The press release for this one warned people to ‘Lock up your daughters’, but there was no mention of sons, and so it looks like gay guys are being given free reign on this one (even if there is sadly a minimal amount of Matt Bomer in this trailer).
Generally though, if you’re upset that men keep their clothes on too much in the movies, Magic Mike XXL is here to help you out, and as this trailer is keen to show, this sequel will have plenty more shirtless, stripper shenanigans, while ramping the sexual suggestiveness up to 11.
What’s still not clear is the exact tone it will have. The first movie certainly had plenty of stripping, but that was placed around a rather dark, dramatic plot. Channing Tatum has given mixed responses to whether the new movie will follow suit, or if it will be more deliberately fun.
We’ll have to wait and see.
Here’s the synopsis: ‘“Magic Mike” stars Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias are reuniting for the hotly anticipated sequel “Magic Mike XXL”. Joining the returning cast, in brand new roles, will be Elizabeth Banks (“The Hunger Games” franchise), Donald Glover (“Community”), Amber Heard (“The Rum Diary”), Andie MacDowell (“Footloose”), Jada Pinkett Smith (“Gotham”) and Michael Strahan (“Live with Kelly and Michael”).
‘Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, “Magic Mike XXL” finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.’
It’ll be in cinemas in July. [Read more…]
It may not be a massive summer blockbuster like Age Of Ultron or Jurassic World, but in its own way Mr. Holmes is just as intriguing, with Ian McKellen playing a retired Sherlock Holmes who’s in his 90s but lured back into one last case.
Ever since it was announced, Absolutely Anything has been an interesting one, not least because it reunites the Monty Python team – or at least their voices. It also got added poignancy last year when it became clear that one of Robin Williams final performances would be as a talking dog in the movie.
There comes a time in every Marvel film’s life when it needs a poster full of floating heads and bodies in an explosion of Photoshop-montage work, all while the characters look off into the middle-distance. It’s a bit daft but it works, and it has done for decades, not just for Marvel movies.
After the terrible Earthquake in Nepal, it was quickly revealed that Warner Bros. was making changes to its marketing for the upcoming San Andreas, and that may be present here, as this new trailer lays on the pathos and horror of the situation far more than earlier promos, which invited us to enjoy the orgy of destruction.

Hillary Clinton may be bidding to be America’s first female president, but I’d be willing to bet that if she does win, she won’t have to fight any aliens. That’s not true for CSI: NY & House’s Sela Ward, who’ll be taking the POTUS role in Independence Day 2, according to
