Third Person Trailer – Fresh look at James Franco, Mila Kunis, Olivia Wilde & Liam Neeson in Paul Haggis’ star-studded tale

April 16, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Paul Haggis won an Oscar for his multi-stranded tale Crash (although many people think he shouldn’t have). Now he’s back in ensemble movie mode for Third Person, which tells three stories set in Rome, Paris, and New York, set at different times in couples’ relationships.

The star-studded cast includes James Franco, Mila Kunis, Olivia Wilde, Liam Neeson, Kim Basinger, Adrien Brody, Maria Bello and Moran Atias.

Neeson plays a man who leaves his wife to go live with the much younger Olivia Wilde, Franco and Kunis are a former couple who can’t stop warring over custody of their son, while Adrien Brody is involved with a woman whose child has ended up in the hands of people traffickers.

It’s certainly sounds like there’s plenty of drama (and Crash haters will probably already be cringing). The movie hits the US in June, but it’s not clear when it will come to the UK. [Read more…]

Maria Bello & Adrien Brody Join Paul Haggis’ Third Person

October 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Adrien Brody and Maria Bello have signed on to appear in the increasingly starry cast of Third Person, writer/director Paul Haggis’ ensemble romantic drama, according to Variety.

The movie follows three couples living in Rome, Paris, and New York, with each pairing representing the beginning, the middle, and the end of a relationship. Adrien Brody and Moran Atias will play the new couple who take a road trip through Italy. Casey Affleck was previously attached to Brody’s role, but it appears he’s been forced to drop out.

Liam Neeson and Kim Basinger are the Paris couple, who are both writers in the middle of a relationship, which gets complicated by by the appearance of another woman. Mila Kunis and James Franco are playing the embattled New York couple who love is coming to a close. No details were given for Maria Bello’s character.

Paul Haggis is directing from his own original screenplay. Principal photography has now started in Rome.

Kim Basinger Up For Paul Haggis’ Third Person

October 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s difficult to know whether Kim Basinger’s rather sporadic film appearances over the last few year are more to do with choice or simply because not that many people have roles for her. She was last seen in 2010’s Charlie St. Cloud, but has now signed up for a part in Crash writer/director Paul Haggis’ new drama, Third Person.

The movie is about three couples living in New York, Rome, and Paris. THR reports that the actress will portray the wife of Liam Neeson’s character, a writer in Paris. Back in April Olivia Wilde signed up to play Neeson’s girlfriend, which suggests the plot will revolve around some extramarital shenanigans.

Mila Kunis and James Franco are playing an estranged New York couple, while Casey Affleck and Moran Atias will be a new couple taking a road trip through Italy. Each couple and city represent the beginning, middle, and end of a relationship.

Paul Haggis will direct from his own screenplay, with shooting starting on October 17th in Rome.

James Franco, Mila Kunis & Casey Affleck Set For Third Person

August 23, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Mila Kunis, James Franco, and Casey Affleck have joined the cast of Third Person for writer/director Paul Haggis, according to Variety. Liam Neeson and Olivia Wilde signed up to star back in April.

The romantic drama follows the inter-connected stories of three couples all living in different cities – Rome, Paris, and New York. Each couple and city represent different phases of a relationship, with Rome representing the beginning, Paris the middle, and New York the end.

Casey Affleck and Moran Atias (The Next Three Days) play the new couple who take a road trip through Italy. Liam Neeson and Olivia Wilde are playing the Paris couple, both of whom are writers. Mila Kunis and James Franco portray the troubled New York couple.

Paul Haggis is directing from his own screenplay, with shooting scheduled to begin October 17 in Rome.

Liam Neeson & Olivia Wilde In The Third Person

April 5, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Hollywood’s love of older man-younger woman relationships continues apace with the news 59-year-old Liam Neeson and 28-year-old Olivia Wilde will be dating in Paul Haggis’ film Third Person. Vulture reports they’ve both signed on for the movie.

Haggis also having a little to say about the story, confirming that “It’s about three story lines, three love stories, three relationships in three different cities that combine in a very odd way: New York, Paris, Rome.”

News of the movie first emerged in a report in the New York Post last week, which said that the film revolves around a nightlife reporter. However the director says that aspect is only a small part of the story. “I wanted one of them to have a job in New York. So after writing the script, I thought, ‘Oh, party reporting, that would be great.’ But literally, it’s just that. The character is not based on anyone, or anything like that. Imagine, the Post not having the correct information!”

Olivia Wilde will be playing the aforementioned journalist, with Liam Neeson as her boyfriend. The director wants to begin shooting in August, although it isn’t certain how firm that start date is. It’s only yesterday that it was revealed Neeson had signed on for the thriller Non-Stop, but it isn’t known whether that ot Third Person will shoot first.
