New Tully Trailer – Charlize Theron, director Jason Reitman & writer Diablo Cody are back together

March 8, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While Young Adult wasn’t the success any of them probably hoped, it hasn’t stopped actor Charlize Theron, writer Diablo Cody and director Jason Reitman reteaming for Tully. The movie has just released a new trailer, giving us a good look at the comedy about a mother and a nanny, which has been getting some good notices at festivals.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A new comedy from Academy Award®-nominated director Jason Reitman (“Up in the Air”) and Academy Award®-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (“Juno”). Marlo (Academy Award® winner Charlize Theron), a mother of three including a newborn, is gifted a night nanny by her brother (Mark Duplass). Hesitant to the extravagance at first, Marlo comes to form a unique bond with the thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes challenging young nanny named Tully (Mackenzie Davis).’

The movie is due out on April 20th. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

Charlize Theron Re-Teaming With Diablo Cody & Jason Reitman For A New Film

April 5, 2016 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

charlize-theronSome loved 2011’s Young Adult while others were far less impressed, but some of the creative team are getting back together. Deadline reports that Charlize Theron is loosely attached to a new script by Diablo Cody (Juno), which Jason Reitman is attached to direct.

Everything is in the early stages, to the point where no plot details have been released, other than that it centres around motherhood.

There was a lot of interest in Young Adult, partly because it reunited Reitman and Cody after the Oscar winning success of Juno. Despite a largely positive critical reaction (although with qualifications), it didn’t really find much interest from audience, only grossing $22 million at cinemas around the world. Hopefully the new film will find a bit more success.

Director Jason Reitman Takes On The Possibilities

January 29, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jason-reitmanHaving completed Labor Day with Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin, Jason Reitman is already thinking about future projects, with Variety reporting that he has signed up to direct The Possibilities. The movie will be an adaption of Kaui Hart Hemmings’ upcoming novel. Hemmings previously had book-to-film success with The Descendants.

The official plot description of the book says, ‘In this highly anticipated novel from the bestselling author of The Descendants, a grieving mother struggles to overcome her son’s death, when a strange girl enters her life with a secret that changes them both forever.

‘Sarah St. John, a single mother, is reeling from grief: Three months ago, her twenty-one-year-old son, Cully, died in an avalanche near their home in the ski resort town of Breckenridge, Colorado.

‘As Sarah tries her best to go through the stages-the anger, the sadness, the letting go-she has trouble keeping her grief at bay and moving on with life. Her father, a retiree who has become addicted to QVC, urges Sarah to go back to work at Breckenridge’s local morning show. Her best friend, a recent divorcee who always manages to say the wrong things, convinces Sarah to sort through Cully’s belongings. Slowly, she comes to terms with a world without the swish of her son’s ski pants or the rolling of his skateboard outside her window. Then a girl named Kit appears on Sarah’s doorstep-and she’s carrying Cully’s child.’

It isn’t known if Jason Reitman is also writing the screenplay, although there’s a good chance that he wil. There isn’t any info on when it might shoot either.

New Labor Day Trailer – Kate Winslet & Josh Brolin star in Jason Reitman’s film

November 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Juno and Young Adult director Jason Reitman is getting a little more serious with Labor Day, and we can get a taste of that in a new trailer, which start Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin.

Reitman has previously said it’s a more straightforward work than his previous movie. ”There’s no cynicism in this movie. There’s no irony in this movie. This one is dramatic, romantic, and has moments of being a thriller — all new things for me. It felt like making my first movie again.”

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Labor Day centers on 13-year-old Henry Wheeler, who struggles to be the man of his house and care for his reclusive mother Adele while confronting all the pangs of adolescence. On a back-to-school shopping trip, Henry and his mother encounter Frank Chambers, a man both intimidating and clearly in need of help, who convinces them to take him into their home and later is revealed to be an escaped convict. The events of this long Labor Day weekend will shape them for the rest of their lives.’

First Look At Kate Winslet & Josh Brolin In Jason Reitman’s Labor Day Released

August 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Labor-Day-pic1It looks like Juno and Young Adult director Jason Reitman might be getting serious with Labor Day, as the first image, which arrives via EW, show us Kate Winslet looking rather stressed and upset, while Josh Brolin gazes off into the distance (or at least into the wall).

Reitman says it’s a more straightforward work than his previous movie. ”There’s no cynicism in this movie. There’s no irony in this movie,” he says. “This one is dramatic, romantic, and has moments of being a thriller — all new things for me. It felt like making my first movie again.”

James Van Der Beek Joins Jason Reitman’s Labor Day

April 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

As police search the town for an escaped convict, the mother and son gradually learn his true story as their options become increasingly limited. Suits Star Tom Lipinski Joins Jason Reitman’s Labor Day

April 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

You’d have thought Josh Brolin might have been able to play a version of his character who’s in his 20s, but apparently not, as Variety reports that Jason Reitman has cast Tom Lipinski as the young version of Brolin in his upcoming Labor Day.

The film is based on Joyce Maynard’s novel and follows Frank Chambers (Josh Brolin), an escaped convict who seeks shelter with a depressed single mom (Kate Winslet) and her teen son over the Labor Day weekend.

Lipinski will appear in flashbacks as young Frank, who returns from Vietnam and promptly marries his hometown sweetheart, only to find that she’s no longer the innocent teenage girl he left behind.

Jason Reitman is directing, writing, and producing with shooting expected to start fairly soon.
