Apropos Of Nothing: The Naked Warwick Rowers Give Us Our First Tease Of Their 2015 Calendar

July 9, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

naked-rowers-2014-slideIn what has fast become a much-anticipated annual event the Warwick University Rowers are once again producing a naked calendar, and to ensure we’re ready they’ve released the first tease for this fiesta of buff blokes not wearing a lot.

Last year’s calendar raised funds for Sport Allies, a programme developed by the rowers themselves in partnership with the charity, Educational Action Challenging Homophobia, which is dedicated to challenging homophobia among young people. We’re presuming the new calendar will also raise funds for the charity (and possibly some other good causes).

But whether it’s good for our fellow man or not, it’s certainly very, very, hot. If you need a reminder of just what these boys have to offer, take at videos from the making of the 2014 calendar here and here.

Take a look at the tease below. [Read more…]

Apropos Of Nothing: David Beckham Is In His Underwear Again For His New H&M Range

July 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

david-beckham-hm-summer-2014-4-slideDavid Beckham may not play football professionally anymore, but he does still have his underwear range for H&M. So I suppose he’s a professional ‘getting photographed in your undies’-er.

Not that we’re complaining about that, as whenever there’s a new set of underpants and other assorted accoutrements, we’re guaranteed some hot pics of Mr. Posh Spice showing off his wares.

For his latest set of David Beckham Bodywear styles he’s certainly delivered which some great shots, which you can see above and below.

The Autumn collection launches globally on August 21 in all H&M stores that carry menswear, as well as online.Unfortunately though, if you turn up on the store on that day it’ll just be the new undies, without Beckham in them. [Read more…]

New Supercut Reveals Transformers Director Michael Bay’s Obsession With Cheap & Nasty Gay Jokes

July 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

michael-bay-age-of-extinction-setThere has been a lot of comment about how Michael Bay films the few female characters allowed into his movies in a way that makes even the least socially aware person suddenly realise what the term ‘objectification of women’ means.

What isn’t mentioned quite as often is that there’s also at least one moment in any Bay movies where gay people will start cringing due to a joke where ‘homos’ are the punchlines, and which like the way he treats women, reveals a very old-fashioned attitude to what it means to be a ‘man’ and what masculinity is. Yet there’s still a fascination with, probably due to the fact he loves bromances, even if Bay is now the king of ‘no homo’.

To show just how Bay’s attitude to gay people works (and with Transformers: Age Of Extinction opening), Gawker has come up with a rather fascinating supercut of gay jokes from a variety of the director’s movies, which shows just how cheap, casual and rather unpleasant his film’s attitude towards homosexuality is, whether it’s the world’s most stereotypically gay stylist in The Rock (which really does come across like a gay minstrel show), or Mark Wahlberg making sure there are ‘no homos’ amongst a group of kids in Pain & Gain.

Take a look below. [Read more…]

Crush Of The Day: Henry Cavill Gets Charitable On The Batman v Superman Set

June 30, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

batman-v-superman-henry-cavill-set-pic-slideDirector Zack Snyder has given us a few looks at the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice set, but all his images have concentrated on Batman and his equipment. However now we’ve been given our first look at Henry Cavill in set, looking very clean cut as Clark Kent.

If you’re wondering what the t-shirt is he’s holding up, it’s to support The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund, a British charity that provides services for Royal Marines (both active and retired) and their families.

The tweet that accompanied the pic read, ‘A treat for a Monday morning for all our #HenryCavill fans. Henry is a great supporter of the @RM1664Challenge!’

Now we just need to wait for looks at Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.

Take a look at the full pic below. [Read more…]

Kathy Bates Says Uma Thurman Would Be Her Fantasy Lesbian Love Interest

June 29, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kathy-Bates-Sandra-Oh-TammyPoor old Sandra Oh. She’s just made a movie where she plays the lesbian partner of Kathy Bates, and now she discovers that Kathy would have preferred someone else all along!

The movie appeared in together is Tammy, the Melissa McCarthy comedy that hits cinemas next week, and sees McCarthy going on a road trip with her foul-mouthed grandmother (Susan Sarandon), and meeting up with Bates and Oh along the way.

However when Kathy was asked by PrideSource about who else she’d like to play her female partner on-screen, she says, “Who do I love? Oh, I could totally see this: I shared a plane trip with Uma Thurman once and I thought she was pretty cool. I could see doing a movie with her and having a lesbian relationship – although I’m much too old for her! … Yeah, that would probably be a fantasy movie relationship.”

Sandra needn’t worry too much though, as Bates is keen to point out, “I do know that I’m just absolutely in love with Sandra, and let me just say that she really brought our relationship to bloom. She brought a lot of love and warmth, and it was her idea to have wedding rings – because of course! – which I hadn’t thought about, and also, really, to think that our relationship is the healthiest relationship in the movie… I’m just so in love and married to Sandra that I don’t know if I could come up with anybody else. It would feel like cheating!”

Demi Lovato: Reveals Her Grandfather Was Gay As She Launches A Music Vid Shot At LA Pride

June 27, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

demi-lovato-dont-really-careEarlier this month Demi Lovato acted as Grand Marshal of the LA Pride Parade (and she’s a headliner of this weekend’s NYC’s Pride event, Dance on the Pier). While at the Los Angeles event she also took the opportunity to shoot a video for her new song, Really Don’t Care, which has now been released.

However it’s not just a completely shameless attempts to cash in on pink pound, as Demi has a personal connection to the LGBT community. At Logo TV’s Trailblazers event, she revealed that her grandfather was gay and came out in the 1960s.

On stage the singer and actress said, “I’ve never spoken about this before, but my grandfather himself was a trailblazer. He was brave enough to come out in the 1960s, and I feel a lot of my spirit has come from him. He passed away a few years later and I only wish he could have been able to see all the progress that has been made.”

Trailblazers marked the first anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling against DOMA and honoured several people who have made a difference for LGBT people over the years.

Demi’s video for Really Don’t Care features plenty of floats, drag queens and general Pride glitz (as well as Cher Lloyd, who features in the song), but it does have a serious point to make too, highlighted by opening on footage of those who turned out to protest against everything gay.

Take a look at the video below. [Read more…]

Neil Patrick Harris Releases An Excerpt From His Choose Your Own Adventure Autobiography

June 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

neil-patrick-harris-autobiography-slideA couple of months ago we posted a story about Neil Patrick Harris announcing he was releasing an autobiography, and he’d be doing it in a ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ style. At the time we wondered whether it was a joke, but the book is real and an excerpt has now been released so you can get a feel for how you’ll journey through NPH’s life.

The official info reads: ‘Sick of deeply personal accounts written in the first person? Seeking an exciting, interactive read that puts the “u” back in “aUtobiography”? Then look no further than Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography! In this revolutionary, Joycean experiment in light celebrity narrative, actor/personality/carbon-based life-form Neil Patrick Harris lets you, the reader, live his life. You will be born in New Mexico. You will get your big break at an acting camp. You will get into a bizarre confrontation outside a nightclub with actor Scott Caan. Even better, at each critical juncture of your life you will choose how to proceed. You will decide whether to try out for Doogie Howser, M.D. You will decide whether to spend years struggling with your sexuality. You will decide what kind of caviar you want to eat on board Elton John’s yacht.

‘Choose correctly and you’ll find fame, fortune, and true love. Choose incorrectly and you’ll find misery, heartbreak, and a guest stint on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. All this, plus magic tricks, cocktail recipes, embarrassing pictures from your time as a child actor, and even a closing song. Yes, if you buy one book this year, congratulations on being above the American average, but make that book Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography! On sale October 14, 2014.’

Take a look at the excerpt below. [Read more…]

Daniel Radcliffe Says He Wants To Be Robin Opposite Ben Affleck’s Batman

June 23, 2014 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Daniel-RadcliffeHoly casting, Batman – it appears that Daniel Radcliffe would quite like to play a superhero, and if he can’t be the character he’d really like to be, he’ll be his sidekick.

Buzzfeed reports that when asked if after Harry Potter, he’d like to join another franchise, he replied, “Batman. If they reboot that again I’ll do that too. It’s happening, isn’t it? With Ben Affleck. I could be Robin, I’m perfect.”

We’re not sure how serious he is, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it gets director Zack Snyder thinking. It’s probably too late to add Dan to the already shooting Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but Justice League is also in the works – which could have a Robin – and there are also unconfirmed rumours there will be a standalone Bat-flick called The Batman in 2019.

To be honest, this is probably more pipe dream than anything that might become true – but personally we’d love to see Dan as Batman’s sidekick.

Getting Go: The Go Doc Project’s Tanner Cohen Talks About The Film & Getting Close to Co-stars

June 22, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Matthew-Camp-Tanner-Cohen2Tanner Cohen gained a huge amount of fans after he played the lead role in the gay-themed musical Were The World Mine. However except for brief appearances in the likes of Looking, we haven’t seen too much of him since (although he’s certainly been busy). Now he’s back with Getting Go: The Go Doc Project, which is released on DVD and VoD in the UK on June 23rd.

In the movie Tanner plays Doc, a young man fascinated by go-go dancer Go. After Doc gets Go to agree to be the subject of a documentary he wants to make, their relationship develops in unexpected directions.

Yesterday we posted our chat with Getting Go star Matthew Camp, and we were also fortunate enough to chat to Tanner about the film and what he’s been up to since Were The World Mine. He also made us wonder just how close him and Matthew got! [Read more…]

Crush Of The Day: Zac Efron Looks Hot While Making Skateboards Shirtless

June 22, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zac-efron-skateboardsZac Efron is doing his bit for charity, and because he’s Zac Efron, he’s doing it shirtless!

The Neighbors star appears in a new video where him and a few friends are busy making Lekker Skateboards, all for a good cause. However I’m sure when many people view the vid, it’s not the skateboard making skills they’ll be paying attention to.

Although we’re presuming he’s going to stick with acting, at least he knows there’s an alternative career he can fall back on.

You can take a look at Zac’s shirtless skateboard making skills below. And we’re sure he felt extra manly while handling all those power tools. [Read more…]
