize winner will receive a trip for two to Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California, for a VIP Tour; a meeting with the directors, to participate in a LEGO build; an exclusive LEGO film camera designed and built by the official LEGO model shop; plus souvenir items from the movie’s set, signed by the designers. His or her winning entry may also be edited into the film’s big battle sequence. Second and third place winners will also be honoured, as well as winners of bi-weekly prizes selected during the challenge’s six-week run, for a range of additional prizes, including tickets to the Studio’s tour, The Lego Movie merchandise, a $200 gift card for the Studio’s online store, and a feature spot on The Official LEGO Channel on YouTube.

All entrants must be at least 16 years old and be registered on the LEGO fansite rebrick. Submissions will be accepted from March 25, 2013, at 9:00 A.M., until May 6, 2013, at 8:59 A.M., EDT. Videos must be between 15-30 seconds and be captured using a camera that is at least 3.2 megapixels, and framed to fit within a 2.40:1 aspect ratio (as that’s what the final movie will use). If you fancy entering, make sure you read also the rule at rebrick.it/Contest.

The 3D computer animated The Lego Movie tells the story of Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

Greg Kinnear & Josh Lawson Join Anchorman 2

March 16, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

greg-kinnearWith shooting finally kicking off on Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, the cast continues to grow, with Greg Kinnear and Josh Lawson joining the ensemble as production continues in Atlanta.

Deadline reports on the casting news, but unfortunately they don’t have any info on the character either actor will play.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy sees the return of Will Ferrell (Ron Burgundy), Paul Rudd (Brian Fantana), Steve Carell (Brick Tamland), David Koechner (Champ Kind), and Christina Applegate (Veronica Corningstone) with new characters played by the likes of Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Dylan Baker, Meagan Good, and Harrison Ford.

The movie is set in the late 1970s, with the Action 4 News team having adapt to the ever-changing landscape of broadcast news after the advent of the 24-hour news cycle. We also known it involves a trip to New York.

Adam McKay is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Will Ferrell.

Dylan Baker & Meagan Good Join Anchorman: The Legend Continues

March 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Dylan-BakerWith shooting kicking off on Anchorman: The Legend Continues, the cast continues to grow, with Dylan Baker and Meagan Good signing on to join the comedy ensemble for this much-anticipated sequel, according to Deadline.

Meagan Good, who currently stars in the TV drama Deception, will play the new boss of the Action 4 News team, which consists of Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), Champ Kind (David Koechner), and Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd). No details have been release about Dylan Baker’s character. Christina Applegate, James Marsden, and Kristen Wiig also star.

Yesterday we reported that John C. Reilly may have signed on to the movie, based on casting notice that was asking for Reilly look-alikes. However, a studio representative shot down the rumor with the odd explanation,
“We were looking for a stand-in for lighting purposes who looks like John C. Reilly. We always demand that every stand-in looks like John C. Reilly.” He may well still be in the movie, but it seems they don’t want to announce if officially yet.

The film will follow the Action 4 News team in the late 1970s, as they deal with the sweeping changes in broadcast news brought on by the advent of the 24-hour news cycle.

James Marsden Joins Anchorman 2 As Ron Burgundy’s New Rival

February 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

james-marsdenWith Anchorman 2 gearing up to shoot, Adam McKay is filling in the new roles. Kristen Wiig recently signed on the star, and now Deadline says another new addition to the Anchorman family is James Marsden.

The actor will play what is described as a rival anchor and nemesis to Will Ferrell’s Ron Burgundy. Little is known about the story, except that it takes place in the late 1970s during the advent of the 24-hour news cycle. Needless to say, the Action 4 News team has trouble adapting to this news format, and we’d imagine Marsden will be a dashing younger newsman who challenges Ron’s more old-fashioned style

Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, and Christina Applegate are all reprising their Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy roles, with Adam McKay directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Will Ferrell. Production is scheduled to start next month in Atlanta.

The Campaign (DVD)

January 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Will Ferrell, Jason Sudeikis, Dylan McDermott, Zach Galifianakis
Director: Jay Roach
Running Time: 80 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: January 21st 2013

Director Jay Roach had a bit of a political 2012. He made the HBO Sarah Palin biopic Game Change and the comedy The Campaign. For my money it was the former that was the most successful.

The Campaign is the sort of movie that will divide audiences – if you don’t mind films that leave reality in the dust and find their humour in stupidity, you’ll probably like it, but if you want your films to have some sort of logic to them, you’ll probably give up about 20 minutes in. Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart Get Hard

December 10, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Will Ferrell has got a new comedy up his sleeve and for this one he’s teaming up with Kevin Hart, as Deadline reports that they’ve both signed on to star in Get Hard for Warner Bros.

The movie is about a wealthy investment banker (Ferrell) who gets sentenced to a maximum security prison for a crime that he didn’t commit (in movie land, nobody get locked up for something they actually did). He enlists the help of the man who usually washes his car (Kevin Hart), in order to prepare him for doing hard time before he has to report to prison in 30 days.

Ian Roberts and Ian Roberts, who serve as executive producers and showrunners on Comedy Central’s Key & Peele, wrote the screenplay, with Gary Sanchez attached to produce. The project does not have a director attached as of yet.
