New The Jungle Book Trailer – Into Disney’s live-action take on the Kipling classic

February 8, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jungle-book-full-triptych-posterWhile most studios were just dropping 30 or 40 second trailers for their upcoming movies, Disney decided to tie into the big game with a new, full trailer for their upcoming, live-action take on The Jungle Book. You can take a look at it below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat.

‘Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.

‘The all-star cast also includes Lupita Nyong’o as the voice of the fiercely protective mother wolf Raksha, and Giancarlo Esposito as the voice of wolf pack’s alpha male Akela. “The Jungle Book” seamlessly blends live-action with photorealistic CGI animals and environments, using up-to-the-minute technology and storytelling techniques to immerse audiences in an enchanting and lush world.

‘The wild adventure swings into cinemas in 3D, April 2016.’

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows Super Bowl Spot – Get your first look at Krang

February 8, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-2-trailer-slideThe heroes in a halfshell return to the live action arena this summer with Out Of The Shadows, and now the film’s Super Bowl spot has arrived, giving us our first glimpse of the villainous Krang. Take a look below.

This time around the turtles and Megan Fox’s April O’Neil are going to be joined by Arrow’s Stephen Amell as hockey-mask wearing vigilante Casey Jones. It has to be said that while the first movie was okay but a bit naff, this looks like it might be pretty cool.

Dave Green directs, with a June 2016 release date set. Watch the Super Bowl spot below.

10 Cloverfield Lane Super Bowl Spot – Something is coming and you’d better hide!

February 8, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

10-cloverfield-lane-slideIt’s only a couple of weeks since we discovered that 10 Cloverfield Lane existed, and now it’s got a Super Bowl spot which sets out to amp up the mystery, most particularly over whether this is a Cloverfield sequel, spin-off or just sharing the name to tie in into the fact it’ll be thematically similar to the monster movie. Whatever it is, it looks like John Goodman holing up in an underground shelter is a good idea, as it doesn’t seem very safe on the surface.

Although there’s still little official info on the plot, some have suggested the Super Bowl spot is proof it’s directly linked to Cloverfield, as you can hear the same monster sound in both. The current speculation is that it’s set at the same time as the other movie, following a different bunch of people sheltering from the monster’s attack. However the end of the spot does hint that perhaps something different is going on.

The movie will be in cinemas in March. Take a look at the Super Bowl spot below.

X-Men: Apocaplyse Extended Super Bowl Spot – Things are getting serious for the mutants

February 8, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

x-men-apocalypse-trailer-slideThings were pretty precarious for the mutants in Days Of Future Past, but it looks like resetting the timeline hasn’t made their lives any easier. An extended version of the movie’s Super Bowl spot certainly suggests things are getting intense, angry and destructive.

Take a look below.

Here’s the synopsis:’Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.’

Bryan Singer directs once more more, with James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Olivia Munn, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Lucas Till, Josh Helman, Lana Condor and Ben Hardy starring.

It’ll be in cinemas next May.

Deadpool Super Bowl Spot – The Merc With A Mouth doesn’t have much time for football

February 8, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Deadpool-International-One-Sheet-slideAs you might expect, Deadpool isn’t going to let the Super Bowl go by without a quip and a snide comment – although one that it has to be said that feels like it was carefully picked not to be too offensive. With the movie due out this week, the Big Game was the perfect opportunity to showcase the X-Men character’s unique brand of superhero-antics.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.’

The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, T.J. Miller and Ed Skrein. It’ll be in cinemas in February, but enjoy the trailer below.

Captain America: Civil War Super Bowl Spot – New footage emerges from Avengers 2.5

February 8, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

captain-america-civil-war-poster1-slidePretty much everyone from Avengers is showing up in Captain America: Civil War, except for Thor and Hulk (but that’s because they’re teaming up for their own adventure). As a result, Marvel is hoping the film is going to be huge and so it’s no suprise they felt the need for a Super Bowl spot, which you can take a look at below.

Synopsis: ‘Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

‘The movie stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Frank Grillo, Tom Holland, with William Hurt and Daniel Brühl. Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” is directed by Anthony & Joe Russo and produced by Kevin Feige. Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Patricia Whitcher, Nate Moore and Stan Lee serve as executive producers and the screenplay is by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely.’

Michael Pitt Will Get Villainous Opposite Scarlett Johansson In Ghost in the Shell

February 6, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

michael-pitt

A while ago it seemed that the live-action Hollywood version of Ghost In The Shell was moving full steam ahead and was poised to start shooting. However they them applied the breaks slightly, but it’s still on its way, and it’s just gotten a bump with the news, via THR, that Michael Pitt will play the villain.

It appears he’s replacing Sam Riley, who was previously attached to play the role. It’s not clear whether that means Riley is out of the film completely, or whether earlier reports about the role he was up for were incorrect. The film will follow a female special ops cyborg (Scarlett Johansson) who leads a fictional counter-cyberterrorist organization called Public Security Section 9 for Hanka Robotics. The unit is devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, led by The Laughing Man (Pitt), who will stop at nothing to destroy Hanka’s advancements in cyber technology.

Rupert Sanders (Snow While And The Huntsman) is set to direct, and hopes to start shooting in New Zealand at the end of the month. A March 2017 release is currently set.

Channing Tatum & Joseph Gordon-Levitt Are Teaming Up For A Musical Comedy

February 6, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

channing-tatum

A couple of days ago we posted a clip of Channing Tatum showing off his singing skills in Hail, Caesar!. Well, it seems he doesn’t want to leave it there, as THR reports that he’s teaming with Joseph Gordon-Levitt for a new musical comedy, which Universal has signed on to make.

The duo have worked together several times before, appearing alongside each other in Havoc, Stop-Loss, and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, with Tatum also showing up in Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut, Don Jon. There’s not much info on what the film will be about, but it’s apparently planned as an R-rated movie, based on an idea by Gordon-Levitt and his longtime friend and colleague Michael Bacall, who will write the script.

It’s still pretty early days though, so don’t expect to see this for a while yet – indeed musicals tend to have an incredibly long development period due to the need to work on and refine the tunes. However it’ll certainly be good if it goes ahead and we can see Tatum and Gordon-Levitt showing off their wond and dance men skills in a full-length musical.

Well, any film about talking animals isn’t going to be realistic, but having dealt with everything from entire continents split aparts in minutes and bringin dinosaurs into the Ice Age, we shouldn’t be surprised that for its latest outing, Collision Course, at least one of the characters is going into space, while the others dealing with a massive meteor shower.
